we now know why Zidane butted Materazzi , here, the conversation between the 2 :
Zidane : - " Ordinanza de tirare il costume !... " (stop pulling on my shirt)
Materazzi : - " Taciti, enculo, hai solamente cio che merite..." (shut up f***er thats what u diserve)
Zidane: - "si e cio..." (yeah yeah keep talking)
then Zidane walks away but Materazzi keeps coming at him and tells him in his back :
- "meritate tutti ciò, voi gli enculato di musulmani, sporchi terroristici"
(thats what u all diserve you f***ing muslim terrorist f***ers )
thast when Zidane turned back and gave him the head butt...
Italian football not only is covered with corruption, but also known for racism...Italy doesnt diserve the world cup...

The Guardian can make up any story they like but they'll never be able to prove it. Zidane and his agents will no doubt tell their version soon but all Materazzi has to do is deny everything and wave his winners medal in their faces. I'm sure Zidane had heard it all before anyway and he should have known better.

So what? this is called gamesmanship -the Italian was looking for th ereaction he got. Zidane is a professional footballed long enough to ignore it then go through the correct channels to get Materazzi punished......
This is a bit of a hypocritical racist generalisation wouldn't you think?jamesmcdonnell wrote:Italian wankers, god I hate them. They should have been barred from the world cup. I think it's slightly shameful for football that a bunch of corrupt cheating greedy bastards get to lift arguably the biggest prize in sport.

The World Cup (with Blatter running the show), is itself one of the most corrupt sporting events on the planet, second only to the Olympics when it comes to bribery and scandal.jamesmcdonnell wrote:Italian wankers, god I hate them. The Italian team shouldn't be blamed for what their club bosses and referees are doing back in the old country.

I'm not talking about the entire Italian nation, but rather their national football team.E wrote:Raff The Frenchman wrote:we now know why Zidane butted Materazzi , here, the conversation between the 2 :

Let's not forget that several of the team are implicated in this scandal. And from what reading I've done on the matter, this court case doesn't just involve the club bosses. In order to fix a match you need the compliance of the players also.
gamesmanship is part and parcel of all top sports, the stars should no better, zidane should have had an answer for it, a funny one that humiliated the italian and made light of what he said..
we have chit chat in the boxing ring
we have sledging at cricket
we have verbals on the football field
its part and parcel, zidane is an arse and has ruined his fabulous legacy, some players are easy to wind up, at all levels, its part and parcel of sport.

As far as i know, its the club officals getting favourable refs for certain games, so far 8 refferes have been implicated in the scandel.
No players have been charged and none were even mentioned in the reports from hundreds of hours of tapped calls that were recorded.
Italian football has always been involved in corruption, whats even more unbelivable in this case , is that no one will face criminal charges.

It's a real shame. Apparently though Zidane's mother is seriously ill, and it's fairly understandable that if someone called his mother a whore he was unable to control himself.rhino222 wrote:gamesmanship is part and parcel of all top sports, the stars should no better, zidane should have had an answer for it, a funny one that humiliated the italian and made light of what he said..

The sad thing is, Zidane was the one guy who could have been relied upon to take a penalty and he wasn't there when it mattered.
I guess I am trying to find a way to excuse Zidane. :(

Well if he did get called an arab terrorist, then it shows what most racist comments are, mis-informed rubbish.jamesmcdonnell wrote:I've a feeling that Zidane won't reveal what was said. I think what was said might have been a combination of the two along the lines of 'you son of an arab whore terrorist'
Thing is, Zidane is a berber, not an arab.
For all that Zidane is lucky that he's french, as they seem to have forgiven and forgotton all ready.
Imagine if Zidane was english, he would have been getting loads of shit from people.

Just out of interest, has any footballer or other sportsman ever been charged with making racists comments with only a lip readers interpretation as evidence?
By the way, there have already been two different versions given by lip readers, with surely many more to follow. We will probably only hear about the ones that makes the best headlines.

'Son of a terrorist whore' seems to be the most common interpretation from the various lip readers.
Matarazzi denies this of course, but italian cursing seems to be very common amongst italians, so I don't find it hard to believe.
Thing is, it's going to be very hard to prove from lip reading, and it's probably not admissable as evidence as it is open to interpretation.
Thing that is annoying is that technically, Zindane should not have been sent off, as it was the fourth official who saw the headbutt, and the referee does not have the authority to suspend someone from play on video evidence. I know this is splitting hairs, but technically he should never have been sent off.

Allez zizou!!!!
after all the anti racism effort, if MM did say this he should be banned for a lengthy time!!!
We are all sitting here judging ZZ but everyone has a breaking point... he may be the greatest footballer of his generation but he is also a human being......
Anyway he hasnt diminished his legacy one bit in my eyes, he just lost the opportunity to further his legacy with another WC win!!!!

The forth offical has put out a statement that he didn't see it on the video screen , but saw it happen live.jamesmcdonnell wrote: Thing that is annoying is that technically, Zindane should not have been sent off, as it was the fourth official who saw the headbutt, and the referee does not have the authority to suspend someone from play on video evidence. The referee stated that he wanted things to die down a bit before he issued any card, this has happened all through the world cup, look at the Rooney sending off.
As for court cases i can't see anything happening there, If Zidane did take Materazzi to court, then surely Materazzi would try and prosecute Zidane for assault, and he would stand a better chance of winning as the video evidence is damning against Zidane.
Also wouldn't any case have to go ahead in Germany as this is where the alledged offenses took place, i'm no expert so wouldn't know if this would happen.
