BBC Panorama - "Boxing and the Mob"
Re: BBC Panorama - "Boxing and the Mob"
Obviously late to the party but I watched this last night. Boxing has never had the greatest of reputations as a sport, always tied in together with villainy. I suppose it's inevitable that that the hundreds of millions of pounds that an event like Fury-Joshua would generate would mean a great deal of corruption and having to placate some really dodgy bastards. It just so happens now that the villains of today make the villains of the past look like absolute minnows. The likes of the Krays and Blinky Palermo, they were absolute nobodies in comparison to international drug smuggling multi millionaires and the Saudi Royal Family. These are like James Bond villains. Protection rackets and numbers games were never going to rival the wealth of drug and oil money, were they?
Nobody with any real power is not corrupt however. You can highlight it like this and put on the blinkers and just see this as an isolated case (and I'm not saying it makes anything right) but everything involving big money is rotten to the core. It's all blood money. Joshua having his photo taken with the Saudi Royals is just as stupid as Fury literally name dropping DK on social media as the guy that brokered the deal. It's scandalous on both sides.
That said, I still want to see the fight.

I don't get it, either. With Fury's family background being so entrenched in villainy, he couldn't possibly be naive enough to not know who Daniel Kinahan was, surely? He certainly made the move to disassociate himself from him after the fall out, so maybe...? It seems a stretch. But yeah, publicly naming and thanking him was a really bizarre move if he genuinely knew. Billy Joe Saunders, horrible scrote that he is, continued to make videos defending Kinahan afterwards which is interesting but not out of character.JimJim2009 wrote: ↑08 Feb 2021, 11:25 I bet Fury wishes he never posted that video clip thanking Kinahan last year.

I'm pretty sure there's always a case of a cap or certain amount depending on purse.JimJim2009 wrote: ↑08 Feb 2021, 11:25 Is there potentially up to £15m going the way of the "advisor" as 15% of a £100m purse ?
Could the board look at a "due diligence" test in future or when the dust settles does nobody really give a monkies ?
Depending on where Fury vs Joshua ends up, will Kinahan be able to watch it with binoculars from his apartment ?
Some boxers that constantly earn £10m+, theres no way they pay their trainers and managers 10%-15%.

Best me too it, a nice little fluffy story about a kid from the projects with no propects or ambitions making a name for himself in boxing, while helping out the boxers who are exploited so much. Kinahan has expensive lawyers, but they don't have time machines. We know who you are Danielwatsupdoc87 wrote: ↑08 Feb 2021, 08:35 A real life rags to riches story there from Daniel the son of an international druglord![]()

His expensive Lawyers worded it in past tense, not one word of this of course came from Daniel Kinahan, he just have the go-ahead , rather like all the hitmen he gave the go-ahead to
And he REALLY respected journalists!!

It's just a damning indictment on our society at large, my friend boycotted Coca-Cola over the whole hiring mercenaries to kill villagers and steal water thing but he ended up saying if he boycotted every company with scrummy practices he'd die naked and starvingCyclops wrote: ↑08 Feb 2021, 11:39 Obviously late to the party but I watched this last night. But scandalous is still scandalous like you say, Anthony Bellew gives us his action hero scenario of wishing he was guy who killed the ultimately evil Bin Laden. But he will gladly take the same money that was used to fund and support Bin Laden, from the same people, while his best buddy Joshua poses for pictures with them
What's the common denominator here? Big fat wads of cash

Someone needs to tell Jamie Kavanagh and Gerry Hutch that Daniel Kinahan had absolutely nothing to do with all those murders of their relatives, it's just malicious gossip

Amir Khan is pitching in now too, saying what a lovely fella he is, so clearly all the stories must be malicious

Here's something I've never seen mentioned:
dan kinahans never been convicted of anything
and he gives to charity
and he helps british and irish boxers
i think people are just jealous that he's rich and living the high life around the world
surely a man, who has never been convicted of anything, should be allowed to give back to the sport we love. in fact anyone who thinks otherwise should be castrated or shot

And wanting to kill someone connected with the organisation which has nothing whatsoever to do with drugs, nothing to do with a feud or anything. Mr Kinahan has never been convicted of any crime, so there wouldn’t be any place for a man who- I think I’m quoting him here- lives with god, and chooses love and peace, in a violent feud. I may have got it slightly wrong but that was the gist, and it’s pretty clear a bloke who writes that kind of heartfelt humanistic plea wouldn’t be involved in a multimillion pound drug empire. Or lots of murders.

I was really dubious, but then after reading this bit i was convinced of his innocenceRuthless-RKO wrote: ↑08 Feb 2021, 08:13 Daniel Kinahan, the subject of a Panorama investigation into his influence on boxing, has given an exclusive statement to talkSPORT.

Pretty clear at this point that either Mr Kinahan is exactly as squeaky clean as he says, or for a couple of reasons I can imagine, nobody in boxing will say otherwise.
Re: Daniel Kinahan Statement Talksport 10am tomorrow
I wonder why such a lovely fella would have had at least 2 attempts (that we know of) made to shoot him. Why would anyone want to kill such a nice peace-loving, family man?Stevieaber wrote: ↑08 Feb 2021, 14:39 Amir Khan is pitching in now too, saying what a lovely fella he is, so clearly all the stories must be malicious

The true men of love and god are always persecuted and killed off. It’s a miracle Ghandi made it to such a ripe old age without some bullet-headed assassin in a North Face jacket trying to off him.

Peter Fury has come out in defence of him on IFL. Apparently they’ve known each other for 25 years, long before either were involved in boxing. What a remarkable coincidence’. Maybe they met on holiday or something.

I kind of meant ‘nobody that matters’ which unfortunately is also true
Re: BBC Panorama - "Boxing and the Mob"
I love the way he says i don't like drug dealers. That's a bit like Bill Gates saying well i never really liked computers..
If he's known Daniel for 25 years, before boxing what brought them into contact with each other? I don't imagine they were gym buddies, there's a bit of an age gap. A more inquisitive journalistic mind than Kugan's might have been tempted to enquire about that.

The coincidences keep piling up mate
Like people getting shot at weigh ins and outside Spanish boxing gyms, all in an amazing mixup and coincidence really, the gunmen somehow seem to think this Kinahan fella is mixed up in all sorts, but all the bodies piled up so far are just another thirty or so inexplicable coincidences, really.
