Quitting is the smart choice, getting the snot smashed out of you isn't proving how much of a man you are, that's just sheer idiocy.

True. A man for a one fight, a cripple for the rest of a life.

Kudos to Dubois for that reaction, would have been far easier to kick him

Well yeah it’s ‘smart’ to quit and be a chicken shit but when you say you’ll rather die than lose and keep saying you’re a ‘true fighting man’ from birth bla bla bla and lay into others for quitting then get the fornicate out of here - don’t show your face again

It's fair to blame him for judging quits of the others, but not for quitting himself after a damage sustained.

It simply means he’s got no greatness within him, which is fine. It’s boxing - you sign up for it knowing you can die. He won’t be able to look himself in the mirror the rest of his life unless he’s a pathetic little weasel.

I remember Frank saying he didn’t do Twitter in an IFL interview, and I was like “who the fvck have I been following for the last 10 years then?’

We know Bellow has done one, as he would say, but has Framp or Whyte put anything out there?

There are levels of injury though, did Dubois even have surgery or a titanium plate inserted? If it transpires Saunders has several fractures, he needs surgery and plates fitted plus gets told his career is over thats a different level of injury to Dubois who is scheduled to box again 7 months later. Saunders is an idiot and I get people don't like him but you can't compare the situations until its clear what level of injury he suffered.

Eddie Hearn had went to see him the next day and he reported that Saunders has a triple fracture...

Ya, and I'm sure medical expert BJS knew exactly what injury Dubois and himself had exactly when they happened, and based on knowing this was able to determine that his case was special and that he wouldnt be a hypocrite for quitting with the injury despite slagging off dubs and other for quitting with their eyes f@cked up. if he had suffered the same injury as dubois, there's no way he would've even flinched, cuz he's a real fightin man who would never quit for any reason, as he's claimed

gotta think that bill has more sympathy for dubois now dont you, when ppl get upset that fans are going after bill here, remember that he did the exact same thing to other fighters.....karma

I agree he shouldn't have been shouting his mouth off until the details were known but plenty of people were calling DDD a quitter too, not just Saunders. On the face of it the injury to DDD couldn't have been as bad as they first thought but it wasn't known at the time so the benefit of doubt should have even given.

BS went in on DDD with some very harsh criticism.

DDD strikes me as the kind of guy who tends to just get on with things and kept going until he could take no more, and gracefully bowed out. He was taking a big step up in class and to carry an orbital fracture for so many rounds against a world class heavyweight who throws a phenomenal amount of punches was admirable IMO.

For all his vile words and pledge that he will go through anything, BS bailed almost as soon as something went wrong.

It's fair to blame him for abusing other people who quit, and it's fair to blame him for being a hypocrite when he then does it himself. That's plenty to be going on with.

Dubois views it as a life lesson for Saunders.

“It's amazing how life works,” Dubois told The Sun. “I thought Billy did well and it was a good fight up until that point. He was making it awkward and then the punch happened and Mark had to stop the fight.

“I had to f------ go through that one didn't I? He made his decision really quickly but I'm not going to rub it in for Billy. He will be going through it now with the eye injury and how the fight ended. Maybe he will regret what he said about me, maybe this might teach him something. It could be a life lesson.

“Any loss, stoppage or whatever is going to be a depressing thing. I've heard the injury is bad. Will he come back? We will see but I'm sure he can. We might bond over it, fighters can get along together. Best of enemies and all that, look at David Haye and Derek Chisora who boxed each other and are now working together. This business is interesting and things like that can happen.”

Joyce exacted his own revenge.

It had 'eff all to do with BS. Fancy comparing a list of DDD's errors in judgement to BS's ?
