Very disappointed and that may be why I’m reacting badly but I truly hope that this is legit. The juice to Spences' legacy is Crawford. As been for years, car accidents considered, it still should have happened and Manny would have been the payday and icing on the cake. Yes its a shame, and a relief.
Beardie, imagine if Spence vegetabled Manny, it would be as hard to live down as losing to him.

Re: Manny Pacquiao vs. Yordenis Ugas - August 21, 2021
In terms of a competition this is probably better than the fight against Spence. The least would give a huge opportunity for a lagacy, which wouldn't be fulfilled. Here it's actually tough to pick a winner.

Re: Manny Pacquiao vs. Yordenis Ugas - August 21, 2021
you saw ugas beat porter getting robbed.
of course pac could beat him. could easily go the other way too though.
even playfield. that's all any fighter plus every real boxing fan ever asks for.
we rarely get it, especially in 'big' fights. it's sad.
i doubt ugas can get a decision vs manny.

Re: Manny Pacquiao vs. Yordenis Ugas - August 21, 2021
Ugas is a seriously risky banana skin for Pacquiao.
Yordenis has got a completely different fighting style than the fighter Manny was originally preparing to face. It will be very hard to adapt at this late stage of training camp.
Ugas’ loss in the Porter fight was very controversial. Yordenis managed to do something in that bout, which most fighters couldn’t, by having the physicality to force Shawn to compete on the back foot.
Yordenis Ugas is a top-five welterweight and he’s definitely capable of scoring the upset.
The one thing I will say though, is that his work is often underappreciated by the judges.
I’ve seen him win fights he completely dominated, but was only deemed the victor by split decision.
I have also seen him lose fights that could have gone either way, with the scorecards wrongly suggesting he was absolutely dominated.
The one thing I will say though, if the Filipino hasn’t significantly declined since the Thurman bout, then I feel the Pacquiao-Ugas fight will almost certainly go to a decision.
Yordenis Ugas has only scored one legitimate KO stoppage within the last five years.
And from memory, I think Pacquiao has only stopped one opponent by KO within the last twelve years.
Prediction time (based on the assumption Manny hasn’t declined much since he fought Thurman): Pacquaio defeats Ugas by a controversial and an excessively wide margin on the judges scorecards, with the official scoring failing to reflect the true competitiveness of the bout.

I don't think he'd give up a fight like this if not legit. Glad it wasn't the "Covid card". I am pissed too, and one of the few ppvs I would have bought. Ugas is good, so he may surprise us and beat Manny. I thought he edged Porter.caldo2025 wrote: ↑11 Aug 2021, 00:04Very disappointed and that may be why I’m reacting badly but I truly hope that this is legit. I would bet they could double their PPV buys if they dropped it to $50 instead of $80. Just a guess, but hope they consider it.

But that would make it even worse. Ugas, if he’s been remaining active which is probably the case seeing that he’s able to commit to the weight on such short notice, has a nice little advantage heading into this one. I’d hate to see Manny now lose the fight that he hasn’t even been planning for. Manny’s balls are gigantic for even taking on Spence and I don’t think that a win vs Ugas is rewarding enough. Manny at 42 can’t take Spence on a year from now and be as competitive. Just a very sad freaking situation.Bandog wrote: ↑11 Aug 2021, 08:43I don't think he'd give up a fight like this if not legit. It’s all about the revenue though isn’t it.
Let’s say for argument sake, the fight does 300k buys. At $80 it’s £24m Revenue.
They lower it to $45 a pop, might do an extra what? 200k buys? At 500k buys it does $22.5m..

Most of us are pissed about the situation. Few of us are dumbass enough to label a professional athlete on the level of Spence a pussy.
Congratulations!
