Eubank has had 34 fights and the ratio of meaningless ones to meaningful ones is incredible. By far and away I think the boxer who has the most pointless fights.

Amazes me he sits there with no irony calling out a guy who weighed in at 149lbs for his last fight.

I missed that.
I just can’t believe Ingle, Kell’s dad and Kell himself thinks he can go from a 3mil purse against Khan who pretty much everyone knows to asking for over x3 times that to fight Benn… who isn’t that popular.
Look at Ticketmaster for his fight with van Heerden. You can buy a shedloads of seats in every price bracket if you wanted.
Top tier gonna be closed, too.

I might be wrong but Kell must be a spastic to ask for 10mil. That fight wouldn’t generate that gross in total.

It may just be a start point in negotiations but it’s so out there that there’s no point going back with a counter as it’s so unrealistic.

Boxxer CEO Ben Shalom says a potential fight between Kell Brook and Chris Eubank Jr can happen if they get a compromise over the weight limit.

I don’t like the way Ben Shalom is angling for this fight.

Eubank is a bad matchup for Kell. Too big and solid.

I’m surprised Kell isn’t entertaining the Benn fight. Dom Ingle always seems keen on that fight too. But I saw Kell saying that Shalom was his promoter at the Riakphore show and so a DAZN hookup doesn’t seem likely.

Ben 'box office' Shalom did basically say that the only thing to be agreed on was the weight, the rest would fall into place pretty quickly.

MY proposal for splits is:

70-30 to eubank @ 155lb

60-40 to Eubank at 156lb

50-50 @ 157lb

60-40 to kell @ 158lb

70-30 to kell @159lb....

Start at the 50-50, whoever refuses give em an extra lb and steal 10 %

Brook-Eubank Weight 'Finalized' Says Promoter Sauerland, Sides Still Negotiating Splits

One hurdle standing in the way of an intriguing non-title bout between British countrymen Kell Brook and Chris Eubank Jr. has apparently been cleared.

Kalle Sauerland, the handler of middleweight contender Eubank, said the matter of which weight the two would potentially fight at had been “finalized.”

“The weight has, we have – as I understand it, there are middlemen that are acting here as well,” Sauerland told IFL TV. “I understand that the weight issue was finalized last week.

“Of course, the weight’s important. It has to be fair to both. I think there’s a solution for that now. Of course, it’s about professional boxing.”

The seemingly rejuvenated Brook (40-3, 28 KOs), a career welterweight, has been fielding offers from challengers eager to face him after his dominant sixth-round stoppage over bitter rival Amir Khan in their welterweight contest, which was held at a contracted 149 pounds, last February. Eubank (32-2, 23 KOs) has been among the most vocal in calling for a Brook fight, but he has also made it clear that he would not fight at 155 pounds, the weight Brook has singled out as the highest he would go.

Eubank’s contention is that while Brook fights at a smaller weight, the Sheffield native would be the bigger fighter on fight night because of his propensity to blow up in weight.

“The guy walks around at 180-pounds,” Eubank told TalkSport recently. “He walks around heavier than I do. He fought Gennady Golovkin at 160 and got into the ring at 168 on the night. When I fight at 160, the maximum I put on is five pounds. He will be bigger than me on the night if we fight at 160. People are talking about me coming down to 155, that’s just not going to happen.”

While the weight issue may no longer be an obstacle, the fight seems far from a sure thing, as Sauerland, whose company was acquired by the global talent agency Wasserman last year, seemed to indicate that there is still a considerable way to go on the money front in reaching an agreement.

“It’s about splits, it’s about money,” Sauerland said of the issues that remain on the table. “[The fight] really depends on – we have reasonable demands for what I believe is market value.

“It’s now down to the sides to find a common agreement. I think it’s a very big fight, it’s a blockbuster. Do they really want it? We’ll see.”

It should help that Brook and Eubank share the same promotional affiliations. Brook’s last fight with Khan was promoted by Sky Sports house promoter Boxxer, the same outfit that has a multi-fight deal with Eubank, who is backed by Wasserman.

I don’t like this fight.

Whatever Eubank says about the weight, this is him picking on a smaller target.

He needs to have a proper fight and leave Kell to bask in his well earned glory.

Agreed. I know everyone’s out to make as much money as possible but it seems as though Ben’s happy to throw Kell into a dangerous situation with little regard for anything except the money the fight would generate.

Even by promoter standards this is unscrupulous behaviour

Connor Benn could clearly get the fight if he wants it. Would just have to go to 154...

@ 154lb , Sky PPV, 70-30 in brooks favour split. i think we would have a fight. But benn would rather try kill brook at 147...

I reckon Brook is looking for the cash, who can blame him, If the money is right I bet he will give weight away to Eubank.

Don't like this fight i think Eubank is just too big ,, however all the talk in the world can go on about Benn - Brook , its just never going to happen , Brooks to big a star to be dictated too by the likes of Benn regards weight , and unless Brook strips right down and chops the oother leg off Benns just piss and wind , he wants the publicity not the fight

Eubank's obviously bigger but Brook is certainly at least a natural 154lber right now. And hasn't Brook being competing at a significantly higher level? Brook's only come undone against P4P world champions where as Eubank Jr came undone against fringe contenders with all due respect to them. I'd give Brook the edge in terms of skill, jab, workrate and stamina.

What's he talking about? Eubank is taller and he's weighed between 158-168 so far. Brook has weighed between 137-159 and even the 159 was a one off and 153 was the highest prior to that.

He's talking about in-between fights isn't he? Difference being, Brook cuts a lot of weight.

But lots of fighters walk around at heavier weights. Eubank fought Groves who is bigger than he is outside the ring. Brook has fought once at MW vs GGG but Eubank has spent his entire career at MW and SMW. They way Eubank is talking it's like he thinks its a David vs Goliath mismatch at 155. Eubank is 3 years younger as well and a lot less battle worn than Brook who should really retire.

I get that Eubank is a prizefighter, but chasing a welterweight rather than Golovkin is a really bad look.

Then again his dad had no interesting in fighting Roy Jones, so like father like son I guess.

Kell Brook says Chris Eubank Jr ‘can’t box’ as he gives update on negotiations and warns rival not to ‘price himself out’

Kell Brook has told talkSPORT that Chris Eubank Jr would not be a difficult fight for him if they are to meet next.

The potential clash between the middleweight and welterweight has raised eyebrows among fans due to the difference between their standard divisions, however it’s been claimed that a weight has now been agreed in negotiations.

Talks remain ongoing over financials though, and Brook has sent a message to Eubank Jr in this regard.

“He needs to be more real about the money,” Brook told White and Jordan on talkSPORT, “I don’t want him to price himself out.

“I am the A-side. I’ve been in this game all my life, I’ve struggled from the bottom, getting myself to mandatory, world champion.

“I’m the A-side, so he’s gotta be real. I’ve got plenty of options, so I don’t need Eubank, Eubank needs me.”

Regarding the fight itself, Brook is convinced of an easy nights work.

“All I have to do to beat Chris Eubank is just turn up,” he continued.

“Just get me in the ring and turn up and I’ll beat him.

“I’ve boxed all my life, he can’t box in my opinion.

“We know he can fight and he’s got a good engine, he’s got a good chin, but look at what Billy Joe did.”

Nothing is finalised as yet, and Brook is keen to make it clear that he will stand firm by what he believes he is worth.

“I’m not gonna leave myself at a disadvantage,” he explained, “I’m the A-side, I’m not gonna give them anything.

“He’s not proven anything to me in his career.

“I think his best win to date was against Liam Williams – and I also know what happened in his training camp.

“Not taking anything away from Chris Eubank, he boxed him and he beat him, but if he wouldn’t have got the early knockdowns, would he have still won that fight?”
