Would you be happy with Fury/Charr?
no worse than any of the other tomato cans fury has had
1 fight in 4 years for Charr. It’s amazing that Bob’s even mentioned him as a possibility.

Normally promoters mention a few fighters and it’s usually the worst fighter in the list that gets the fight. Perhaps Bob has thrown Charr into the mix so people are happy if he faces Helenius. Who knows.

Tyson Fury v Dillian Whyte is unlikely to happen in March with the purse bids now set for Friday, according to Eddie Hearn.

Mandatory challenger Whyte has been unable to agree to terms with Fury after the WBC ordered an 80/20 purse split in favour of the reigning champion.

Speaking to the 5 Live Boxing podcast, Hearn said: "People keep talking about March dates - that's starting to look unrealistic for a fight of this magnitude."

Fury's co-promoter allegedly told BBC Sport last week that the targeted date was 26 March, but Hearn says April is far more likely.

"Either March, April, early May potentially," added Hearn. "This is the window for the fight. Depends what happens this week.

"There are so many conversations going on behind the scenes right now. Something could turn at any moment."

Whyte, 33, is currently in a dispute with the sanctioning body WBC after their purse-split announcement and also the time it took for the British heavyweight to receive his shot at the world title.

Hearn, who works with Whyte, says despite the disagreements between the two camps and the WBC, the fight will still go ahead.

"You're talking about a lot of money - a difference of 25%," Hearn said about the issue.

"The normal split for any mandatory challenger is a lot more than 80/20. The normal split for an interim champion is up to 45%. We feel in terms of the commercial value of Dillian Whyte and the time he's had to wait, 80/20 is quite ridiculous really."

He added: "[It] looks like Dillian Whyte will definitely get his shot at the WBC title, but we have to fight for his rights and make sure it's fair. It's not going to stand in the way of the fight."
Reading that, there is no way Fury fights Whyte. I’d take bets on it.

Surely Hearn won't get a penny if he loses the bid. He's not his manager.

Let it just go to purse bids and if it’s not enough for Whyte then he should be thrown out of the rankings and Tyson should move on.

No - not contractually at least - but he clearly works closely with Whyte and has told him the minimum he’ll be getting from his bid and Dillian may be thinking he’d rather that than accept Top Rank’s offer.

I don't think they want to risk boxing on another channel, which is a bit odd because Hearn isn't great in purse bids. Whyte is a very easy fight for Fury, to suggest he's bothered about him is mental.

Whyte will hurt Fury if they meet .
He may not win the fight especillly over 12 - but Fury will get dropped just like he did V Wilder and maybe this time doesnt beat the count .

Eddie is probably just as baffled by Whyte’s demands as Team Fury at this point. If it’s not done by Thursday, stick a fork in this fight. It won’t go to bids

I think it’s a bit mental that he’s potentially willing to drop the belt and fight Charr rather than risking boxing on another channel.

He could make his biggest/second biggest purse for this. He could help a lot of charities with it too.

Jesus H. Christ. This is all so fornicating tiresome.

This time last year it was the Fury-AJ saga - now this.

To add to this, the Usyk-Joshua rematch still isn't finalised, despite the first fight taking place months ago, with a built in rematch clause.

We'll be lucky to see any of these fighting in the first 6 months of the year.

I'm really thankful that I discovered MMA a few years ago, at least I can watch the best fight the best in the UFC on a regular basis.

They ain’t happy with 80-20. They ain’t happy with 5mil guarantee. They don’t really want the fight that’s there to be had. Fury’s never been a huge money fight. He might be the top man but the moneys always been with AJ.

Fury is the kind of guy who wants C grade fights while waiting for the big ones, he’s waiting on Usyk or AJ. That’s where the money is.

Has Whyte actually received a legit promise for £5 million for the fight, or is like one of those Fury promises to give his $3 or $7 million fight purse to charity?

Believe it or not, Eddie is actually operating under a budget. Matchroom/ Barry Hearn are also accountants by trade- the idea that they are just going to throw cash at it for the sake of it is not realistic IMO. It’s not monopoly or Saudi oil money he has on tap.

AJ v Usyk 2 is supposedly soon, that needs paying for. Canelo is scheduled for May - Eddie will need money to try to get him back on on DAZN.

Neither side can afford this going to bids. Arum & Bricktop wanted to protect themselves financially by offering the guarantee- that goes out the window in a bid. Eddie/DAZN would have to fork out 40-50m minimum in order to stand any chance, which is bonkers.

Do you know what the fight might be expected to gross ?
Or does anyone else ?

Surely 5m guaranteed is better for The BodySnatcher ? Even £3m is set for a comfortable life - he’s gotta sign the ting !

It’s hard to say how much it’d gross. DAZN may be willing to make a loss on it for the broadcast to get DAZN more well known and launch their PPV model. Eddie may also look to put it on in Saudi so could get a big rights fee.

If it was on Sky PPV I could see a million buys at £25 so £20.8m. Then you’ve got TV in the US and rights fees for the rest of the world, then advertising income and either a decent sized gate in the U.K. or a chunky rights fee. Obviously none of that takes into account other costs but there’s potential for the fight to gross £50m if the Saudis want it.

Eddie will know what he’s bidding and so will Dillian. Based on Dillian turning down $5m/£5m (not sure which) he must be confident that 20% of Eddie’s offer is bigger than that.

He’s already got a comfortable life. I think Mickey said he made £3m or so in one of his recent Sky PPV fights.

It’s bonkers but not unrealistic based on the money that could be generated. DAZN will see this as a marketing campaign for the U.K. as they haven’t really got it outside of the hardcores. You’re right in that they don’t have Saudi oil money on tap but the Saudis are back spending money to bring shows that will generate publicity. They’ve paid $100m for 2 WWE shows and have reportedly shown an interest in Haney/Kambosos. It’s not beyond the realm of possibility for them to put down $20m for this.
