I reckon one of the US shows. We’ll find out later I guess.

He’s fighting Miguel Cartagena on the Taylor/Serrano undercard.Ruthless-RKO wrote: ↑07 Apr 2022, 12:58I was assuming it might be on this.. But would be short notice? Considering he's not fighting cans.
The wait for the rest of the Benn undercard continues….

Hopefully Cullen has a meaningful fight.

Cullen got a bad beating last time. Think he will be in with a journey man tbh.

Funnily enough I was sat directly next to his girlfriend against Sadjo and she was more focused on her phone rather than the fight.
A bit skinny… but fit.
We got on because we both from Bolton but she didn’t give a shit about the boxing…
Even when he got chopped down. She didn’t even see the ending yet feigned devastation.
Was quite amusing.

Weird. She’s not a keeper if she’s not that arsed about him boxing.Dioufy wrote: ↑09 Apr 2022, 13:03Funnily enough I was sat directly next to his girlfriend against Sadjo and she was more focused on her phone rather than the fight.

Full card is pretty much confirmed now.
Underwhelming in total.
Campbell has Lee Glover.

Conor Benn: I wanted to win British title for my father
“It would’ve been nice for me to win the British title,” said Benn during a sit-down with DAZN ahead of his battle with Van Heerden. “It was a belt I wanted for the family as my dad never got the chance to win it so it’s not like I’ve disregarded the British scene at all. That belt would've meant a lot to me and my dad so of course it would've been nice to win.
“There was the chance to sort a fight out with Chris Jenkins a couple years back but that didn’t come off and when the Formella fight was made, that put me on a different path altogether. You can see now that I’m heading towards world level with the names I'm fighting and the way I’m beating them. A British title would've been nice, but the goal was always a world title and I’m getting very close to that.”

I actually thought there was something going on in the background that was going to mean this show would be cancelled given the paperthin card.
Fairly incredible that this and the Buatsi/Richards show are, unless I'm wrong, the only Matchroom UK shows for the whole of April and May?

Yeh. Haha. The British/Domestic scene is different to world level. There’s a different type of hunger.MasterG wrote: ↑11 Apr 2022, 09:15Heading towards world level with the names I've been fighting.Ruthless-RKO wrote: ↑11 Apr 2022, 06:51 Conor Benn: I wanted to win British title for my father

Yeah - not like they’re super stacked cards either.garethhop wrote: ↑11 Apr 2022, 09:23 I actually thought there was something going on in the background that was going to mean this show would be cancelled given the paperthin card.

The 2 US cards look strong though and I’m more looking forward to them than the U.K. ones.

Just a symptom of going to a new deal with a pretty weak roster.maverick23 wrote: ↑11 Apr 2022, 09:58Yeah - not like they’re super stacked cards either.garethhop wrote: ↑11 Apr 2022, 09:23 I actually thought there was something going on in the background that was going to mean this show would be cancelled given the paperthin card.

Smith/Vargas and Canelo/Bivol are the only two fights off them I'm interested in a- may get up for the Canelo fight.

I see Jimmy Metcalf has been given a solid test.

The issue for me isn’t really in the roster being weak (granted it’s not what it was a few years ago) - it’s the lack of shows or the lack of super depth that Eddie was indicating he’d now be able to deliver.garethhop wrote: ↑11 Apr 2022, 12:13Just a symptom of going to a new deal with a pretty weak roster.maverick23 wrote: ↑11 Apr 2022, 09:58Yeah - not like they’re super stacked cards either.garethhop wrote: ↑11 Apr 2022, 09:23 I actually thought there was something going on in the background that was going to mean this show would be cancelled given the paperthin card.

Where’s Callum Smith? Kal Yafai? Joe Cordina? Guys like Okolie and Cash fought 2 months ago - where are their next fights planned in? Where’s Babic? Lerrone Richards? Various others too. They should be being kept active. Richards had a good win in December and nothing at all since. Cheavon Clarke looked great on his debut. Again that was the best part of 2 months ago - no sign of him being out again quickly. Hard to build momentum or profile being inactive.
I quite like the bulk of the fights on the Canelo show. A step up (albeit not a massive one) for Hrgovic and I’m interested to see Montana Love again too.
I like the Taylor/Serrano fight although not enough to get up for it. Also interested in seeing Galal in action and I quite like the Ammo Williams fight too.

I haven’t even looked at who he’s fighting but imagine it’s a quick knock over job. Pointless and one of the things I hate about boxing. You’ll have to make sure you get there early for it.

He’s lost 22 of last 23 fights if my maths is right.maverick23 wrote: ↑11 Apr 2022, 12:56I haven’t even looked at who he’s fighting but imagine it’s a quick knock over job. Pointless and one of the things I hate about boxing. You’ll have to make sure you get there early for it.![]()
