I know this stuff primarily because my family are from South London, I'm related to Peter Hennessy who had the straightener with Eddie Richardson the night Dickie Hart got shot in Dr Smith and the Witchdoctor in Catford.
Peter subsequently got done by Paddy Onions a few years later at a boxing dinner.
Paddy Onions got done in turn by Jimmy Davey from Coventry who ended up getting choked out and dying by a copper.

There are also plenty of books out there that factually record what happened back then. Former Southern Area board official (and brief to Frank Fraser) James Morton has written a few that cut out all the biased myth and reports the facts.

James (jimmy) davey is my grandad who unfortunately I never got to meet, I have heard part of information from my mother. But does anyone know where I can find some real information about what happened and what he was like anywhere?
Thanks

Just finished the book the gangster and the peer about Ronnie Kray and Boothby.

No idea why east Enders idolised them so much after what they got up to.

There's supposed to be links between Jimmy Saville, the Moors Murderers, Sutcliffe, and Ronnie and Reggie Kray as well.

As much as I would be fascinated by this, there's nothing really substantial.

Let's just say they're all c*nts and that if there is a hell, they're all frying tonight.

None of which is as bad as being a rapist!
The 'villains' of today are rapists and nonces too. You know that, Mick. Probably worse than Ron and Reg.

East Enders took pride in their clobber then (cuff links suites ect)and spoke cockney. London's a poo hole now. I'd rather see R&R strolling around then spend a min in the company of the gangster "yoot" of the present.
A 'bottle of squirt' (ammonia) has been in the gangland armoury since the 60's. It's nothing new.

Terrible.
Funnily enough I ended up watching it last night. I didn't think it was too bad - massively cliched and total bollocks, but still quite enjoyed it. The portrayal of Ron was interesting, Hardy basically played him like he was semi-autistic as well as completely insane.
I didn't like the film as a whole but enjoyed Tom Hardy as Ron, as cartoonish as he was. Hardy is a bit of a national treasure, I think. A very good actor. I heard he didn't really want to play Reg but said something along the lines of "I'll give you Reg if you give me Ron."

Funny that I read a review where they said that Hardy dwarfed the real twins in terms of size and stature when they were both about 5'10" and Hardy is well on record as being 5'9" and roided to the gills for his similar parts. Openly bi too. As much as I like Tom and dislike the twins, they were almost exactly the same size, the twins having the slight advantage in height and a huge advantage in being capably violent, and would have literally torn him a new one. Ex model drama school pretty boy Hardy would have been ideal fresh meat for the gruesome twosome in actual fact.

Would much rather have a pint with Hardy, though.

They're all linked to Broadmoor. It's a very tedious link.

Tedious might be a more appropriate word but I'm assuming you meant tenuous. Myra and Ian used to attend some of Saville's discos and Saville supposedly knew them from then. There's suggestions that he bought photos off them. If Brady was in Broadmoor, it wasn't for long. He's not on the list of famous inmates list on Wikipedia. He was in Ashworth as far as I knew? He certainly wasn't there during the time Jimmy had the keys. Louis Theroux also said that Saville had once said to him "I am the Myra Hindley story" but apparently Saville often came out with weird sh*t like that.

Saville also got pulled in and questioned during the Ripper enquires, and a body was found very close to his house. Of course later he became chummy with Sutcliffe in Broadmoor, as you say.

The most tenuous link of all was the Krays, who were mini-Epsteins in their own creepy way with Ron procuring boys for MP's and the upper classes and Saville supposedly doing the same. There's a load of stuff about it online if you want to go down the rabbit hole. It was during the time I'd heard that about the pizza gate conspiracy and so, bored, had a look into it and got caught up in all sorts of whacky stuff that I had to stop watching as it was genuinely sending me a little wonky. Then of course Epstein happens and you see he's got a weird temple and you do start to wonder... I stay away from all that now.

I called it on a scandal I’d read about online about politician , church etc at a boys home. Everyone thought I was talking crap until it exploded over the press a decade later.

Krays were what they were a couple of nonces ,, But the facts are , just about every cockney you met claimed to be mates with them , Now there dead every cockney claims they were nothing but nonces and there unccle Tommy offered them out for a straightner ,,, But lets not forget the fact maybe the Richardsons could off took them down the alley and give them an hiding , But they were gangsters themselves , anyone else would of been scared to death of them because remember what they went away for , hard cases or not , good boxers or not they were crims who did actually kill people , on top of that anyone in that era who crossed them would have to been thinking are they just gonna stab e , or beat me or shoot me ,, or they gonna take time to bum me first .

They were what they were , but the once who i fid actual knobheads are the likes of Dave Courtney a complete wanker plastic gangster , who claims to have been mates and what would he off been when they were about 4 maybee 5 years old . and people actually buy his books and pay to see the knob

Probably Southern area title standard at best if they had carried on boxing.

Take away all the hype and think: would they have best someone like Dave Charnley who was British champ around that time ? NO
