Why keep 'em all?

4 World Champions is 3 too many as it is.

There weren't even 4 Major Championships when I first started seriously following the sport 20 years ago.

Nobody gave a f*ck about the WBO then.

It crept in around 2002 thru 2004, and people just started pretending it mattered.

Yeah 1 would be nice but I don't mind the 4 titles without the added on interims.

Ring magazine title, no sanctioning fees and more often than not the best man holds the belt, if Fury/Joshua cant be for undisputed then both men should vacate remaining 3 belts and fight for Fury's Ring Magazine belt, fornicate the ABCs

I am going to say something a lot of people might not agree with but...

The sooner the UFC enter boxing and start to publish a ranking system and have their belt - the better it is going to be for boxing.

At the moment, because I am a traditionalist, the WBA is the oldest organistation - though amazing corrupt and self-serving - probably the least worst out of them all.

The worst isn't even the WBC - who are pretty shite, but the WBO who are insistent in putting their shitty regional belts around the world - who rank an Australian as a pan-Pacific-Asian champion (and though I know the WBA have these stupid regional titles, they are nowhere near close to the WBO).

The UFC know how to run an organisation and the best fight the best, we should all be writing to Dana White to come and save boxing because he would.

The parent company of UFC is fighting a class action lawsuit launched by former fighters accusing them of running a monopoly, etc, etc...that allegedly kept fight purses lower than they'd have otherwise been. You think boxers will welcome that?

As far as the way the belts look I prefer the look of the WBA and IBF personally.

I am sure boxers love the situation at the moment - where they can fight for all these intra-continental titles - the proposition of one title and one set of ratings will hurt the wallets of a lot of fighters and there will be less opportunity for boxers who are flourishing now - it's one or the other, isn't it?

For me, It would have to be the interim WBO Intercontinental super featherweight franchise diamond championship belt every-time.

You’re proposing yet another body to join the alphabet soup. The UFC belt isn’t even the undisputed belt in MMA.

They got in early doors with MMA and were able to establish a monopoly. Boxing will be a different ballgame.

Why does it matter if another organization joins the six or seven in operation - professional boxing is in a mess! if we have one organization who knows what they're doing in a related sport then that would be a good thing if they could transfer it to boxing.

The absence of the UFC isn't going to improve boxing anytime soon.

From 2017, but the article states there are some 20000 professional boxers, but only around 1000 professional MMA fighters.

https://www.businessinsider.com/mcgrego ... ?r=US&IR=T

Of course the UFC model will work well from such a small potential pool of athletes, but if there were suddenly 20x as many pro MMA fighters, the UFC model of 'the best always fighting the best' would become far more difficult.

No great thought went into it  It was just an idea of an organization who seem to be doing a lot better job of it than any of the 'alphabet boys' who aren't doing a good job of it at all. I bet the UFC would have the resources and the money and the people to do a better job in boxing than the WBC and their 'bridgerweight' division. :TU:

I really like the Lonsdale :salut:
Because if your from the UK and you win it, then successfully defend it, you keep it. And it is a really nice piece of kit that you have earned, with a great tradition. Plus the only other guys who have one, have earned theirs too, making it s cool club to be in.

All those abc belts look like the chrome and bling will fall off them in 10 years anyway, yer grandkids won't be impressed. They might screw the fighters out of hefty commissions to fight for them, but not a lot of that goes into the belts.

For me the best looking belt, esp when it was made of gold, and to win it outright you had to be the best in Britain

would you rather win a lonsdale or a major world title lol

most lonsdale winners arent good enoogh to even win a watered down world title

no doubt it's got tradition and makes us wave our flags, but let's be real

i'd of course much rather have a euro title than a lonsdale, it looks better too

The Lonsdale Belt by far - it is one of the oldest and prestigious professional boxing belts on the planet.

What's a 'major world title'? You can buy one of their belts - an exact replica - off Ebay for 100 quid! they're worth nothing.

the lonsdle is a brit level achievement, old doesnt mean better. i know we love our national pride and nostalgia though, for a belt that means very little and is hardly known outside the uk

it has nothing even on the ebu, let alone winning something like the ibf or wbc world title. your average world champ would smoke your average ryan walsh too...those are easily a higher accomplishment, and the one that far more would dream about

obviously there is gonna be a higher level involved when it's not just limited to the uk...far more competition to get it

everyone worship scott dann and ryan walsh

hey op, you should add the lonsdale, since dudes would rather be a british champ than world champ lol. becoming world champ is only one lowly step along the path of becoming british champ.

craig richards and shakan pitters, tommy langford, jason welborn, hosea burton, buglioni etc have already reached the highest level of championship boxing by becoming british champ and being able to hoist up the lonsdale

Correct.

Where did I say that? But I would have loved to have been a British boxing champion but my
mediocre skillset didn't allow it, that's a fine lifetimes achievement.

if that's not what you meant sorry bruh but seemed that way to me?
