Not saying throw them around like confetti, but it would be a big help.
A lot of fights are 6-0 at halfway when almost nothing has happened. Frampton vs Quigg was like that. About half of all round ones are dull and neither deserves a lead.
Yes you don't see many drawn rounds, I think many feel like they should pick a winner, that's where bias can come into play.
The only 10-10's you ever see on official scorecards is round 1..

After that, they more or less pick a winner don't they.

I don’t mind that - you should try to pick a winner, but just accept that some rounds are crap and nobody wins them and - very rarely - really good and nobody deserves to lose.

Same with 10-8s - they’re almost been given without KDs. Don’t give em lightly, just mentally set the bar a bit lower. Don’t need a KD or Rocky script - just give 10-8 for any clearly dominant/painful/oiutclassed/whatever rounds. It doesn’t have to be Gatti vs Ward round 9 to get a 10-8 !

That would give a better read on who won the fight overall.

I agree on more 10-10 rounds. There are so many where neither man does much, and occasionally ones where there is equal back and forth but nothing outstanding for either person. And I hate the method when it is a title fight that if it so close it just gets given to the champion :brick: That's a load of shite.

Terry O'Connor turning in another fckong disgraceful scorecard, although I had Cartwright winning that pretty comfortable as far as scores were concerned it's clear most people had Williamson winning, nearly everyone on here had Williamson winning but twitter was more divided, either way for Fat Tel to only give Cartwright 2 rounds is a holocaust of a card, I hadn't seen him in a while and was hoping he'd done the honourable thing and fvcked off from ruin boxers careers

We can start a list of Terry O'Connors career highlights....

1. Robbed John Mcdermot a win over Fury...
2. Carried Nathan Cleverley back to his corner to avoid being stopped

...carry on :OhYes:

Funny that. Tel ain't seen for a while and as soon IJL has been slapped on the wrist, Big Ol Tel pops out a few weeks later.

Need open scoring in running, I think it's crazy fighting and having no idea if your winning or losing. Like think about it.

Un-biased volunteers judging from a back room would do wonders.

Na, can you imagine how negative people would get with open judging.... last 2 rounds would end up being one guy running away another madly chasing half the time.

How can judging be improved?

Abolish Boxing. Let it not exist for 5 to 10 years, and start it over again from scratch with a brand new set of rules and regulations and anybody that used to run it isn't allowed to run it anymore, and everybody that IS running has to answer to some sorta unbiased Governing Body who will actually serve up consequences for bad judging or bad officiating.

None of that is going to happen.

So, basically.

Bad judging. How do you avoid it?

Knock your opponent out.

That's it.

A lot of fights are 6-0 at halfway when almost nothing has happened. Frampton vs Quigg was like that. About half of all round ones are dull and neither deserves a lead.
The problem then, is that a 10-8 round scored for a clear round, would likely lead to a 10-7 for a reasonably close round with a knockdown. That would mean that there'd massive swings in scores.

I don't see a real problem with the scoring of rounds in terms of their numerical value, more the application of it.

How are judges selected?

There should certainly be more disciplinaries. Quite how IJL is allowed to carry on judging is beyond me.
If that guy was a train driver, making as many 'mistakes' as he does, there'd be bodies littering the line from Newcastle to Newquay.
I like the idea of majority - I think. Something along the lines of 3/4 judges have to agree on a round or it's scored even. (Someone explained the idea once, it made some sense, but I'm hazy on the details).
Also being away from the crowd. Technology has moved on now so cameras give you a better view than ringside.

The BBBofC need to get a handle on this, though. We are worse at judging and reffing than the stereotypical German or Italian

I've been saying it on here for years, we have some horrendous officials here that repeatedly put in baffling displays as referees and judges but O Connor is always the one I see as the gold standard. I have him below everyone.
