Go on, give us a steer. I just can't see this on anything like the level of Tyson v Douglas. Curry v Honeyghan is closer.Terminator666 wrote: ↑17 Dec 2020, 16:30AncientJimmy2020 wrote: ↑17 Dec 2020, 15:55How old are you?Terminator666 wrote: ↑17 Dec 2020, 14:56 For me personally - I’d rate it more of a shock than honneyghan v Curry or Tyson v Douglas

I think the odds for Tyson Douglas were very generous considering all the turmoil Tyson was going through at the time. Alvarez dos not appear to be plagued by such problems and if it was close he always has the judges. So I just see this as monumental it happened

Fair enough.
Changing subject...
DAZN looks great value but if I'm not going to stay up and watch live, YouTube is calling. It's not the money, it's having to sign up, etc ...
It's a shame when £1.99 can't tempt a boxing man in.

Only £1..99 surprised at that
Re: Saul 'Canelo' Alvarez vs. Callum Smith - 19 December 2020
His 3 best wins are against fielding a 1 armed completely knackered groves and arguably the worst robbery decision of recent years against Ryder outside of that he's laboured to wins over poor barely euro level opposition he's not very good at all and is going to be completely weight drained even if he's manages to go the distance will be an achievement if he wins then it will have to go down as the biggest ever upset by a British fighter canelo is arguably p4p No1 and the biggest draw in boxing by a country mile

Ha. Far from it. My wants and needs are pretty basic and cheap, and are fairly well outstripped by my Income such as it is, so actually I’m entirely frivolous. Anything whatsoever I want, I get it. I just don’t want or need anything expensive, my tastes don’t run that way, so I never have to (or want to) sweat the smaller stuff.

Nice to see some sanity amongst the Alphabet boys for once. The WBC world title is also on the line too, so it's now actually a unification fight
That fact it's Alverez fighting has everything to do with the decision, but hey ho.

Full of himself
He’s only co-promoting Canelo-Smith with Canelo..
And GGG is also self promoted now. He’s only tagged Hearn along so he can fill the undercards and do more legwork.
These 2 fights are on DAZN, however Hearn has not done anything to promote DAZN here in the UK. Is that because when it comes to UK, he’s exclusively with Sky.

Cut the guy some slack. He's still only a young man really and always seems a bit like a giddy school kid, so fair play to him for really enjoying what he is doing for a living. The giddy kipper, glad to be here side of him is sincere. That's nice, I think.

Watching the weigh-in and interview with Austin Williams (6-0, 5ko) who said that he had recently sparred with Callum Smith and managed to get inside and control the session. Whilst Williams said that Smith had only earlier arrived - and I know sparring is only sparring - its still concerning that a 6 fight novice can get inside. Both guys are fighting on the same night so youd expect them to be similarly prepared for fight night.

Callum may have been working on stuff. Who knows apart from Joe and Callum. Ali used to 'lose' spars all the time.tonyevs wrote: ↑18 Dec 2020, 14:50 Watching the weigh-in and interview with Austin Williams (6-0, 5ko) who said that he had recently sparred with Callum Smith and managed to get inside and control the session. Yes I wouldn't read too much into spars. I do wonder how easy Smith made weight though, he's a big lad and spoke about struggling to make weight in the past. I also wonder what the Canelo team know, they obviously fancy their chances as on paper Smith looks dangerous, same age, unbeaten, very tall, long reach advantage and hard punching. I'd love Smith to win but I can see Canelo wearing him down.Jimmy2020 wrote: ↑18 Dec 2020, 14:58Callum may have been working on stuff. Who knows apart from Joe and Callum. Re: Saul 'Canelo' Alvarez vs. Callum Smith - 19 December 2020
Of course we don`t know how Smith was taking the sparring session - we also don`t know if he `lose` spar`s like Ali, or goes heavy like Tyson ...
However - it does raise a concern that a 6 fight novice is able to get inside; surely the gap between the two should be wide enough that a 6 fight novice who gets inside knows that he is being rinsed?
Smiths face looked very drawn at weigh-in, but if he is used to the weight making routine he should be fine by tomorrow. It was interesting to see that Smiths torso was as heavy as Canelo`s ... its not like he has freakishly skinny legs to explain how he makes weight either.
