I mean he succeeded to hurt Bivol's left arm like he did with Callum but Bivol was a better and a stronger opponent than Callum. The problem with Canelo was that he only relied on that single game plan ie to chop down gradually Bivol.

Canelo as a very seasoned elite fighter should've been prepared by his trainer to have more game plans and different ways of fighting.
People saying Canelo has improved 10 fold since his Mayweather fight over exaggerate. He's still the same fighter, just has that big fight experience and maybe added a few tweaks to his game, but all in all he's the same fighter skill wise. At least I don't see this huge improvement. He was fighting pretty damn even with Caleb Plant and BJS leading up to those stoppages, so it was pretty clear he could still be outboxed. But the people who claimed he was on a different level and could walk through who ever he faced, bought into this false narrative that he was a completely different fighter out there.

I'm not sure Canelo could do much with Bivol in a rematch. I could even see the rematch going worse for Canelo. It seemed to me Bivol could have stepped on the gas later in that fight and really put it to Canelo worse than he did. Based on Canelos history of coming on strong late in fights I feel Bivol stayed honest and he decided to just win the decision and call it a day, rather than push more for a stoppage. Fatigue and frustration had already set in for Canelo mid fight and his body language told the story, he knew he had nothing to really trouble Bivol at that point.

The only thing I am happy about is the judges got the right winner.
Great win for Bivol. No hate on Canelo, but some hate toward his rabid fans

Bivol was cautions and he was defending well bc Canelo was countering him hard. I think in rematch Canelo will do better, as well as Bivol.

If the rematch would be close or seemingly close the judges would give it to Canelo.

In my view, Lara has every right to be pissed off.
If he had a fair judgement, he would have beat Canelo, and made megabucks on the rematch.
Even Bivol didn't get a fair judgement and had to win 10-2 in order to scrape a win. Good for him, but it still sucks for guys like Lara...

Canelo beat Lara.

Technically speaking, anyone believing otherwise is in the minority.

What does that tell you? It wasn’t a robbery.

Canelo vs Lara was a close fight, interesting contrast in styles. We all saw why Canelo was hesitant to take the fight.

Call it a draw, or whatever, but I thought Lara won. The one Martinez judge scoring it 117-111 should be banned from ever judging again. Was it a "business" decision on his part? (paid off) Obviously.

@ EO:

You scoring the Canelo/Bivol fight a draw is a glaring example of why people with no boxing knowledge should score fights. Is your real name Adalaide Byrd?

Fair enough Lightie,
I did start my post with "In my view"
Which is to say that I scored the fight a narrow victory for Lara. It wasn't a robbery "in my view" but I strongly believe Canelo lost that one.

Canelo gave us a great fight by taking a big rysk which other "champions" don't do bc they're staying safe protecting their 0, and ironically want to get a big payday from Canelo.

I think Canelo will get back stronger, more improved and more savvy like he did after the FMJ fight! Canelo will probably rematch Bivol and try to avenge his loss.

Could you imagine the cheap arse-licking on the social media from the fighters that are happy now, if Canelo would beat fair&square Bivol in rematch?
So the PED cheater finally had a fight where even the judges ( the cards we off, he lost at least 8-4 ) couldn't seal it for him, and the big fights he "won" were vs. past their prime fighters! I say its poetic justice but that would be taking away from Bivol. He won going away, GGG did too in the first fight. What is he going to look like at 36 vs. younger men without the judges in his pocket? That explains some of the celebration.

I don't think Canelo will be boxing at 36. I think he already is 36 biologically even though he is 31 chronologically. I predicted that he wouldn't be good in his early 30s. He probably has been in decline after the Golovkin fights, but because he was still winning, not many people noticed.

Indeed, I understand that as GGG was jobbed by his victory in the 1st fight but realistically most of these fighters are salivating to get a fight vs Canelo at any weight Canelo wants for the PAYDAY!

Oh and yes, Bivol won clearly 8-9 rounds of 12.
