Re: Middleweights : Gennady Golovkin vs. Rubin Carter
Golovkin would methodically outclass and severely batter Carter in about 10 rounds.
Re: Middleweights : Gennady Golovkin vs. Rubin Carter
Carter, by easy knockout, if they weigh in at noon on fight day. Under modern weigh-in rules, it's a much tougher fight but Carter wins a close decision.

Re: Middleweights : Gennady Golovkin vs. Rubin Carter
Golovkin wins a pretty lopsided bout. I think he stops him later on in the fight.
Re: Middleweights : Gennady Golovkin vs. Rubin Carter
It's an easy knockout for Carter if they weigh-in at noon on fight day because GGG won't be rehydrated. Under those weigh-in rules, GGG would be dead at the weight.

Re: Middleweights : Gennady Golovkin vs. Rubin Carter
Carter would give him a fight, mark him up, but defo see GGG winning probably by late stoppage
Re: Middleweights : Gennady Golovkin vs. Rubin Carter
GGG gets in the ring at 170 or 171-he wouldn't be close to that with a noon weigh-in on fight day. Under today's weigh-in rules, Carter would be a welterweight.

We'll have to disagree; thanks for sharing your opinion.

Close fight, I don't think Carter was ever knocked out and he was much better than Jacobs. I'll side with ggg by Dec, but nothing close to easy.

Not sure why this gets a lot of attention. GGG wins this and easily. In this case, we can liken Carter to one of the Paul Brothers....he's in this fight for his fame and historical outrageous behavior, not his skill level.
I'm not saying Carter was lacking overall....but he's not in the all time elite catagory, and GGG honestly is.

Now now...it's just one individual's opinion......you are safe! No one is imposing on you! I don't want to get you hyperventilating. In fact you can speak your piece......and I will take note.emallini wrote: ↑06 Jan 2021, 13:30Jesus fornicating christBoxBuzz wrote: ↑06 Jan 2021, 13:05 Not sure why this gets a lot of attention. And if you feel Carter was one of the greats, I will not speak disparagingly against any religious figure in response.. I will simply listen, and ponder with due respect.

Your opinion is ridiculous. Just because he was not elite and not one of the greats, does not mean he should be compared to YOUTUBERS.BoxBuzz wrote: ↑07 Jan 2021, 01:32Now now...it's just one individual's opinion......you are safe! Hey buddy, don't sell ridiculous short. It has it's place in the matrix. However.....I don't think these two would make a genuinely competitive bout. Mostly because of the ridiculous difference in skill level. And.....my greater point, is that they are being hypothetically matched for Carter's iconic reputation. .... So.....I hope we can still be friends, despite my ridiculazations. And my rather bombastical assertions.

His reputation seems to be based more on the movie about him than on his actual in-ring accomplishments.BoxBuzz wrote: ↑09 Jan 2021, 14:10emallini wrote: ↑07 Jan 2021, 07:40Your opinion is ridiculous. If it were based on his actual fights he'd be properly dismissed as not much of a threat here.
Re: Middleweights : Gennady Golovkin vs. Rubin Carter
His drama was important though. It taught many people many things. About justice, and fame, and the pursuit of facts in behalf of those who are faced with unfair judgmental retribution. We may never know the truth about that case, but we do know that it "Upped the level of quality review" for those in his position. Nothing like a bit of evolving to soothe the soul. Too bad it happens so painfully, and slow.gilgamesh wrote: ↑09 Jan 2021, 14:12His reputation seems to be based more on the movie about him than on his actual in-ring accomplishments.BoxBuzz wrote: ↑09 Jan 2021, 14:10

How so? He was clearly more accomplished than Jacobs.gilgamesh wrote: ↑09 Jan 2021, 14:12His reputation seems to be based more on the movie about him than on his actual in-ring accomplishments.BoxBuzz wrote: ↑09 Jan 2021, 14:10

I think GGG beats the crap out of him, but comparing Carter to those YouTube guys is definitely stupendously outrageous.BoxBuzz wrote: ↑09 Jan 2021, 14:10emallini wrote: ↑07 Jan 2021, 07:40Your opinion is ridiculous. I wouldn't say he was. Though he does have the one win that's bigger than anything Jacobs has accomplished so far.Onetimeonly wrote: ↑09 Jan 2021, 22:31How so?
