Thank god Iran isn't all about Ayatollahs/Shahs and magic carpets........there is a rich undercurrent..
Re: BBC Panorama - "Boxing and the Mob"
My wife and I visited North Korea not too many years ago; Pyongyang, Kaesong, Kujang and up
Mt. Kumgang .. absolutely amazing.
Even our 'guide' who more or less stood one step behind us the whole time was great .. but like Iran, living there by their rules is another matter.

So Bob won’t work with MTK and Probellum. Will be easier said than done for him as I can’t see Conlan/Fury and co dropping MTK as a management company.
I assume ESPN will no longer show the MTK shows so perhaps there won’t be enough money to support the shows going forward.
I wonder if Eurosport/Discovery will continue to show the Probellum shows.

They will have to drop MTK or their careers are over. This isn’t something that can be ignored now. Kinahan may well be their mate, he has done good things for their boxing careers but that’s over now. It’s not just Daniel there are the same rewards for his brother and his dad. A warrant for Sean McGovern. Sandra Vaughn was pictured with DK in Pakistan recently. The cookie has crumbled.maverick23 wrote: ↑13 Apr 2022, 03:45 So Bob won’t work with MTK and Probellum. If indeed they are innocent of wrongdoing, like all the boxers say, just getting a few fighters to say so on twitter won’t cut it. Hasn’t cut it. They will need to fight thaI legally and in person. Or go into proper hiding.

I agree that’s what should happen but some of these guys don’t always think rationally. I can imagine several won’t like being told what to do or forced to do something.Wee Tommy wrote: ↑13 Apr 2022, 04:02They will have to drop MTK or their careers are over. MTK will say that Kinahan hasn’t been involved for years and the fighters will probably say the same.
I wonder if the assets of MTK or Probellum, if they’re U.K. entities, will have their assets frozen at some point under the Proceeds of Crime act.

It’s not about being told what to do. They won’t be able to make money via these entities. That’s why they are in boxing. Daniel won’t be able to do any business with anyone in the game anymore. Look at Arum already getting away, after saying Daniel was great for boxing etc. There is no choice at this point.maverick23 wrote: ↑13 Apr 2022, 04:28I agree that’s what should happen but some of these guys don’t always think rationally. The papers are saying that UK/Ireland are going to make their own announcements soon regarding the case. We shall see what happens. I think it’s likely that proceeds will get involved like you say.
Conlan BJS etc are on the books of one of the sanctioned companies.

We’ll need to see how it plays out but MTK will still be able to represent boxers and Probellum will still be able to promote in the U.K. unless something else happens. We all know Kinahan is involved with them but I guess the authorities will need proof before doing anything.Wee Tommy wrote: ↑13 Apr 2022, 04:38It’s not about being told what to do. It’s one thing Arum not showing MTK’s shows in the US but is he going to stop working with Fury, Conlan etc if they continue to be managed/aligned with MTK?
Will Eddie stop working with MTK managed fighters? I can’t see it as things stand.

I don’t think any of us know how this will play out but it’ll be interesting to find out.

Exactly. What hasn’t been released is information that’s already been gathered about the money trail (and without doubt this is already long underway). When this is put out there then the cat will really be out of the bag.

This is the kind of incident I was referring to when I said that Dublin has either the worst or most corrupt police.
Sounds like Mexico.

I think the feds could act after Fury Whyte and either freeze money off people or press some charges. It's interesting that they did all this a week before that fight. This is a heavyweight title fight on the grandest scale. A good way to make an example and set a precedent. If they let that fight go ahead and there are no repercussions afterward, then MTK should be able to move along as usual and Kinahan could do this advisor thing through intermediaries. I don't see the feds going to this much trouble and then being passive. They are on the attack. I could be wrong and the timing is just coincidence.

Re: BBC Panorama - "Boxing and the Mob"
How is that an example of corrupt police? The criminal gangs are above the law and that's just the way it is. They can break the law and get away with it, even to the point of murder. Every police force will have some corruption as it's just part of human nature and statistically you will get some corrupt people in a sample size.Wee Tommy wrote: ↑13 Apr 2022, 07:18 https://www.thejournal.ie/james-whelan- ... 6-Apr2022/

I don't think he'll bail as quickly as that. His problem will come if MTK is linked into the sanctions and Alphabet stop paying ad money on any videos that contain reference audibly or visually to that business. Practically his entire back catalogue will have to be taken down and edited.MightyWarrior wrote: ↑13 Apr 2022, 08:34 Ifilm have been kissing his arse up to now, but the serious journo kugan, after a period of self reflection (5 mins ) will now be taking himself to task over that previous misunderstanding

Josh Taylor deletes tweet praising advisor after £3.8m drug gang appeal
World champion Scottish boxer Josh Taylor has deleted a social media post praising the alleged boss of an international drug cartel after a £3.8m bounty was issued for his arrest.
Daniel Kinahan is wanted by US authorities for allegedly sourcing large quantities of cocaine from South America, playing “an integral part” in organizing the supply of drugs in Ireland, and attempting to facilitate the import of cocaine into the UK.
In a statement published on social media following accusations that Mr Kinahan is the leader of the Kinahan Organised Crime Group last year, Taylor said his advisor had “done nothing but good things for me in my life”.
“So hard not to go into depth about it all but I can honestly say hand on heart Daniel has and will continue to do nothing but good for the sport of boxing,” Taylor wrote.
In a since-deleted tweet, Taylor wrote of Kinahan: “He’s a great advisor and doing great things for the sport.
“I would never have had the deal with With (sic) Top Rank if it wasn’t for Daniel and he is also working on the best deal possible for the biggest fight of my life.
“I’ve had nothing but great experiences with him.”

Probably, he clearly loves boxing and it's the perfect sport for him to indulge in Sports Washing/ Money Laundering so I'd guess the majority of fighters are treated very well, particularly the big name ones.Wee Tommy wrote: ↑13 Apr 2022, 12:01It’s likely all true.Ruthless-RKO wrote: ↑13 Apr 2022, 11:15 Josh Taylor deletes tweet praising advisor after £3.8m drug gang appeal

It doesn't make him a good guy or make his involvement with the sport okay though.
There's probably people out there who met Jimmy Saville and only had a positive experience, it doesn't fix what he's done.

Quite a few people in the orbit of Harvey Weinstein eventually did show deep remorse for effectively being blind to the bad behavior because the opportunities and riches were so great. I'm not sure the people in this guy's orbit have either the intelligence or self-awareness for a similar catharsis.

Always amuses me how these gangland figures never have any shortage of people saying what a lovely bloke they are.
