The idea that Adam Smith is "the great man" they wheel out for the big events only is absolutely fornicating tragic

How many times are they gonna roll out a photo of Haye and Bellew being matey ....

It’s hardly Fidel Castro and JFK sharing a Cohiba together.

Ricky didn't have a famous boxing dad with a huge following though.
Should be on the start of the tv broadcast at the most though really, Campbell at this early stage.

Possibly. I think we all expect him to be brought along very slowly.

You got to give it to Campbell he's much improved from the debut.

They need to. He’s very limited at present but he’s got time to learn and improve.
Why bother turning pro so soon.. most guys turn over early because they are broke and need money.. presumably not the case with Hatton.

This should have been on the free YouTube broadcast . Not on primetime ... it’s similar to what Frank did to Tommy Fury vs Mr 0-9... it’s poor quality
It’s because there weren’t many amateur fights happening due to the pandemic so he’s turned pro. Without Covid he wouldn’t have turned pro. As Mickey said he would have likely been trying out for the novice ABAs.

Now he’s getting well paid but the pressure’s on.

Matchroom are promoters - they’re not going to give away a fight like this for free. They promoted him heavily for his debut and there will be people who bought tonight’s PPV, rightly or wrongly, partially because they wanted to watch Campbell.

Much better performance from Hatton, still so, so, so, much to work on, but a nice improvement from his debut. Still not sure he should be this high on a PPV show, he's having a target painted on his back for negativity and criticism

Conor Benn was like this when he started, ie not great.

Then he had a load of steroid cycles covered up as ‘injuries’ and ended up being a specimen so the framework is there to follow on.

He's been warming up. Getting in the zone.
I heard he likes to do a 5 miler followed by 15 rounds on the pads before any commentary gig.

Did Macklin just laugh at Smith after he growled about Chisora being "revved up for battle"?

What's the requirements for the novices? Under a certain amount of amateur fights or?

Yes I did consider that after I hit the submit button.

Although young Ricky was arguably far more watchable than this.

No the 15 round on the pads come afterwards even if the main event doesn’t go the distance.

You are such a cynic.

As an aside Marcus Morrison looked very "muscled" too.

I have no idea what the Hatton’s are doing to be honest. Campbell is only 20... that’s so young. He’s had hardly any amateur experience and he’s taken on 2 fighters that haven’t won a single fight between them

He’d learn a ton more fighting top amateur’s and turning pro in 2-5 years from now... and he’d still be pretty young

It’s not like he needs to turn pro for the money

Just to be clear ... no criticism to Campbell.. he is merely grabbing what he is offered like we all would. The criticism is aimed at the the promoters/ broadcasters putting a fight like this on during a primetime PPV.

I wonder if Ricky’s popularity will translate into he hugs ticket sales for Campbell that Eddie expects. I would imagine a lot of Ricky’s fans are now getting on a bit to go get smashed at a boxing show ?

It’s almost 10 years since Ricky’s last fight.

Plus a move to Dazn might limit the exposure of Campbell to the football massive

Maybe but I think he’ll gradually improve. Looks better tonight than he did 2 months ago. His lack of power will hinder him as at least Conor Benn had that when he turned over.
