Kambosos looks like a tough-hungry fighter. He has speed and grit. He's no joke. Lopez should not overlook him. He was in the same position before he fought Loma.
Re: Teofimo Lopez vs. George Kambosos Jr. - June 19, 2021
Agreed. Kambosas has a decent little shoulder roll that gets him good body shots followed by hooks upstairs. Very quick.apollo creed wrote: ↑14 May 2021, 13:12 Kambosos looks like a tough-hungry fighter. He has speed and grit. He's no joke. Lopez should not overlook him. He does tend to leap in, which could get him clipped v Teofimo.

Teofimo Lopez to make first title defense vs. George Kambosos Jr. on June 19 in Miami
Teofimo Lopez will make his first title defense as undisputed lightweight champion against George Kambosos Jr. on June 19 at Miami's loanDepot Park, Triller Fight Club announced Tuesday.
The card will be co-headlined by a women's super middleweight bout between Franchon Crews-Dezurn and Elin Cederroos, with all four world championship belts on the line.
Lopez (16-0, 12 KOs), 23, who became the undisputed champion last year by taking four belts from Vasiliy Lomachenko, is No. 5 in the ESPN pound-for-pound rankings.
He is No. 1 in the ESPN lightweight rankings, while Kambosos (19-0, 10 KOs), the mandatory IBF challenger from Australia, is ranked 10th.
Triller is a relative newcomer to the boxing promotion business. The tech company made headlines in November by promoting the exhibition between former champions Mike Tyson and Roy Jones Jr., and in February it won the right to promote the mandatory defense of Lopez, one of boxing's rising stars.

Triller raises Teofimo Lopez vs George Kambosos PPV price to $59.99
Fans will need to drop an extra $10 for a Triller PPV this time around
Purchase here
In hindsight, paying over twice the market value for the rights to Teofimo Lopez vs George Kambosos may have been too much. In a February 25 purse bid, Triller shocked the boxing world by blowing away Top Rank and Matchroom’s bids of $2.3 and $3.5 million with a wild $6.018 million offer of its own.
Now it appears the company is realizing how much it overestimated the public’s demand for what is a pretty ordinary title defense. Kambosos is a solid fighter and a deserving mandatory, but if we’re being honest it’s difficult to imagine him posing much of a threat to dethrone Lopez. In any case, it’s not a matchup that had fans clamoring for a PPV.
Triller’s last two PPV’s were reasonably priced at $49.99 USD, which undoubtedly played some role in the success of these events. However, Triller are charging $59.99 for Lopez-Kambosos, which is either another miscalculation of the value of this matchup, or a panicked move to claw back some of the money thrown away during the purse bid.
Another cause for concern here is that despite being well known in boxing circles, Teofimo Lopez doesn’t have the same kind of name recognition or ‘casual’ appeal as Mike Tyson, Roy Jones, or Jake Paul. On the other hand, this is more of an honest-to-goodness boxing event than the last two Triller PPVs, with some competitive matchups up and down the card.
None of that will likely be enough to convince many boxing fans to pay $60 for an average main event, one that happens to be scheduled for the same evening as Jermall Charlo-Montiel on Showtime, Munguia-Sulecki on DAZN, Inoue-Dasmarinas on ESPN, and Julio Cesar Chavez Jr-Anderson Silva on PPV.
For what it’s worth, the Triller website in Canada lists the Lopez-Kambosos PPV at $39.99 USD, so there may still be time to meet in the middle.

I like this fight.
I'm a big furious George fan.
And I'm not paying for it.
Screw you Triller, screw you and the horse you rode in on.
It ain't PPV. Not even close.

Yes, but they don't realise that fighters earn ppv status by being entertaining, successful, approachable and actually being SEEN doing that.
Making people pay to see a fighter just because he has a (one of many) belt isn't going to work.
Which is why boxing is circling the drain. Greedy outlets want the sort of fights they can get people to pay for without making the effort to bring fighters along so the public actually know who they are.
That is ehy we get Jake Paul making stupid money on the back of a youtube career and not boxing, while Lopez has been grinding it out all his life

Press Release | Musical Acts Announced
Triller Fight Club today announced the ticket prices for their June 19 event, dubbed “Fight Club-Greatest Showman.”
There will be a full concert prior to the actual boxing card.
Representing Miami’s first “full open seating” event post-COVID, the first concert of the new Triller Live Concert Series will see Hip Hop superstar Meek Mill, Latin star Myke Towers, and Reggaeton artist Lunay performing a full-set concert prior to the start of the Fight Club event at loanDepot park.
“This line-up will be as good as the best of the best festivals,” said Triller Fight Club partner Snoop Dogg. “For the first time ever we’re offering fans two for one, come see an epic world-class concert followed by the year’s most important boxing event.”
The concert kicks off at 7:30pm EDT, with Meek Mill, Myke Towers and Lunay—and others to be announced.
In the main event of the boxing card, Teofimo Lopez will defend the IBF, WBA, WBO, WBC "Franchise' lightweight titles against mandatory challenger George Kambosos Jr.
In the co-feature, there will be four-belt unification between super middleweight champions Franchon ‘The Heavy-Hitting Diva’ Crews-Dezurn and Elin Cederroos.
“Come for the concert, come for the Greatest Showman show, come for the dancing, come for the boxing, or come for it all,” said Ryan Kavanaugh, co-owner of Triller.
“Unlike past events, the concert will be first, so if you only want the concert, you can do that. If it’s not your cup of tea, come for the boxing and the show, or come for all of it. We have something for everyone.”
Prices will range from $150 to $10,000 and will include options from VIP custom dining service at ringside to traditional seats in the stadium upper and lower bowls, with the ring positioned at the pitcher’s mound and two entertainment stages set up on either side.
“The fights will be the focus during the fight window and the music during the music window, so fight fans and music fans alike will be able to watch what they love, uninterrupted,” added Kavanaugh.

Kambosos: Lopez is a Fraud, Has Fake Persona, That's Why Fans Want Me To Win!
Mandatory challenger George Kambosos Jr. (19-0, 10 KOs) has promised to do a real number on unified lightweight world champion Teofimo Lopez (16-0, 12 KOs).
Their fight is set for Saturday, June 19 at Miami’s loanDepot Park, and live on pay-per-view.
Kambosos has accused Lopez of being a fraud.
He says Lopez consistently issues contradicting statements - and Kambosos has accused him of posing as a fighter coming out of Brooklyn.
“Lopez is a fugazi, a fraud, a fake. He’s got a fake persona filled with contradictions. Two months ago, he was talking about how gone Pacquaiao was, now he’s all over him because of the Spence fight announcement. What you see with me is real and what you get is real," Kambosos said.
‘I’m more Brooklyn than Lopez is. He’s not from Brooklyn, he’s from here in Davie, FL where he went to school. It’s just a fake persona saying he’s from Brooklyn.
“The tremendous support I get from the American boxing fans is due to them wanting me to beat Lopez. They can see right through his fake persona.”
Lopez is predicting a very brutal knockout next month - and he plans to do it early.
Kambosos doubts that's going to happen - believing that he'll outbox Lopez for as long as their fight lasts.
“Whatever they’re saying, three rounds this and four rounds that. I’ll be laughing at him, coming forward and blasting away every round and after the third round, he’s in very big trouble," Kambosos said.
“We’ve got a great game plan. When I fight its full tunnel vision and there’s no way I’m not coming out victorious. I won’t be over emotional at what he’s said leading up to the fight. I don’t care what his Dad says about me, he’s never had a fight in his life. If he’s got a problem my Dad is here too and they can have a crack."

Re: Teofimo Lopez vs. George Kambosos Jr. - June 19, 2021
Interview: George Kambosos Jr.
IBF mandatory challenger George Kambosos Jr spoke to Peter Maniatis about challenging unified lightweight champion Teofimo Lopez on June 19 at the LoanDepot Park, Miami, Florida.
TRAINING IN MIAMI
“I am training hard and about to fight Teofimo Lopez (in Miami on June 19) for the undisputed championship with five belts on the line, pound for pound and fighter of the year on the line. My career is on the line and I have put the hard work in.”
COMPARED TO ARTURO GATTI
“It’s an honor to be compared to the great Arturo Gatti who was a helluva warrior. I always come to fight very sharp and I box very good. A lot of people underestimate my boxing skills. Coming into fights with my Greek background and Spartan warrior heritage and Australian heritage. Being born in Australia means the world to me. I have two countries behind me. I have so many supporters from Greece and Australia and when you mix that together with both that blood inside of you, you cannot be beat. Lopez doesn’t know what he is up against.”
PRESS CONFERENCE
“I got under Lopez’ skin at the press conference. When I stared into his eyes and locked in he saw what he was looking at and I saw exactly what he is about. He is a FAKE – A FUGAZI – A FRAUD. He is going to be found out. These guys he has fought couldn’t speak English. The Nakatani fight was close and could have been a draw. He got lucky against Commey and against Lomanchenko who didn’t throw three punches in the first six rounds. He had an injured shoulder and had been out for about 400 days. I am young and hungry. Lopez is a bully. He likes to be the guy on the front foot who is dominant. When I stand and put it back on the bully he will go into a shell. June 19 I am taking all his belts. I told him that to his face at the press conference.”
SPARRING MANNY PACQUIAO
“That’s my Ace up my sleeve. People don’t know what I did in that sparring. There is so much more artillery I have in my arsenal. Manny is an all-time great. Lopez said Manny was not human. Well, I did 250 rounds with him. A couple of months ago Lopez said Pacquiao is a nobody and he would bash Pacquiao. That’s the sort of people they are. They are disrespectful and have no class at all. As I said – the guy is a fraud. I know I have the support of Manny in my corner. I heard that first hand and I am looking forward to talking to him very soon.”
THE PEOPLES’ CHAMPION
“Before I beat Lee Selby (in England) and Micky Bey (in New York) I beat the top guys in Australia. I beat Ogilivie and Bella who were rated number one. They were supposed to destroy me. I destroyed those guys. I showed my class so it has been a long road. It was a long journey to the United States and I have had seven fights having been fighting champions in their backyards. The Micky Bey and Lee Selby fights were huge for my career. When you go in the ring with these guys – crafty champions who defended their belts multiple times, you learn more and more. People saw in the Selby fight how I outboxed and outclassed a guy like that. They are going to see so much more in this fight. I will fight on another level.
“The support is crazy man. From Australia and from Greece. I have the biggest social media platform in the country. I feel like I am the peoples’ champ. I am not getting the mainstream media support I should be getting. This is the biggest fight for an Australian ever. Which other fighter from Australia has fought for the undisputed title and all the belts in one hit? Australian boxers don’t come to the United States and fight their champions in their backyard.”
BECOMING WORLD CHAMPION
“My plan is to win all these belts and coming back home to defend. When I am the kingpin they will have no other choice than to defend in front of 80,000 fans in the beautiful stadium in Melbourne. After that, we might take a big fight to Greece. I have a lot of dreams and a lot of visions. I dreamt about fighting Lopez and when you manifest it becomes true. When I have all the belts around me it will be a beautiful sight and a beautiful victory.”

Undercard Press Release | Conwell-DeLuca, Zhang, Monroe, Robinson Added
Triller Fight Club has announced the full undercard for their June 19th card at Miami’s loanDepot Park, home of the Miami Marlins. FITE.tv will broadcast globally the undercard free-of-charge starting at 3:30pm ET with the Pay-Per-View starting at 9:00 p.m. ET.
The event is headlined by the first defense from Brooklyn, New York’s ‘The Takeover’ Teofimo Lopez, (16-0, 12 KOs), defending his lightweight titles against mandatory challenger, ‘Ferocious’ George Kambosos Jr., (19-0, 10 KOs), of Sydney, Australia scheduled for 12-rounds.
Headlining the undercard, 2016 U.S. Olympian, Charles ‘Bad News’ Conwell, (14-0, 11 KOs), of Cleveland, OH seeks to continue his march up the world rankings against his toughest test as a pro against Mark ‘The Bazooka’ DeLuca, (27-2, 15 KOs), of Whitman, MA.
The ten-round junior middleweight clash is contested for the USBA and WBC Continental Americas Title. The 23-year-old Conwell, one of boxing’s top prospects, has stopped his last two opponents inside the distance, Wendy Toussaint and Madiyar Ashkeyev, both of whom were previously undefeated. The battle-tested southpaw DeLuca returns to action following a first-round knockout of Michi Munoz on February 6, 2021.
In the middleweight division two-time world title challenger, Willie ‘El Mongoose’ Monroe Jr., (24-3, 6 KOs), of Rochester, NY clashes with heavy-handed Juan ‘La Amenaza’ De Angel, (22-13-1, 20 KOs), of Barranquilla, Colombia over ten-rounds. Currently riding a three-bout winning streak, Monroe Jr. makes his long-awaited return from a ten-round decision victory over Hugo Centeno Jr. on June 1, 2019. De Angel challenges Monroe Jr. following a hard fought loss to undefeated prospect Isaiah Steen on November 6, 2020.
In a battle of giant heavyweights, world ranked Zhilei ‘Bang Bang’ Zhang, (21-0-1, 17 KOs), of Zhouhou, China battles upset minded veteran Daniel ‘The Mountain’ Martz, (20-9-1, 17 KOs), of Clarksburg, WV in a scheduled ten rounder. The 6’6” southpaw Zhang returns to the ring following a hard-fought majority draw with Jerry Forrest on February 27, 2021 in Miami, FL. Standing 6’7”, Martz looks to stay in the win column following a first-round knockout of Michael Marrone on October 17, 2020.
19-year-old junior welterweight prospect Aaron ‘The Alien King’ Aponte, (3-0, 1 KOs), will face fellow undefeated prospect Gerardo Contreras Gonzalez, (2-0, 1 KO), of San Diego, CA in a four-round bout. The former amateur standout, standing 6’1”, Aponte has quickly impressed boxing fans in South Florida fighting in front of his wealth of supporters from Hialeah Gardens, FL. Prior to turning professional, Aponte compiled an amateur record of 98-18. Fighting on April 17, 2021, Aponte won a four-round unanimous decision over Javier Martinez in Hollywood, FL. Horrible undercard for a great main event. Why on earth are they going down this road? They could have made something special but instead they decided to do lameboxing101.

Teofimo Lopez: Devin Haney is next target after George Kambosos Jr
“He did what he had to do, you know what I mean,” Lopez said. “He did what Devin ‘The Dream’ does, and he boxed and he showed what he can do, however he does not have the power but we cannot overlook that.
“Whatever happened between those rounds happened and all Devin can do now is go back to the drawing board and work on it. And if he doesn’t and if he’s satisfied with what he has then, shit — regardless you’re gonna get your ass whipped by Teofimo and that’s just really what it comes down to. I’m coming for you, but right now it’s just all about June 19th, getting rid of my guy and then after that I’m coming straight to you. Ain’t no fuckin’ way around it.
“Ain’t no way around it, you been talking so much and I just can’t wait to show everyone the fraud that you are and how fake you really are. I need to get you out of this boxing game because you don’t deserve to be here, that’s how I feel.”
On the supposed new era of ‘The Four Kings’
“I’m gonna be honest, I think that was an insult. I think it was an insult for whoever threw out that ‘Four Kings’ for this era. It was an insult to those guys (Leonard, Hagler, Hearns, and Duran). Whoever is doing this, you don’t know shit about boxing. Sorry, but you don’t and you gotta check yourself before you wreck yourself because in reality that’s what it really comes down to. Those guys haven’t really shown anything to even get to the point of being acknowledged. We haven’t shown anything yet. Even I can say for myself, I haven’t shown anything yet. But don’t put me in that category because I’ve shown more than they have.
“Don’t do that to those guys, those were fighters. These guys, they ain’t fuckin’ fighters, they fuckin’ internet famous, clout-chasing, dick-riding motherfuckers at the end of it all. And they just suck dick, that’s really what they do. All they do is suck dick and go on to the next one. I don’t do that.”

Re: Teofimo Lopez vs. George Kambosos Jr. - June 19, 2021
Teofimo Lopez Gives High Praise To Triller: They Know Exactly What They're Doing!
WBA, IBF, WBC Franchise, WBO lightweight champion Teofimo Lopez is less than two weeks away from his mandatory defense against George Kambosos.
The contest will take place on June 19 in the main event of a Triller Fight Club pay-per-view from LoanDepot Park in Miami, Florida.
The promoter for Lopez (16-0, 12 KOs), Top Rank, was outbid at the IBF's purse bid, with Triller securing the promotional rights to the ordered fight with Kambosos.
Triller has loaded up the event with celebrities, several live performances, and a full boxing undercard.
“Triller Fight Club and Triller, they know exactly what they’re doing,” Lopez said to Press Enterprise. “With the amount of entertainment that I’m actually going to be involved in with these guys and the amount of talent that they have here, it’s phenomenal and I can’t believe it. Sometimes it’s like, ‘Whoa.’”
Based on what Top Rank had offered him to face Kambosos, Lopez felt that he wasn't being given the proper respect as the unified champion - and he says Triller stepped up to the plate.
“I’ll risk it every time for myself,” Lopez said. “I’ll bet on myself and I’ll double down every time. It’s not about the money. It’s about the respect … I’m the undisputed lightweight champion, then treat him like the undisputed lightweight champion.
“But hey, things happen and at least Triller saw it. Now we’re in the ‘TrillerManila’ and we’re just doing our thing, so it’s just that now. I’m giving them the flavor. I’m giving them the sauce. I’m giving them the things they want to see from a fighter standpoint. And the entertainment part is what I’m going to bring. I’m not just a boxer, I’m not a brawler, I’m an entertainer when it’s all said and done.”
Despite what happened in the last few months, Lopez is not holding a grudge against Top Rank.
“We’re cordial,” Lopez said. “We’re partners in some way right now at the moment. Ain’t nothing personal. It’s just business.”

Re: Teofimo Lopez vs. George Kambosos Jr. - June 19, 2021
Triller is going to lose some proper cash here... Teo is going to expect to get payed this much going fowards to fight sub standard guys, that will get interesting. And kambosos might be the most average boxer ever to make millions of dollars in the lower weights, stoked for him to get paid but i dont think he wins a round (no matter how long it lasts).

yep, this is a plain stoopid overpay (though still not 10m for garcia-vargas levels). they could've paid out like 3m less and still gotten the fight

yep, he says he's doing everything under his own promotion thingy and never doing triller again
trillers only hope to be able to afford 6m for fights like this was to have those mainstream celebs like tyson and the paul bros attract huge numbers, theyve all left already though
