Re: Felix Verdejo Questioned By Authorities Over Missing Woman In Puerto Rico
There’s a lot of people defending Felix. Obvious one is innocent until proven guilty.
Some saying escorts trap rich dudes too.
Another mentioned someone called Ray Currath.. whoever that is.
I liked Felix as a boxer. Was following him from 2016 when he was due a WBO shot. Terry Flanagan was champion at the time. Could have beaten him. But kept getting into accidents. Motorcycle related.
The evidence seems to be there.. let’s see what happens.

well i mean, she wasnt the married one, felix was, and it's not like he was forced to have sex with herAntonioMartin wrote: ↑03 May 2021, 06:03 The body that was found in a lake was corroborated to be hers.
I got a lot of mixed feelings. First of all, she should not have been involved with a married man. At least she should have left him when he got married to the other lady. Much as we men enjoy married women too, we are a-holes when we get involved with one just the same...we are....that is called breaking a marriage, which can lead to other types of consequences like murder and suicide.
That of course, does NOT MEAN she should have been murdered. I feel sorry for her and for her unborn baby. She should not have died this way. According to what I read she had even offered to raise the child by herself and not say anything about it to the press.....so why was she killed? I don't understand...(unless it was his wife who did the killing and not him but it all does point to him being the killer)
With the deaths of former Menudo member Ray Reyes (a celebrity I met in person back in 1998, a very decent man) on April 31st, and former governor Carlos Romero Barcelo tonight and this murder, it has been a very tragic few days in Puerto Rico...

Man, sitting in death row for 25 yearsJoe.Kelly wrote: ↑03 May 2021, 14:39Anthony Fletcher, a lightweight contender from the 1980s, received the death penalty in the early 1990s. There's reason to believe that Fletcher got screwed by the local criminal court system. The circumstances of his crime resembled manslaughter more than murder one, but Fletcher didn't have good representation, and the DA was reputed to be a pro-death penalty freak. So, Fletcher's been sitting on death row for over 25 years now.

They don’t have Death Penalty in Puerto Rico.Joe.Kelly wrote: ↑03 May 2021, 14:42Given the circumstances - that is, assuming the reports of the crime are true - then I wonder what this attorney can accomplish for Verdejo. When you read Dan Rafael piece from Local Plod....it’s horrific crime. Drugging/Thrown bridge/shooting etc.

If the Death Penalty now is available to them - (If) he has done that then that’s the sort of crime they should have it for.Joe.Kelly wrote: ↑04 May 2021, 16:09Correct. Verdejo is being charged in US Federal Court, and the feds definitely have death penalty as a possible punishment.
So will Verdejo get death? Well, there are a couple of factors to consider. First, Puerto Rico is dealing with a lengthy wave of so-called femicides, crimes where men kill their women. Last year the government of Puerto Rico declared a "state of emergency" concerning these murders. So maybe the feds will give Verdejo a death sentence to make an example out of him. On the other hand, the feds may feel inhibited about going for capital punishment here simply because Verdejo - in spite of his monstrous actions - is a popular public figure. I guess we'll have to wait and see.
It’s hard to imagine how he thought he’d get away with it - he must be absolutely off his nut.

Verdejo never reached his potential boxing, but he's top tier for human pieces ofshit.
Re: Felix Verdejo Questioned By Authorities Over Missing Woman In Puerto Rico
Verdejo resorting to suicide wouldn't be a surprise at all.

I despise the death penalty
But the animal part of me thinks her family should be able to tie bricks around verdejo and throw him in the ocean.

Re: Felix Verdejo Questioned By Authorities Over Missing Woman In Puerto Rico
Top Rank remove Verdejo from Website; to remain under contract until trial
“Anyone involved in this murder has obviously committed a heinous act,” Arum stated during a recent interview with WAPA-TV. “That said, we are aware that Felix has been arrested and is in police custody… but we must remember that in the American legal system, a person is innocent until proven (guilty).
“So in that sense, even if he was released on bail, we won’t promote him in [another] fight… (but) we will not release him unless he is convicted and that is our official position. This is truly tragic. All of this is unimaginable. He was always well-mannered. If he was really involved in this tragedy, it is truly unfortunate.”
“A man no matter how bad he looks, is innocent until proven guilty and we will not release him from the contract, or end our relationship with him unless and until he is convicted,” noted Arum. “We will not have any participation, neither in the defense, nor in their legal situations. We will not be involved.
“In the meantime, my prayers are with him and the judicial system will continue its course.”

Re: Felix Verdejo Questioned By Authorities Over Missing Woman In Puerto Rico
I can't support the death penalty because it isn't fairly enforced and too many innocent people get executed. Which means the government is murdering innocent people with my tax dollars while guilty people get released after a few years because they can afford a good lawyer. If this guy doesn't get the death penalty I don't see the purpose in having it as an option.
I suppose if it wasn't premeditated, he was drunk and suddenly lost it, boxing damaged his brain, Puerto Rican macho culture, etc. etc. a clever lawyer could get him off with 15-25 years. Which is why see the above about why I can't support the death penalty. When the most likely reason he killed her was because he was worried about getting 'scammed' into future alimony payments.

Yes, although this looks like an open and shut case, and there appears to be a cast iron witness, his defence will be interesting. Of course just like most trials it will be a game and one side will eventually win.
Whether justice is served also remains to be seen, and whether Verdejo gets more time than Avtandil Khurtsidze should also be interesting.
Apparently a good time for lenient sentencing is immediately after lunch.
