Tank ain't even in a hurry to fight the top dogs in his own weight class. He's hiding under the PBC banner, and won't fight the top guys as long as he doesn't have to.bobcatbox wrote: ↑28 Dec 2020, 23:59It’s on Tank to move up in a hurry for it then. To be fair to him or Teo there’s still a lot of time to make that fight at a heavier weight. Maybe 140 or catch weight at like 138 down the line.
Teo vs Taylor at 140 is mouth watering. Would be awesome to see him knock off two top guys.
I’m kinda like others in this thread. Personally wouldn’t mind Loma II (and III if necessary).
Man that’s such a good fight to imagine. How am I supposed to sleep now? Thanks bro.

Hearn: Teofimo Lopez Wants $10 Million For Haney Fight - It's Not Going To Happen, He's Not Even Undisputed
Teofimo Lopez Jr. scored the most significant upset of 2020 when he slugged his way to a unanimous decision win over Vasiliy Lomachenko.
In doing so, he unified the 135-pound division with the WBO, WBA, IBF and WBC Franchise titles. Lopez (16-0, 12 KOs) has been on a victory lap since October calling himself the undisputed lightweight champion.
Matchroom Boxing head Eddie Hearn wants to remind Lopez that the “undisputed” title is actually incorrect.
“I know Teofimo just bought a T-shirt range out, ‘Undisputed.’ I think he should call those back in and change the logo,” Hearn told Boxing Social. “I did say to him, and this is my honest opinion, he should be undisputed. We shouldn’t be in this position that we’re in, but [Teofimo] is not undisputed because the other governing bodies do not recognize the Franchise champion is someone that can unify. So the only way he can become undisputed by fact and on paper is to fight Devin Haney. He deserves to be undisputed. He beat the No. 1 lightweight, who used to be undisputed in Vasiliy Lomachenko.”
A fight between Lopez and Haney (25-0, 15 KOs) would finally clear the muddied lightweight title picture, but Hearn believes Lopez is pricing himself out from a potential fight.
“I think Teofimo Lopez against Haney is a wonderful fight. Listen, [Teofimo] asked me for $10 million for that fight,” said Hearn. “You can’t get there, but I’m sure we can make him a nice offer. Teofimo is a nightmare at the moment for Bob Arum, and Bob isn’t mincing his words at the moment. He’s had enough. So [Teofimo’s] saying, ‘I want this, $5 million minimum, I want $8 [million], I want $9, I want $10 [million].’ So right now, I’ll leave that to Bob and Top Rank to put those numbers together because in this world right now, it ain’t going to happen.”
As much as everyone would welcome a Lopez and Haney fight, the Brooklyn-based Honduran will most likely take on his IBF mandatory challenger next in George Kambosos Jr. (19-0, 10 KOs). The bout is slated to take place sometime in the spring in Australia.
Lopez plans on fighting three times in 2021. If one of the other two opponents is Haney, the title of “undisputed” can officially be bestowed.
“Well, [Lopez vs. Haney] is an incredible fight, and going back to those Four Kings [of the 1980s], every one of the [current lightweights] fighting each other is an incredible fight,” said Hearn.

Lopez told Sky Sports:
“We’re going to make the fight happen. I tried to save his career. I did. I kid you not. I tried to protect his career. I told him, ‘Hey three to five years, work your way up.’ But now, he’s got out of hand, and it got me going now, so we’re going to start pressing him on it. Me and my father, we’re on the same page. I believe Devin Haney will be next.”

Devin Haney: Teofimo Lopez is a Liar, His Lies Don't Add Up
WBC lightweight champion Devin Haney has indicated that Teofimo Lopez must face him in order to establish "who the real king is" at 135-pounds.
In a recent interview, Lopez expressed his desire to face Haney before the end of the year.
The next assignment for Lopez, who holds the IBF, WBC Franchise, WBA, WBO titles, is a likely mandatory title defense against George Kambosos, which is currently heading to a purse bid.
Haney does not believe Lopez is serious about his intentions to come together for a fight.
"This guy is a liar. Watch his interviews. He says one thing in one interview, then says a different thing in a different interview. One day he's going to send me and [his mandatory challenger] George Kambosos Jr. a contract to see who signs it first. One day he's going to save my career. One day this, one day that. His lies don't add up," Haney told Sky Sports.
There are several lucrative options for Haney at lightweight - with undefeated stars like Ryan Garcia and Gervonta 'Tank' Davis.
Garcia holds the WBC's interim-title at the weight, while Davis is the WBA's "regular" champion.
But, Haney's preferred opponent is Lopez, who last year shocked the sport when he secured an upset unanimous decision over Vasiliy Lomachenko.
"Because I want all of the belts. We need to know who the real king is at 135lbs is. Who is the real undisputed champion? The only way to settle that is for us to fight. I see Teofimo as the No 1 threat then 'Tank' Davis. I feel like 'Tank' is really a 130-pound fighter. He had trouble with Yuriorkis Gamboa moving up in weight - he is a lot smaller than the other guys at 135-pounds," Haney said.

Hearn: We Can Pay Teofimo A Lot More To Face Haney Than He'll Make To Fight Josh Taylor
“Yeah, maybe,” Hearn told a group of reporters Saturday night in reference to Lopez possibly boxing Taylor rather than Haney. “But that’s the problem with boxing, is [promoter Bob Arum is] doing that for the benefit of Top Rank and the network [ESPN], instead of the fighter. But again, if Teofimo wanted that fight, then there’s nothing we can do about it. But I think we can pay him a lot more to fight Devin Haney than they would pay him to fight Josh Taylor. But that is also an excellent fight. So, if they made that fight, you can’t really complain.”
Lopez said he wants to fight Haney next..
“I don’t know what’s happening with Teofimo, with Top Rank,” Hearn said. “And is there a legal issue around the contract because of what happened [before the purse bid February 25] and whatever? But, you know, the great thing is, like I said, normally it’s a network issue that will give you the excuse. With this, it’s like, ‘This is how it’s gonna be. Teofimo, here is your offer to fight Devin Haney. And if you also want to entertain that on ESPN, no problem at all.’ So, in that respect, how can you not have a conversation about it?”

Re: Teofimo Lopez vs. Devin Haney - Negotiations
Haney passed his test. Teofimo best be focused or he may not pass his.
Re: Teofimo Lopez vs. Devin Haney - Negotiations
It's comical to hear Lopez talk as if he is this old veteran boxer, saying Haney is still young and needs to develop more to get to his level.
Aren't they basically the same age and experience level? It's a 50/50 fight I think.

Re: Teofimo Lopez vs. Devin Haney - Negotiations
I agree. Teo seems to be falling prey to the thinking that he is suddenly much more than he was prior to defeating Lomassiah. It was a great victory but the Ukrainian’s poor strategy was nearly as much the cause as Teo’s performance.

teofimo unified the titles and clearly beat a p4per at 23 (without doing a jig or making love to him), he's ahead of haney for sure now. id also rate his blast out of commey as more impressive than any haney win. and remember dev only got his title , and via email, because loma was wbc champ and then got 'upgraded' to that franchise nonsense
sure he talks, just like all the young lw talents do, but he's been delivering and has done so at the elite level

Re: Teofimo Lopez vs. Devin Haney - Negotiations
No doubt that he has obviously accomplished more than Haney, but he does NOT possess Lomassiah level gifts and skill. He best be more focused than he appears to be for the imminent test he currently faces.margaret thatcher wrote: ↑03 Jun 2021, 12:35 teofimo unified the titles and clearly beat a p4per at 23 (without doing a jig or making love to him), he's ahead of haney for sure now. id also rate his blast out of commey as more impressive than any haney win

Re: Teofimo Lopez vs. Devin Haney - Negotiations
i think he's quite skillful and has the power to go with it, he also showed good qualities in being able to press the fight vs loma (a lot can get lulled into a chess match vs boxers like that) and to end strong, which haney never did as he was still hurt and hugging like someone in need of love
he talks, just like haney, garcia, tank, etc but he's backed it up so far and at a very high level. the win over loma was really good and he's looked top drawer pretty much every time out

Re: Teofimo Lopez vs. Devin Haney - Negotiations
Totally agree. I think that Teo (similar to Taylor) cannot afford to lose focus v opponents he is expected to defeat. This is his first test post Lomassiah and the inevitable distractions that go with graduating to top shelf.margaret thatcher wrote: ↑03 Jun 2021, 12:42 i think he's quite skillful and has the power to go with it, he also showed good qualities in being able to press the fight vs loma (a lot can get lulled into a chess match vs boxers like that) and to end strong, which haney never did as he was still hurt and hugging like someone in need of love

Teofimo Lopez: Devin Haney is next target after George Kambosos Jr
“He did what he had to do, you know what I mean,” Lopez said. “He did what Devin ‘The Dream’ does, and he boxed and he showed what he can do, however he does not have the power but we cannot overlook that.
“Whatever happened between those rounds happened and all Devin can do now is go back to the drawing board and work on it. And if he doesn’t and if he’s satisfied with what he has then, shit — regardless you’re gonna get your ass whipped by Teofimo and that’s just really what it comes down to. I’m coming for you, but right now it’s just all about June 19th, getting rid of my guy and then after that I’m coming straight to you. Ain’t no fuckin’ way around it.
“Ain’t no way around it, you been talking so much and I just can’t wait to show everyone the fraud that you are and how fake you really are. I need to get you out of this boxing game because you don’t deserve to be here, that’s how I feel.”
On the supposed new era of ‘The Four Kings’
“I’m gonna be honest, I think that was an insult. I think it was an insult for whoever threw out that ‘Four Kings’ for this era. It was an insult to those guys (Leonard, Hagler, Hearns, and Duran). Whoever is doing this, you don’t know shit about boxing. Sorry, but you don’t and you gotta check yourself before you wreck yourself because in reality that’s what it really comes down to. Those guys haven’t really shown anything to even get to the point of being acknowledged. We haven’t shown anything yet. Even I can say for myself, I haven’t shown anything yet. But don’t put me in that category because I’ve shown more than they have.
“Don’t do that to those guys, those were fighters. These guys, they ain’t fuckin’ fighters, they fuckin’ internet famous, clout-chasing, dick-riding motherfuckers at the end of it all. And they just suck dick, that’s really what they do. All they do is suck dick and go on to the next one. I don’t do that.”
