Re: Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez vs. Caleb Plant - September 11, 2021
“We’ve exchanged some numbers on our side, and I see Canelo on Wednesday to go through everything with him,” said Hearn to the DAZN Boxing Show.
“But nothing has changed from the process of getting an offer from DAZN, an offer from Fox, and then deciding what everybody feels is best for the fighters.
“There will be some discussions from both sides; that’s the purpose of this week, to go through the financials and then get things moving,” said Hearn.
“But after this week, you’re going to see Canelo and Eddie Reynoso getting ready for camp,” said Hearn. “Caleb Plant is the one that everybody wants.”

Caleb Plant explains why he deserves $10M+ for Canelo fight
“I got a much bigger fanbase in the United States; I do much more viewership than any of his past opponents,” said Caleb Plant to spam when asked if he deserves a bigger purse than Billy Joe Saunders and Callum Smith got paid to fight Canelo.
“My last fight [against Caleb Truax] did two million views against somebody who if I had a real name in there with me, the numbers would be outrageous.
“I got the highest watched FS1 show of all time with almost a million views.
“My viewership is up there. I got a good team around me, Al Haymon….and they’re going to sit down real soon, and we’re going to try and get it worked out.
“I’ve got a great team around me. You don’t see anybody out with 21 fights in the position I’m in with or without the Canelo fight.
“The viewership, what I get paid, nothing. We got a great team around me, and we’re going to do whatever we can to make that happen,” said Plant about the Canelo fight,” said Plant.
Caleb wanted an eight-week camp for Canelo fight
“I’m not focused on that. I’m focusing on staying in the gym doing what I do,” said Plant when asked about the Canelo Alvarez negotiations.
“We didn’t want to take the fight beforehand to let my hand heal up all the way. It would be a shame to jump in there too quick and reinjured my hand and not be able to give the fans the undisputed fight.
“We’re taking our time, and we’re going to sit down soon and try and get it worked out.
“It was one where it was five weeks away, four training weeks,” said Plant when asked if he’d been given an offer in the past to fight Canelo.
“It was never an official offer or anything like that. It was just in the air, basically any super middleweight. Myself and any other super middleweight besides Callum Smith, we were all on board.
“I’m a world-class fighter; I deserve world-class respect. That’s an eight-week training camp.
“If you’re the pound-for-pound, the face of the sport, there should be no issue to give your opponent an eight-week camp,” said Plant.

I said 10 million was the magic number from the start, still believe that. wont be a cent more though, dont say 10 million plus if your expecting 12 million, you say 12 million plus..
plants not worth it, thats clear, but the fight helps canelo so much moving fowards, once you go undisputed you can do whatever the fornicate you want, dont have to look at mandatories ect, because you did it, its done, take the belt and miss your fees sanctioning bodys...

Plant is doing a right thing with trying to price up. Canelo decided to fulfill a legacy aspect of the undisputed championship in the easiest division. The nearby MW and LHW would be more challenging for the redhead, while the LHW limit is more natural for him physically. Yet he has chosen the SMW.

Canelo vs. Plant Discussions Playing Out For September, Says Hearn
Promoter Eddie Hearn, who works with WBO, WBA, WBC super middleweight champion Saul 'Canelo' Alvarez, is still trying to work out a potential fall unification with IBF champion Caleb Plant.
Back in May, Canelo unified three of the four major titles at 168-pounds, when he stopped Billy Joe Saunders before a crowd of over 70,000 fans in Texas. It was Canelo's third fight since December of last year.
Canelo's goal is to fight in the month of September - and Plant is the frontrunner to face him.
But, the negotiations to make that fight are playing out slower than anticipated - which may force Canelo and Hearn to explore alternative options if a deal is not finalized in a timely manner.
”[Regarding Plant], there's conversations to be had over the next sort of three, four, or five days, and it needs to gather pace. I don't think there's anything negative to say about it. This is clearly the fight Canelo Alvarez wants. He wants to become undisputed champion. But at the same time, September is his date, you know, and if the Plant fight’s not available now and has to be made in December or whatever, I think Canelo's mindset is: ‘I want to keep the momentum that I have right now,’ Hearn told the DAZN Boxing Show.
“And you know, let's not forget this guy's boxed three times in, you know, what, seven months, eight months, and it will be four flights in 10 months, which as a pound-for-pound number one in a pandemic is incredible.
“My instructions from Canelo, Alvarez, and Eddy Reynoso were, you know, what we want, we want Caleb Plant, but if that's not possible for September, show me the champions we can face. Clearly, a move up to 175, for now, is also on the agenda if that undisputed fight can't get made.”

Think it will be plant. Canelo has his undisputed goal, and plant is looking at a massive carreer high payday. Only risk is plant getting too cheeky and wanting to much? But ultimately will he have the balls to actualy let 10 million disappear cause he is asking for 12? (Hypothetical numbers).

Hearn Urges Plant To Pressure His Team To Make Canelo Fight
Eddie Hearn, who works with WBC, WBO, WBA super middleweight champion Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez, is still trying to work out the particulars for a potential full division unification with IBF champion Caleb Plant.
If a deal is reached, the contest would take place on a date in September.
Canelo saw action back in May, when he added the WBO title to his collection with an eight round stoppage of Billy Joe Saunders.
However, Hearn is not convinced that Plant's handlers are enthusiastic about the fight - as the negotiations are playing out at a slower pace than anticipated.
He believes Al Haymon, the founder of Premier Boxing Champions, has other plans in mind for Plant - like using that missing piece of the world title puzzle to sign Canelo to a multi-fight deal. Canelo is technically a free agent and works with Hearn on a fight by fight basis.
“Al Haymon doesn't really want to give up Caleb Plant, you know, to Canelo Alvarez. I didn't know that. Well, I mean, I'm presuming I mean, I think that that's pretty obvious. Like, if you've got a belt and a piece of that 168-pound division... really, he will want to use that almost as bait to bring Canelo in and sign a five-fight deal or six-fight deal, because he knows how bad Canelo wants to be undisputed," Hearn told the DAZN Boxing Show.
“It comes down to the fighter that, you know, the fighters, they trust advisors they treat, you know, maybe they've got a better plan. But where I'm looking at it, there's a huge amount of money on the table for Caleb Plant to fight Alvarez in September. But it's really down to him.
“You know, if he really wants to create his own legacy, if he really believes he can win, then he's got to be the guy that stands up and says, 'I'm actually sorry, you know, I appreciate you might want me to fight [David] Benavidez instead, or someone else said, but actually, this is my moment, and I believe I can beat Canelo'.”

I'm not 100% sure what Reynoso's cryptic tweet is referring to, but I’m hoping he’s hinting that Canelo’s next fight against Caleb Plant or Artur Beterbiev (preferably the latter) being made official within the next day or so.

Canelo vs GGG III @ 168lbs?
Canelo vs Beterbiev or Bivol?
Or probably PBC want to have Canelo fighting Charlo too after Plant, like a two fights deal agreeing ?

Re: Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez vs. Caleb Plant - September 11, 2021
Sources: Canelo Alvarez and Caleb Plant finalizing Sept. 18 bout for undisputed super middleweight title
Canelo Alvarez is inching toward his goal of collecting all four titles at 168 pounds.
Alvarez, boxing's biggest star, and Caleb Plant are in the process of finalizing a deal for a Sept. 18 bout in Las Vegas -- a PBC on Fox pay-per-view -- that will crown an undisputed super middleweight champion, multiple sources tell ESPN. Canelo, a promotional and network free agent, was offered a one-fight deal with Al Haymon's Premier Boxing Champions that will likely net Alvarez (56-1-2, 38 KOs) a career-high guaranteed payday.
He earned $35 million guaranteed for three fights with DAZN and nearly $40 million for the rematch with Gennadiy Golovkin. Alvarez's last three matchups were promoted by Eddie Hearn's Matchroom Sport. It's unclear whether Hearn will be involved in the promotion of this fight. The Mexican star is coming off an eight-round stoppage win over Billy Joe Saunders, where he inflicted a fully fractured orbital bone on the English boxer that required surgery.
That Cinco De Mayo weekend victory was in the midst of extraordinary in-ring activity for a boxer of Alvarez's stature. Superstar fighters routinely fight just twice a year, and that used to be the case for Alvarez. His two dates have traditionally been Cinco De Mayo weekend and Mexican Independence Day weekend in September. Yet he also fought in December, a decision win over Callum Smith to claim the unified 168-pound championship, and stayed busy with a third-round TKO of Avni Yildirim in February. The bout with Plant will be Alvarez's fourth in nine months.
Alvarez is ESPN's No. 1 pound-for-pound boxer (and its No. 1 at 168 pounds). He has won titles at 154 pounds, 160 and 175 and has won every fight since his draw with GGG in 2018. His focus has been on a fight with Plant, but a Plan B option that was explored would pit him against light heavyweight champion Dmitry Bivol on DAZN. A deal with Haymon, even for only one fight, would be a major coup for PBC, the organization that has network deals with Fox and Showtime.
Haymon's three-year deal with Fox expires later this year but includes a network option for a fourth year, per sources. A fight between Alvarez and Plant would be sandwiched between two other major PPV fights: Manny Pacquiao-Errol Spence Jr. on Aug. 21 (Fox) and Tyson Fury-Deontay Wilder on Oct. 9 (ESPN+/Fox).
PBC boasts the deepest stable of talent in boxing but isn't nearly as top heavy as Top Rank; six of the top eight fighters on ESPN's pound-for-pound list are promoted by Bob Arum. Spence is the lone PBC fighter in that group.
Alvarez (56-1-2, 38 KOs) is a box-office bonanza no matter whom he fights, but he hasn't been able to flex his proverbial muscle on PPV in three years. His past three bouts were offered on pay-per-view, but that wasn't a major revenue driver since they were available for substantially less money as part of a monthly subscription to DAZN.
Alvarez's two fights with Golovkin both generated more than 1 million PPV buys; his 2013 matchup with Floyd Mayweather pushed past 2 million.
Plant, of course, isn't nearly as well-known as either of those stars, but there's reason to believe he'll make for a commercially viable foil for Alvarez. The 29-year-old has headlined on Fox in three consecutive fights and isn't shy when it comes to boasting about his talent and dedication to the sport.
A self-professed gym rat, the boxer from Nashville possesses one of boxing's best jabs. He also owns lightning-quick hands and excellent footwork to go along with a powerful frame for the 168-pound division at 6-foot-1.
What Plant (21-0, 12 KOs) has lacked is top-flight opposition. His best opponent was Jose Uzcategui in Plant's title-winning effort. He also has had hand issues, including in his most recent victory.
The fight with Alvarez will see Plant rise several levels in class. He, too, will earn a career-high payday (by multiple millions). Although he hasn't been tested, he has looked the part in all his fights and is rated No. 3 at 168 pounds by ESPN.
After Alvarez picked up a third title in May in front of more than 70,000 fans in Arlington, Texas, he delivered a message to Plant: "I'm coming, my friend."
It's almost time.

Oh, great, thanks.
I see it as a competetive full-distance fight with Canelo's edge, but, of course, it will be wider on the official scores.
