Re: Conor Benn vs. Guerrero / Hooker - April 2022
hooker aint won since 2019, wont have fought in over a year and was butchered in that fight, and is a career 140 pounder who accomplished nothing at 147. all the usual signs of a guy being brought in as a loser.
he wasnt all that good at 140 anyway, had 3 low level draws before upsetting flan on close decision, then life and death in his other notable win over saucedo. stopped in just 6 by ramiriez, who didnt come close to stopping postol, zepeda, or taylor
dudes who think he's much of a threat, that molina was good for babic, etc....really need to look at context

Re: Conor Benn vs. Guerrero / Hooker - April 2022
true but he is a natural scrapper mo long arms he fires bangers when in trouble and they very good that beat him , benn aint there yet for me, but he could as he has stepped up every fight the level benn is now is better than flannagan i think much rather see him fight mo deffo can win dont think he would batter him , i reckon benn would start well hurt mo, then mo just starts throwing on instinct and kos himmargaret thatcher wrote: ↑28 Jan 2022, 18:17 hooker aint won since 2019, wont have fought in over a year and was butchered in that fight, and is a career 140 pounder who accomplished nothing at 147. he wasnt all that good at 140 anyway, had 3 draws before upsetting flan on close decision, then life and death in his other notable win over saucedo. all the usual signs are there

They moved very quick to about that, opened, realised they fucked it, and shifted fast (most bookies probably started taking bets a bit later and so never had a period of even because hey learned from others mistakes).
but you have to remember befor that fight connor had beat noone and was going to points with some bad boxers, formela had beat significantly better guys than connor had, and he had just gone 12 with porter. That was really the springboard fight for connor to be considered legit, before then he was just Nigel son.

World Boxing Council confirm 15 boxers for Clean Boxing Program
Click on the above link for the list.
Of the five fighters warned about their failure to enroll, Chris Billam Smith, Mauricio Lara, and Conor Benn remain missing from protocol completion.
Mario Barrios and Lee McGregor submitted their forms in time to get them noted.
The WBC said: “Complying with the protocols of the Clean Boxing Program and in other cases voluntarily, our ranked boxers complied one hundred percent with their CBP registration form.
“They are an example for all. The registration shows concern regarding the well-being and respect of our beloved sport.
“The WBC should note that Mario Barrios and Lee McGregor dropped out of the WBC rankings since until that moment we had not received their registration.
“However, they have now met this requirement. Both fighters will have the opportunity to be considered by the rating committee and return to the rankings.”

Can't be an oversight that Benn hasn't enrolled can it?
He has an experienced team around him.

Re: Conor Benn vs. Guerrero / Hooker - April 2022
Benn on Not Getting 'Hard Fights': 'We're Not Conning The Public'
Don’t expect to see Conor Benn against the top talents of the welterweight division anytime soon.
The hard-hitting British welterweight and son of famed boxer Nigel Benn recently offered an in-depth explanation why intriguing fights that people have been on his case about – for example, against Vergil Ortiz, Jaron Ennis, and Errol Spence Jr. – won’t happen until Benn feels that he has hit his absolute prime.
As Benn explains it, he believes he has the tools to fight – and win against such fighters at the present moment. But given the way he has been improving, Benn, following a philosophy of saving the best for last, suggests that these high-profile match-ups are better preserved for the future.
“It’s got nothing to do with whether I’m ready or not,” Benn told Boxing Social. “For as long as I’m progressing the way I’m progressing, why are they going to throw me in when I haven’t even reached my full potential yet? I haven’t got to. So why am I going to? It’s not that the hard fights don’t come.”
Benn, who is promoted by Eddie Hearn of Matchroom Boxing, has full trust that his handlers will steer him the right way. So far, he believes that they have. Benn, 25, showed his class last year with dominant wins over Samuel Vargas (31-7-2, 14 KOs), Adrian Granados (21-9-3, 15 KOs), and Chris Algieri (25-4, 9 KOs). Hearn recently announced Benn’s next bout could be against former 140-pound titleholder Maurice Hooker (27-2-3, 18 KOs) of Dallas, Texas. Robert Guerrero (37-6-1, 20 KOs) and Adrien Broner (34-4-1, 24 KOs) have been other names that have been thrown around by Hearn as potential opponents for Benn.
“I can see what my team are doing,” Benn said. “Look at how I progressed from the [Sebastian] Formella fight [in 2020] to the Algieri. The Granados to the Algieri. The Vargas to the Algieri. So, while we're progressing that quick, if the growth is that quick, why not wait until you know I’m there? The likes of Vergil Ortiz, the Jaron Ennises…the creme de la creme, the Errol Spences, the [Yordenis] Ugas – I’ll fight Ugas now – I get it. And the public should get.
“Allow your fighters to have as many fights as they can. We’re not conning the public. We’re not, you know, fooling the people for this or that. I’m gonna wait until I reach my full potential.
“For as long as I’m still growing, as long as I’m still going, I ain’t in no hurry. At all. Why? What is the hurry? Will I fight Vergil Ortiz? One million percent I will. Will I fight Jaron Ennis? One million percent I will. Errol Spence, Ugas, Thurman? One million percent – when the timing is right for me.”
Of course, there are political stumbling blocks to consider as well. All the fighters that Benn named are aligned with different promotional entities, and they rarely work together on a consistent basis.
Benn is hopeful the fights will happen – just not now, but later, one he has reached his peak as a fighter.
“I pride myself,” Benn said. “I work extremely hard, so when the fight is ready to be made, the fights will get made. It’s not a matter of I’m not ready now, but why make the Vergil Ortiz fight, a 10 times harder fight, an easier fight for him now, so to speak, or an easier fight for me, while I’m still learning?
“I’ll wait until I [reach the peak of my abilities]. You’ll know. You’ll see. You see the progress. The proof is in the pudding. Every time I step out there, I put on a clinical performance, better than the last.”

There’s logic in what he says I suppose. He isn’t ready for the top fighters yet. So wait til they’re on the slide then fight them….
Re: Conor Benn vs. Guerrero / Hooker - April 2022
Exactly that, wont fight the top boys at the time he feels 'ready' but they bring over the ones at the top now once theyre past itShadrachSimmo wrote: ↑08 Feb 2022, 13:31 There’s logic in what he says I suppose. He’s nearly 26 if I’m correct. He should be in his absolute prime.
They are conning the public with longing his career out.

He started at 19 years old in 2016 I think it was.. Fair enough, he hasn't had any amateur career, but he's been in the pro game long enough now..

Ricky Hatton was a top amateur and it took him 8 years to fight Tszyu for the world title.Ruthless-RKO wrote: ↑08 Feb 2022, 13:55He started at 19 years old in 2016 I think it was.. Fair enough, he hasn't had any amateur career, but he's been in the pro game long enough now..
Conor’s been moved fine for me. He had extremely limited amateur experience and has come on bundles in the last few years. If he fights Hooker next then that’s a decent fight too.
Would I prefer him fighting Avanesyan? Yes but it’s not like he’s fighting poor opposition.

Re: Conor Benn vs. Guerrero / Hooker - April 2022
Connor was shit 3 years ago. If your shit at 22, then 26 (he is 25 by the way) is not your prime.
id say for a welter absolute prime is generally 30, but thats not even taking into acount that connor was shit at 22. he is in no rush, just needs to stay active.
Re: Conor Benn vs. Guerrero / Hooker - April 2022
Nott fighting the elite is not the problem , you could well argue he,s not ready ,good enough at the moment , the problem is he,s not fighting anyone swho can hit back or even comes to win , So they promise a tasty ham and cheese toasty and serve you up dog shit on stale bread
Re: Conor Benn vs. Guerrero / Hooker - April 2022
Prime isn’t a singular specific year. If he had been beat against Peraud and progressed thereafter he’d be pushed along at a more normal pace.gregregegg wrote: ↑08 Feb 2022, 19:30Connor was shit 3 years ago. If your shit at 22, then 26 (he is 25 by the way) is not your prime.

He’s currently everything that’s wrong with boxing; not fighting rivals, he’s “building and building” constantly, obviously protecting that 0 to a ridiculous standard, talking huge amounts and fighting stalker guys who are pretty much retired.
Ffs, get him in with Crawford, Ortiz, Spence, Ugas, ect.
A defeat shouldn’t define you and shouldn’t fear one; they can actually help in huge ways.
