van heerden was lucky that cut happened, was taking an absolute hiding just a minute in and already hurt multiple times

i agree, ennis is so good that you cant really hold it against van heerden assessing him at this level, but on the other hand, that 2 minute battering is the only fight time he's had since august 2019

I havent really seen much heerden but i dont mind Benn getting a semi decent southpaw sorted now rather than getting to world levle and having no southpaw experience..

But if benn stops him in under 6 rounds he should fight again in july. Cant just fight a couple of rounds twice a year...
I agree about not being on Ennis' level, there may only be two guys who are, maybe none. But the face Van Heerden offers nothing after throwing a few ineffectual punches is perfect for Benn. Twenty fights for the destroyer, and this is where they trust him to be at.

I think he is being ducked, if you go by his trainer, Boots is the best thing since sliced bread.

Think people are being overly harsh on this opponent because of how much benn runs his mouth. and thats fair enough i guess he does run his mouth.

Betting currently has it 1/10 on connor or 5/1 on Heerden, actualy opened a bit closer even.

Thats same odds as okolies last fight, same as Ortiz vs Mckinson, simular to GGG vs murata, closer than ryan garcias fight, simular to fury vs dillian whyte.

sheeyat, i guess we cant say a word about it since benn is only 10-1 favourite and other fighters also do mismatches :oo

i never listen to benn interviews and i rate him. not a hater or anything like that at all. me and stoney said before anyone here that he'd be a world champ, and you can check old posts and im actually hyping formella up lol. then start getting a bit fed up when being sold sh!t like benn vs human punch bag sam vargas.

now im just tired of the same type of opponent over and over. light hitters who aren't going to put him under pressure. those other guys you mentioned have also all fought someone much more dangerous than anyone benn's fought. if they hadn't, they'd get more criticisms too

you can get ggg at 1/6 vs murata btw

There must be something about Benn that I don't see, and his team do. Because I would think he is up for a lot better opponent that this guy, and Algeri. No offence to either.

Benn’s an accident waiting to happen at elite level. Looks good when he’s on top and doesn’t need to worry about what’s coming back at him, but I’m not sure he’ll be very clever when he’s in with a live opponent.
Still loads of very ordinary fighters win world titles these days and it’s not beyond him to do that. He just needs to keep being matched with extreme care and wait until the right fight can be bought for him.

I really rate Benn as a boxer. It’s amazing how he looks considering how poor he was early doors and how limited his amateur stint was.

I’m not a fan of this fight and this has to be the last one of its kind. For what it’s worth I think he beats Avanesyan. I can’t see that fight happening but he needs to fight someone this isn’t half way through their downslope on their career trajectory.

Agree with Maverick here. I think Benn's a genuine talent, I enjoy watching him. He's come on a long way from his early fights where he was getting Campbell Hatton-like reviews on here.

I don't tend to watch fighter interviews, so don't really care if he comes across as a bit of a whopper. Loads of other British fighters do, it doesn't make me dislike them.

That said, I'm really disappointed with Van Heerden as an opponent at this time. I genuinely thought it was a name Hearn was throwing about so that the actual opponent would sound better when announced.

This type of fight should be 2-3 contests in the past. He needs a test, against someone with the capacity and the desire to win. I doubt CVH will display either.

With the talent in this division, there won't be any belts to be won and defended easily in the near future.

I didn't even know Van Heerden was still boxing. He's been around for years, and achieved nothing.

How much Yu reckon Hearn’s paying these recent guys to add a Benn loss to their records.

It's actually a decent fight. Geeze vargases pressure is good at this level without too much heat coming back.

Runoski the cleaner work but can't punch, and Mabey winning more rounds but I think Vargas is winning the "fight".

Vargas has many more fights as a gatekeeper left in him, so you can see him again and again in with the next generation of prospects...

doesnt surprise me it was a decent fight. match guys like this vs each other, and good things can happen. it's when they repeatedly come in as punching bags to much better opponents that i cant stand it

No recent wins of note - check

I'd be happy with Benn vs the Engine at this point rather than these "learning fights".

It’s obvious he’s a talent and it’s obvious why he’s being kept back.
A loss these days can prove pivotal in careers (it’s sad that’s the case).
Eddie will need him when Joshua gets beaten again in 2022 which is highly likely.
PPV baby.
Shame the Yanks don’t know him.

I’m going to this. Don’t really want to but I’m up north on the Friday for Doncaster v Bolton so might as well go to this.
My wife wants to fornicate Conor and wants to watch him every time.
It’s her birthday 4 days later so that’s her gift.
