I genuinely think Brook beats him. I'd put money on it if I knew he'd train like he did for khan, but that fight was an obsession, he'll never be in that shape again.

I think it depends on the weight. If they make Brook drain to 147 then I think Benn. I know it wasn’t the same Brook that fought Amir but it was concerning how Crawford stopped him with a strong jab (I think that was the shot anyway).mickey1975 wrote: ↑16 Apr 2022, 05:22 I genuinely think Brook beats him. 149/150 makes it a pick ‘em for me as I just can’t see Brook ever getting in the shape he was for the Khan fight.

As you know, Crawford is a bit better than Benn. I saw Kell last week, he looks buzzing still. Not too big, either. I think the weight of the world has been lifted off his shoulders.maverick23 wrote: ↑16 Apr 2022, 05:30I think it depends on the weight. If they make Brook drain to 147 then I think Benn. Yeah - of course he is. It was just a shot that I was surprised hurt Kell as much as he did. I think Benn has fairly decent power so I could see him landing and hurting Brook at 147.mickey1975 wrote: ↑16 Apr 2022, 05:34As you know, Crawford is a bit better than Benn. Re: Conor Benn vs. Chris van Heerden | DAZN - 16 April 2022
I think Benn is grossly underrated on here. I don’t know why.
To me he’s one of the best prospects in the world. I’d fancy this version of Benn to be a little too much for Brook.
Conor has tremendous ferocity and he’s as fit as they come.
I could see a 115-113 or late stoppage vs Brook.
He could stop van Heerden brutally in a minute and it still wouldn’t be enough for some.
He’s been well managed so far and if he wins well then his next fight needs to be a huge one.
The Ava fight makes all the sense in the world.
Hearn saying that he needs a ticket-seller to put Benn in with.
I think it sells 20k at the 02 easily.

Re: Conor Benn vs. Chris van Heerden | DAZN - 16 April 2022
Connor Benn is such a hard one because on the one hand i want him in with big names, but on the other i kinda gotta respect going at the right pace. He dosent need to fight for a belt until spence and craw are gone... By then ortiz should be up a division, Boots will grab 1 or 2... Connor needs to be perched waiting for one of the other belts. probably 2 years/4 fights away.
Need to stay relevent, make money, but hold off the resentment in that time.
Honestly, Id happily watch him vs : Khan, Brook, josh kelly, Ekow, Mckinson, Ava, Kongo, Thurman, Danny garcia, Mikey Garcia, Rocha, Cobbs, broner, Marku, ray robson, Either ortiz... and about 10 other names. and i dont expect the best of them...
Once you accept that promotional chat is just talk, and that he is boarderline a prospect who was deadset shit 3 years ago, and is not on PPV, accepting lesser names is easy. Its the people that belive Eddie that get upset.
*Wildcard play.... Throw big cash at manny pac if he loses the election in may... (that move stands for everyone between 135-147)

Re: Conor Benn vs. Chris van Heerden | DAZN - 16 April 2022
Good post that.
Maybe a lot of the resentment comes from the bullshit Hearn spouts. I’d genuinely believe that Benn will fight anyone from 140-154lbs.
He’s stated in the past that he will lose fights but as long as he gives his all then he will have no regrets.
Hearn needs to avoid that loss as long as possible for obvious reasons.

I think Hearn is doing a great job. Worrying how they won't let him near a puncher... Theres 3,500 tickets sold today and Jack Cullen has done most. My socials haven't even mentioned it. He really isn't a global star. That is just stupid to even think it.

Frank Smith almost slipped up with the attendance yesterday when moaning how difficult it is to get venues now. Nobody cares about Conor.

Yeah, more evidence of Hearn talking crap. It’s weird because he used to be a lot more honest and likeable in his greener days; he’s definitely been absorbed by boxing and will likely get more bitter, less honest and the bullshit will go up x10.mickey1975 wrote: ↑16 Apr 2022, 06:09Hearn. On IFL a few days ago he’s saying “just under 6k sold”.
Not really good in a 25k arena.

He is obviously nowhere nearrrr the star matchroom say he is. If he was he would sell out manchester, or liverpool and wouldent blame being out of london. so I Do think matchroom need to chillout on how much they are talking him up untill he is in a fight people are happy with.
I also think Connors 3500ish tickets is a broarder problem showing up. Post sky matchroom seem to be struggling to promote. They are still getting decent shows on, but unless you get your boxing news through youtube (something casuals dont) then how do these Dazn cards get hyped, what makes you go buy a ticket.

And they haven't done anywhere near 6k. Conor doesn't have a fan base, he didn't even grow up here. He's ok to watch on telly. Why they've taken him to liverpool and Manchester u don't know. To promote the brand? Eddie knows it was all the local lads selling the tickets. I doubt Conor has sold one from his hand.Dioufy wrote: ↑16 Apr 2022, 06:13Yeah, more evidence of Hearn talking crap. I agree re: the thoughts that Benn is underrated on here. I think part of it is frustration though with talk of a big fight/name and then it’s someone at the tail end of their career.Dioufy wrote: ↑16 Apr 2022, 05:37 I think Benn is grossly underrated on here. I don’t know why.

Eddie is saying he wants a big fight next (granted I’m pretty sure he’s said before) and he needs to deliver one. I think Broner and probably Danny Garcia would do a lot more business than Ava. I have literally never seen Wembley Arena have a lower attendance than when he was headlining last month and I’d imagine their TV viewers reflected that too. Benn/Ava is a great fight for hardcore boxing fans but in reality it wouldn’t mean much outside of that.
It may well still sell out the O2 because it’d be a 50/50 on paper but I think Benn beats and stops him. Kelly was winning the early rounds against Ava but loosing the fight as he throwing hard on every shot, not putting much of a dent into Ava and fatigued quickly due to that and Ava’s pressure. Benn is a much more relaxed, 12 round fighter than Kelly and I think he’d stop Ava in the mid rounds.

I think this is one of the first shows that demonstrates that re: tickets. They sold well for Wood (which I was surprised about given Froch rarely sold that well at the Nottingham Arena), Warrinngton and Ryder (thanks Johnny Fisher) and they sold pretty well for Benn/Algeiri too.gregregegg wrote: ↑16 Apr 2022, 06:24 He is obviously nowhere nearrrr the star matchroom say he is. I still think matchroom has one of my favorite stables and put on good cards, but i do think there in a bit of trouble. Clashes are becoming more common, and you can have the best card, but if people dont know about it it dosent matter.

i rated benn here way before pretty much anyone else did, saying he'd be a world champ and i think he's gotten even better. i also defended the formella fight when ppl slated it. but by this point im fed up that they've still got him on a constant diet of pillow hands dudes that have 0 fire of their own, it's been non stop with these types
if he's as good as you and i think, ffs move on from all the pillow hands survivalists. fight someone with a hint of power and desire who has some momentum of their own. the aversion to guys like that show his team isnt as confident in him as we are. van heerden couldnt crack an egg and hasnt boxed a complete round in 3 years

Re: Conor Benn vs. Chris van Heerden | DAZN - 16 April 2022
Been saying for a while that Benn is nowhere near the legend that is being made out. Not really sure what Hearn is hoping to gain here, he' so invested in Benn, and I don't think he warrants it. It's true though, Hearn is talking about him being a global star now lol ffs
And then we look at ticket sales for this which are poor. Benn has added little to those sales in my opinion. There are some good ticket sellers on the card below him, and then you have a Hatton on there too. Yet still only 6k (probably comfortably less if truth be told)
As for Van Heerden, someone said he hasn't won by stoppage since 2014. I thought that's bollocks, but yeah not far off the truth it seems. This is poor. They have zero confidence in his chin.
It's alright yacking about his ferocity, but when you can walk through people we can all look like monsters. Let's see him in with a sharpshooter or someone that can hit back with some authority and ideally someone below fkn 30.
I've said already, don't be surprised to see Khan next.

Of course that helps but Wood didn’t have the benefit of being built up on terrestrial TV and winning his world title with millions watching. I went to watch Froch/Dirrell live and that was a long way from being full.mickey1975 wrote: ↑16 Apr 2022, 07:48Froch never boxed an irish guy selling a few thousand himself.maverick23 wrote: ↑16 Apr 2022, 06:51I think this is one of the first shows that demonstrates that re: tickets.
