Let's see who beats Isaac Chilemba.
I'd still quite like to see Yarde.
They don't seem overconfident of matching him at that level at the moment for some reason and from Eddie's tone it didn't seem like they fancied the Spider too .dr_devious wrote: ↑15 May 2021, 18:13Or Yarde, or Arthur, or Johnson.
Pitiful that these fights aren't being made
It really felt like a British title fight though. Levels and all.margaret thatcher wrote: ↑15 May 2021, 16:03 nice win cunningham, another guy who couldnt win the british but does it for euro
Dos Santos was puffed up to the max. Bookies were not fooled either.handsofstone wrote: ↑15 May 2021, 17:55 Stunning KO from Buatsi that, didnt even need that second right hand, the first one had him out, showed viciousness which is always good, how Dos Santos managed to go unbeaten in 15 is a miracle, he looks like he's been boxing 6 weeks, his balance and guard were all over the gaff, not really sure what happened for th knockdown in the 2nd, a cuffing right maybe, Buatsi just stalked him, cut the ring off and walked him down, KO came a bit of out of nowhere but god damn, sent Dos Santos to the shadow realm
He is top of my UK up and coming list. Really impressive. That was a very well conditioned Appleyard he dominated.
I think that’s more that Eddie just doesn’t really like to match his fighters against each other.rd350lc wrote: ↑15 May 2021, 18:20They don't seem overconfident of matching him at that level at the moment for some reason and from Eddie's tone it didn't seem like they fancied the Spider too .dr_devious wrote: ↑15 May 2021, 18:13Or Yarde, or Arthur, or Johnson.

He reminds me quite a lot of Kell Brook - particularly with his shot accuracy. His punches look like they hurt, just not quite the power to take guys out in one shot early in a fight.
He does it occasionally but needs to get over it and do it more often. Would be a good fight. I’m also surprised his got Buatsi in for the European title. Igor Mikhalkin is fighting for the vacant title in a few months - it would have been a reasonable opponent for tonight.Allas wrote: ↑16 May 2021, 03:45Doesn’t like to match his own fighters and doesn’t like to work with other promoters. He won’t be when he’s so inactive and fighting these kind of fights but there’s been plenty of fighters that have become stars when you don’t expect them to. I never thought Carl Froch would be fighting in front of 80,000 fans at Wembley when I saw him fight Dirrell in a 60% full Nottingham arena.
Did a great job with Sunny Edwards. I was commenting on his huge cheers every time his son landed on Appleyard. I'm surprised the ref didn't have a word. I'm not interested in "the Sheffield scene" - it reminds me of Human Leaguemickey1975 wrote: ↑16 May 2021, 02:57He's also a brilliant trainer. Have you got problems with him on the Sheffield scene?
Do you think it'd sell out the 02? I've got a funny feeling that it wouldn't.maverick23 wrote: ↑16 May 2021, 04:36He won’t be when he’s so inactive and fighting these kind of fights but there’s been plenty of fighters that have become stars when you don’t expect them to. If Yarde comes back and beats Arthur then him vs Buatsi at the end of the year could sell out the O2. He’s not going to do any of the trash talk so needs activity, brutal displays and fights against meaningful/known opponents.
I think it probably would but both would have to fight a couple of times before then and look good.Cyclops wrote: ↑16 May 2021, 08:11Do you think it'd sell out the 02? There aren’t many fights in a normal year that draw 8,000 without a big name on them - particularly involving 2 guys that hadn’t had 10 fights yet.mickey1975 wrote: ↑16 May 2021, 10:10 They were both undefeated local rivals and it still wasn't half full.
That was well hyped as well, first card of the year. Sky hyped it well, so did IFL and so on.maverick23 wrote: ↑16 May 2021, 10:36There aren’t many fights in a normal year that draw 8,000 without a big name on them - particularly involving 2 guys that hadn’t had 10 fights yet.mickey1975 wrote: ↑16 May 2021, 10:10 They were both undefeated local rivals and it still wasn't half full.
Outside of them, when was the last time 2 U.K. fighters, each of less than 10 fights, drew that kind of crowd?
How many fights did Groves and Degale have. That was nearly full.maverick23 wrote: ↑16 May 2021, 10:36There aren’t many fights in a normal year that draw 8,000 without a big name on them - particularly involving 2 guys that hadn’t had 10 fights yet.mickey1975 wrote: ↑16 May 2021, 10:10 They were both undefeated local rivals and it still wasn't half full.

It was Degale’s 11th and Groves’ 13th. They also benefited from the amateur rivalry and Degale’s profile from the Olympic gold coupled with additional hype it got with it being PPV.mickey1975 wrote: ↑16 May 2021, 12:02How many fights did Groves and Degale have. McGregor and Farooq had a pretty decent crowd at the Emirates Arena in Glasgow, not sure how many the indoor arena holds - maybe 7k? Think Farooq may have had over ten fights but not McGregor.maverick23 wrote: ↑16 May 2021, 12:11It was Degale’s 11th and Groves’ 13th. I genuinely can’t think of another fight that sold that well between 2 U.K. guys with less than 10 fights each.
