Under ring generalship, I’d give the edge to Kiko. He controlled the ring, cut it off and forced Barrett to box like he did. Others may think Barrett chose to box at *out of range.

So what you need to do is analize what a scoring punch is , now unless they have changed it a scoring punch is

Hitting the opponent with the KNUCKLE part of the glove , on the body or head , frontal not rear , It should be an effective punch WITH the weight of the shoulder behind said punch ... .

Now go watch it again with that in mind
How much does a shoulder weigh? :maybe:

Sorry Mr Smith but that is just bollxxks. You bend over backwards to avoid having to grasp the nettle. Kiko won that fight and the scoring was atrocious. British boxing could and should be run better than this.

In a 3 round fight......as a pro

Round 1 Fighter A lands 27 punches fighter B lands 5
Round 2 Fighter A lands 15 punches fighter B lands 16
Round 3 Fighter A lands 18 punches fighter B lands 20

Punches landed Fighter A 60 Fighter B 41 ..... so does Fighter A win the fight according to punchstats?

In reality.........Fighter A only won the first round so scores 28 points.......Fighter B wins the second and third so 29 points

So......punchstats mean fornicate all.
You don’t score the fight as a whole. It’s round by round..

Then you look at other factors? Like effectiveness etc.
I know, im saying punchstats are shit, its not me that keeps quoting them. Im a qualified amateur judge, pro judging is a different ballgame. Im aware of the principles involved in pro boxing judging.

Incidentally...if there is a rematch then Barret wins it convincingly and maybe by stoppage.

Kiko will not train as hard or be as focused, he will take the money and run. He has been fucked over once, why should he train his arse off again for the second coming of 'hometown decision'.

Barret wins

That was a much better balanced interview from Smith. He now accepts that everyone is entitled to their opinion (he certainly didnt suggest that before).

My take on it is that the officials for a show have to be seperated from the promoter and participants and their back up teams prior to fight night. The days of wining and dining with the promoter and fancy hotels etc should be stopped.

The only money (and food/drink/accommodation favours etc) that exchange/s hands should be a promoter paying a set fee (dependent on grading of show and number of officials involved)....maybe a 'star' system is needed for type of show. 5 star being massive world title bill ppv and 1 star being a 4 fight bill at Dudley town hall.

All expenses/accommodation and allowances for the BBBC 'officials' should be paid then direct from the BBBC coffers and stringently policed. 'Entertaining' officials the night before a big fight is bordering on bribery, and the officials are human, if something is close, then they will judge it to the 'hand that feeds'.

Stop the alleged corruption and stop the fans perception that the sport is corrupt.

Just read Smith's interview in this week's Boxing News and I think in any normal world his position would be increasingly untenable. I've refrained from ever commenting too much, as it's a tough role, but he just continues to patronise fans and reinforce the 'old boys club' perception that surrounds the worst aspect of the British game. Zero credibility left.

I think many officials understand if the prospects keep winning that they will have regular work. So a golden handshake isn't required.

If Zelfa or Ritson lost would that mean fewer shows? I don’t think so and it will just mean the focus goes on to someone else for a while.

Every single time there’s a bollocks decision some pudendum pipes up with the ‘landed on arms and gloves’ bollocks. It happened with Pac-Man v Bradley and then you go and watch it again and see Pac-Man repeatedly land on Bradley’s massive face.

It’s the same here, if Martinez was landing on arms and gloves then what about Barrett’s shots landing on thin air? Was he getting scored for those shots?

Sh1t cu nts.

I also don’t think the tv commentary has an influence as when Rachel Ball beat Shannon Courtenay, the commentary was pro Courtenay and the lads watching on here called the commentators for it and I think most in the RBR had Ball winning or had it a draw.

Yeah it’s also a bit rich saying how we’re apparently so influenced by commentary, but half the posts on RBRs are usually people saying Smith is talking sh!t.

Can imagine more casual viewers would be easily swayed by what the commentary teams are saying though.

Boxing is still too parochial. Someone should grab boxing by the bollocks and start their own UFC style organisation. You would only need Canelo, Fury and Joshua on your roster and then you could take the pick of the rest.

I think Eddie’s trying to do something but it’s very difficult as young boxers grow up wanting to win British titles and world titles. Will be difficult trying to sell them a fight for the Matchroom title!

The UFC was the first main stream MMA promotion in the US so even if their proposed pay to fighters is lower than they can get in other promotions the fighters still want to fight there because of the history and the publicity they’ll get.

I would buy the WBA and build an organisation around that. No more than 10 fighters per division at any one time. The world doesn't need any more pro boxers than that. Bait in the top guys now and going forward sign up the best amateurs with the biggest personalities.

Isn’t that what PBC tried to do originally. Or what people said they would try and do.
