Clyde turned pro with Angelo Dundee and made his way to Cardiff in 1983 and was robbed of the 10-round decision against reigning British flyweight champion Kelvin Smart. That killed a potential Clyde-Magri rematch because Terry Lawless, who was at ringside, put the block on it but Magri himself never seemed keen on a second go. He turned pro in late 1977 with the Commonwealth Games less than a year away. Clyde represented Canada in those Games and scored a brutal first-round knockout of Ireland's Hugh Russell on his way to the flyweight final, where he was outscored by Kenya's brilliant Mike Irungu.Fray Bentos wrote: ↑05 Aug 2021, 05:53 Ian Clyde fought for the world title himself, getting KO'd inside 10 rounds for the IBF flyweight title. I always thought Scottie Olson should have fought for a legit world title - he was a good fighter who was always on Eurosport!

I thought Yafai won that and what a bout it was. The geezer on here saying he hopes he gets battered in the final because he thought he was lucky to get the nod, give your head a wobble

It was very close. I thought he lost that last round but he’s put himself in the final. Plus who the fck is Reggie Woodhall? Get it sorted BBCsmiling assassin wrote: ↑05 Aug 2021, 10:08 I thought Yafai won that and what a bout it was. Re: Pat McCormack Olympics
He's definately pro the Brits - I think there is only been one fight involving in a Brit where he seemed to be scoring the fight for the Brit.
So far - I've agreed with all the judges call - some close ones but none controversial IMO.

Also, the Chinese confidently won the ROC fighter, who had been among the favorites of the tourney. She is a huge favorite for the finale indeed.margaret thatcher wrote: ↑06 Aug 2021, 02:30 the worlds shortest smw lauren price wins split over duutch girl to make the final

Hmm. Price is the world champ, European champ and beat the Dutch lady in the semi who she also faced in the worlds final.DrDuke wrote: ↑06 Aug 2021, 02:48Also, the Chinese confidently won the ROC fighter, who had been among the favorites of the tourney. The Chinese lady looked good but I don’t write off Price’s chances and, if anything, I think she’s favourite to win.
Re: Pat McCormack Olympics
Been some top top contests this year - such a shame the BBC coverage has been pretty dire compared to 2016 and 2012.
The Heavyweight final was a great one on paper and what about Keyshawn Davis vs Cruz. Davis has (according to boxrec) an 80-12 amateur record and off course has fought has a pro and was looking good..... Cruz (according to boxrec) is 111-8!
And yet Eddie Hearn is championing Ebaine Bridges as the fight to look out for this weekend.

Re: Pat McCormack Olympics
This great tourney is almost finished, which is even a bit sad, so let's remember and rewatch the 2012 Olympics, when Yoka wasn't grown up yet and was only 6'5, and when Joshua was awarded a hometown dec over Savon and then again over Cammarelle:

She was a world champ in 2018. She didn’t fight in the last world champs I don’t think.margaret thatcher wrote: ↑06 Aug 2021, 13:20 the chinese is world champ (also beating the dutch woman in the final lol....poor dutch woman cant get a break) and asian champ, so the 2 best indeed.....boxrec #1 vs #2![]()

I’m not disputing that she’s good. I just don’t think the Chinese lady is a ‘huge favourite’.

Re: Pat McCormack Olympics
Cool vid. WTF going on with Dychko now? He was only 21 then though already balding. Get on with it.. He's boxing Nick Webb's best victory, Erik 'sauerkraut chin' Pfeiffer. Some thought Dychko beat Joshua and although I agree it was close, AJ edged it I thought. But Joshua definitely lost to Savon and Camarelle.
Re: Pat McCormack Olympics
Yeah, Dychko vs Joshua was close, but here it's tough to argue on a dec, while bouts vs Savon and Camarelle were clear robberies.JamesPhilips wrote: ↑06 Aug 2021, 16:15 Cool vid. Dychko is wasting his pro years though. Look, how talent can be wasted with a bad team.
And how it can be upgraded with a good one, by the Joshua example. Eddeh was given Joshua a lot of dividends in advance, a fast track to the top, biased judging, etc. Although Joshua is constantly showing progress.
Re: Pat McCormack Olympics
Yafai jumped on the Phi guy like on the Kazakh one, hurt him in the 1st, but slowed down in the next rounds. Although the Phi guy didn't seize it like the Kazakh. The Gold goes in Britain.

Re: Pat McCormack Olympics
which is getting up there especially at that weight.......seems like this batch of olympians is rather old
Re: Pat McCormack Olympics
He could be moved quickly.
Let's say he has 3 years of peak.
That's enough to have a title shot.
He does have a bit of power, that can keep him in the game longer.

Re: Pat McCormack Olympics
he looked good and does have a pro style , but i wouldnt bet on him for a big pro career
at his weight he'll be absolutely ancient turning pro at that age, and he was nearly 29 year old fighting 20 year olds, 22 year olds, etc
