As if only those qualities mattered.
Now wipe you glasses, read again and see, that no one even suggested, that Mercer would necessarily win Tyson. What's really laughable, that's your wet dreams of Tyson rolling over Mercer, who at those times was able to take tons of punishment.
So what? Ruddock took tons of punishment as Tyson rolled through him, breaking his jaw en route to a UD.
The Ruddock fights were very competetive FFS.
You could count on one hand how many rounds Ruddock won in both fights. Competitive while getting his jaw broken and decked four, five times.

Why would Tyson role over the likes of Mercer? I think durable guys who can take his shots and fight back are going to be a big problem for Tyson. What does Tyson do when he's hit Mercer with his best shots and Mercer doesn't go anywhere?

Bowe. He was the only man to beat him in the pros. Also took guts to take him on after the first fight.

What he did to Mitch Green? To Ruddock?

If Mercer fought like he was capable of, he would have given Tyson all that he could handle.

Tyson clearly was better than Ruddock both times, but they were not easy fights for him. He only lost one round in the first fight, knocked Ruddock down twice but one was a trip that the referee Richard Steele "missed". No reason for the fight to have been stopped. 2nd fight, Ruddock won four rounds. Tyson knocked him down twice. Ruddock had his moments here and there in both fights.

Mercer was a little better than Ruddock and certainly a lot better than Mitch Green. If he was motivated, (which he usually but not always was) Mercer would have given Tyson a lot of trouble.

How good was ruddock tho? I know theres the softening up theory but lewis took ruddock out easy. Tyson had all sorts of problems.

I don't think there's any question that Bowe was Evander's best win.

Mercer gave Holyfield a lot of trouble and probably should have got the decision against Lewis in good fights. If he fought that well against Tyson, he would have given him a close fight, maybe even had won.

I certainly agree; at least going by who was the best opponent at that time that Holyfield beat him.

My bad. Obviously another shutout for Lennox.

I don't think doing well against Lennox is evidence a fighter can duplicate it against Tyson. Bruno was bossing Lewis years after Tyson pulverised him. I love Mercer but he falls short of the quality required to overcome Tyson.

You mean you think Lewis lost a round in that one? That seems harsh.

Great win
But that is remembered for fan man not holyfield's performance

He opened a 20-1 dog vs tyson. People feared he was going to die

He kicked the crap out of him and stopped him. Tyson win was his pinnacle.

Who cares about fan-man, we're not talking about Holy's most popular win, but his best. Beating peak Bowe was a better win than a past it Tyson.

Id put things in a historical context and therefore tyson is his best win

The best fighter he beat was bowe 2
