Rick quit against Senchenko, bless him. He was winning by a country mile, before quitting.
Wouldn’t say he quit. He looked it bad pain. Wasnt it’s body shot also?

Yes It was a legitimate body shot KO, he was down for a while

ali-berbick was actually pretty close i thought. obvs it's sad cuz berbick wasnt fit to put on a prime ali's jock, but the holmes fight was harder to watch because of how one sided a beating moo got

For some reason, Justin Juuko in the 00s, sticks in my mind as one of the most shot looking fighters I've ever seen.

He was brought over as a name for Michael Gomez to defend his WBU belt against, but I don't think anyone expected him to look that bad. It was as if he was trying to use legs for the first time.

A real shame, as in the mid 1990s he was a very good fighter who had some nice wins over here.

Even more shamefully, he was still fighting (and being stopped) nearly a decade after the Gomez fight.

In some ways - Ali vs Berbick was remarkable - as you said it was close and Ali looked so much better than he did vs Holmes. Berbick was limited but was a decent level operator. Ali would have beaten some decent(ish) fighters on that showing.

All this when he was clearly fighting parkinson's

Bought the PPV and just before KO my cousins and I were debating switching it off. It was hard to watch
+1. I refused to buy it because Tyson was obviously shot. It was sad to see that fight go ahead.

Lennox was great but i can never give him any credit for that win.

Another one, although this was before and during the fight but McGuigan vs Cruz.

I was only a young kid but can vividly remember my old man saying in the build up...Why is he fighting in the desert, this is not good.

Pintor against Owen obviously also , one I cannot watch

Arguello v Pryor 2

Seeing the Classy Great Arguello bidding to be a 4 weight Champ and left seated on the canvas knowing that he was at the end of a great career.

Ali lost only to Frazier, Norton, Holmes, Spinks and Berbick in his 21-year career - all world champions.

Morales v Pacquiao III. At the time, anyway, before it became clear Morales actually still had a lot left and Pacquiao was just something else.

Yes, he legs were horrible that night.
Something else quite sad, is how the quality of commentary was so much better then.

Strange one but Billy Hardy vs Naz.

Billy was a solid operator who mixed at European level. Shocking how easily Naz beat him.

Sometimes wether Ian Darke or Adam Smith is commentating will determine wether I can even sit through some of those old fights, Darke is just sublime

stujones wrote: 02 May 2021, 22:25 For the whole fight it would be Ali vs Holmes but of the fights I saw live on TV it would be Ayers vs Jon Honney...where Ayers was shuffling like an old man.

Povetkin vs Whyte 2 was up there as that smelt wrong the minute it was announced he had been hospitalised with covid.

Although by far the saddest fight I saw on tv that I cannot watch again was Graham vs Brewer....so close and the way Graham was more physically trapped than hurt...all he needed to do was stay away and up and the fight was his

I was at the Ayers fight. He was a shell of what he once was

Conteh/Saad Muhammad 2.......A shell of what he was, though unlike Hatton, he won a farewell fight at
his beloved Liverpool Stadium a few months later.

Not a sad performance in the way of being 'a shot fighter', but Colin Jones' final defeat to Don Currie
was a sickener magnified by a distraught Jones intervew minutes later.
