Yeah I did see that fight. Good point! I would. Imagine They'll only take a risk with Benn when it's for big money. Just a shame as I'd love to see him in with someone like Essowman, Ava or Josesito Lopez.KiwiRider wrote: ↑14 Dec 2021, 04:36Did you see the first Paynard fight?black panther wrote: ↑14 Dec 2021, 03:57
Yes exactly mate. You always have to question a prospect when the management avoid anyone remotely dangerous.
Do they know something - that maybe Benn can't take a punch?
His old man faced plenty dangerous fighters on the way up. Even Hatton who was relatively protected fought some punchers before Tszyu.
For me what it comes down to is do Benn and his team see Conor as merely a cash cow or a fighter with genuine World title aspirations. If its the former, they'll continue to talk about tough fights whilst avoiding them and build his hype by knocking over non punching never was or has beens.
But if its the latter they'll need to put him in with someone who presents some danger to develop him as a fighter in a multitude of ways. Nothing like facing a puncher to sharpen and test your defence and also your ability to get through moments of crisis when hurt.
Seems so long ago now, and Benn is a lot better, but that was the only time I've seen him in real trouble.
So really I think it is just a bit of extra caution being exercised. So much unnecessary emphasis is on being unbeaten now, I'm not blaming his team for taking it slow. It isn't like he has a deep amateur career or anything.
I'm not a fan, he rubs me up the wrong way, and his celebration while Algieri still hadn't got up last weekend solidified my distaste for the guy![]()

Avanesyan would be a great fight to make but in reality the risk/reward may not be worth it. It’s a fight I think Benn wins though now.
Lopez would be a fine opponent too and it wouldn’t surprise me if he’s next assuming that Broner wants a fight before he fights Benn.

He's doing a UK tour like Tyson just has. Anybody caught buying tickets from here deserves a lifetime ban.

Benn saying Hearn looking to make Broner.
What has Broner ever done at 147?
Why can't we have Congo, Kelly or Avaneysan?

congo is a better option than broner? hes beaten 1 opponent who has a winning record and lost his last fight, forcefraser wrote: ↑17 Dec 2021, 10:07 Benn saying Hearn looking to make Broner.

Taking on Kelly who nobody knows and got knocked out for a domestic belt, or Broner who has been a 4 time world champ at different weights and is very well known, who would I go for.......margaret thatcher wrote: ↑17 Dec 2021, 12:22congo is a better option than broner? hes beaten 1 opponent who has a winning record and lost his last fight, forcefraser wrote: ↑17 Dec 2021, 10:07 Benn saying Hearn looking to make Broner.

Fighting McKinson would give a good ranking with the WBO
I'd love to see what Michael McKinson can do, he has delt with everyone they have put in front of him.

Re: who do you want next for conny?
You might get to see him against a different prospect mate - on another forum a poster who is generally in the know has said that McKinson might get a WBO eliminator against Ortiz Jnr!
Re: who do you want next for conny?
Oh! That would be sweet. I've only seen McKinson twice-but he is actually better than Benn to my eye. They have been on different paths.
Benn has been pasting guys on the tail end of their careers, and McKinson has been doing the business with guys on the up.
To me fighting guys on the up is a lot harder. Especially the unbeaten ones.

Thats a good fight to just see how it goes. Mckinson is slick, Ortiz is a beast. Personaly dont think its possible to be slick enough with no power to compeat with those top guys. but id like to see it.
Pretty incredible Mckinson has never stopped anyone with a headshot. One body shot TKO, one Injury TKO.

Josh Kelly would have been interesting , talking about passing in the night , David Avanesyan would be a great fight ,
Re: who do you want next for conny?
Conor Benn is one of the best prospects in world boxing for me but I’m not wanking myself over him yet because of his level of opposition. Name value, smaller and retired boxers should not come before genuine value fights.
I actually think he can beat Avanysen but it looks like we will never know. All Hearn now needs is a WBU belt for Benn and wait for Crawford to turn 39 and he will have a very meaningful fight.
Hearn treating British boxing fans like spazzes; no wonder most of his shows don’t sell here. It won’t be long before the DAZN honchos begin asking questions of him.
