why not fury, look at the ko wilder win , fury doesnt look for ko , but if he does he will take you out meaning opponent, are we all still going to pretend that aj ko against Pulev was a good win,it reminded me of the haye v john ruiz fight . it was a nothing win aj blew out an 40 year old in the 9th rd ,
Why not? Because this is a p4p topic. Fury is the best part of 20 stone. He can crack harder than his record suggests but he is a long, long way off being a banger at heavyweight let alone p4p. He is an awesome boxer but nowhere near the top of p4p UK punches.
so your saying fury aint a puncher though he has punched lumps out chisora which uysk couldnt do or many others, and bashed wilder in the 2nd fight to a pulp , i would say if he was an more offence fighter like in the wilder 2 fight we would be seeing this regular
fury couldnt put chisora down once in 22 rounds, he dominated him but it was hardly a show of power. if you are gonna mention chis, well then whyte knocked him spark out

Good shot from Whyte that was. Speaking of Chisora further though, recently retired cruiserweight David Haye dropped Chisora and stopped him. There's an example of a p4p puncher.

Alexander v Takaloo, what a KO. Good Times in the light middle division.

It's mad as at the time with Hatton fighting nobody's and packing arenas out, but Warren's WBU run did produce some good fights and got a lot of decent boxers air time on sky which they wouldn't have had otherwise.

Josh Taylor I don't think of as a huge puncher, but he absolutely is ! Taylor has been boxing at such an inflated level, it's important to remember the punches don't have the same effect in world class, so actually, it could well be the Tartan Tornado. The impact of Taylor's punches have everything to do with split second timing.
You make a good point about levels.
Taylor has plenty of pop on his shots and although he hasn't been knocking opponents out, we haven't seen anyone walk through his best shots the way Canelo did to Smith, who was once seen as a bit of a beast at domestic/euro level.

Tennyson didn't look anywhere near as dangerous vs Farmer as he does at domestic level.

Sometimes carrying power up the levels is as hard as carrying it up in weight.

Josh Taylor probably should be up there really yeah.

Chris Billam-Smith and Richard Riakporhe have strong KO ratios too. Surprising their fight went the distance.

Yeah it’s rare we get a genuine p4 puncher like a Benn over here, but Haye was absolutely one of them

I agree with those who say Taylor is obviously a very good puncher, if not Benn/Haye level.

That's a good call from dookus...Joe Pigford has impressed with his power, certainty at the level he's been boxing at.

It would have been interesting to see how it carried as he stepped up in class, but Pigford seems to have gone AWOL.

Cheers! Yes I've been missing him a great deal.

Another shout (more of a prediction): Willy Hutchinson. Early days of course but he just has that aura of a genuinely devastating puncher

I don't think it's AJ..

He usually drops his opponents after a barrage/combo of punches.. The Pulev KO was good, but Pulev was alrady in la la land before it landed.

As Buncey has said....AJ tenderises his opponents first, then applies the finishing touches.

Even though the cliché is the punch is the last thing to go, Price doesn't seem to whack like he once did.

Callum Johnson has pretty decent power, shame he hasn't been in action for some time.

It's a shame Callum Johnson hasn't been promoted properly, with that power he could have been a big name/real fans favourite.

Beterbiev has a a solid chin, Gvozdyk is a big puncher yet Beterbiev walked through him. Whereas Callum dropped Beterbiev,

Didn't actually think about Taylor. :geek:
He is fighting constantly at the top level, so when guys he has fought say he hits hard, it is very credible.

I know bigger guys who spar him and say he’s crippling with the short body punches mate.

Fury stopped 26 out of 31 of his amateur wins. That's a pretty damn high percentage and shows he has pretty decent power.

A couple of my mates were in the squad with Haye, said international opponents would pull out if they had haye in the draw. He got walkovers often. His power was scary even then.

Bit worrying that, Joshua aside, there isn't anyone being listed that has consistently been stopping world level guys. Tennyson and Yarde might have some power, but we've yet to see them show that above Euro level
