They tried to do Khan/Canelo on regular Sky for example. Not a chance that they would have tried BJS or Callum Smith as early morning PPVs.

Khan/Canelo was on allegedly. I can’t remember if they also had it on BT too.

I’m pretty sure they would have done Canelo/Billy Joe as PPV on Sky. Clearly wouldn’t have done huge numbers but Canelo’s a bigger name now than he was when he fought Khan.

They’re not because they’re much harder sells. That’s not to say they wouldn’t do them though. Canelo/Billy Joe is the only fight on DAZN so far where some of my casual fan mates have asked about DAZN and in a couple of cases they subscribed to it for that fight.

I can understand him wanting to have more control on shoulder programming/production for boxing. Some of the stuff they have on YouTube (that not many people watch) in the build up/fight night is great but I can’t see anywhere near the same need for darts as it’s broadly the same people every week/tournament.

Whether the darts moves in 2025 I’m not sure but whoever gets them will likely be paying a hell of a lot more than they’re paying now as the cost will likely currently be comparatively small for something like the world champs compared to the amount of viewers/hours of coverage it gets.

The 2 weeks is the world champs and gets some of Sky’s best viewing figures. They have loads of other tournaments throughout the year and have the premier league that covers something like 16 weeks.

I’d be surprised if it leaves Sky but having DAZN around will mean they can likely leverage a fair bit more for it.

What makes you think DAZN are so keen to get a linear channel? Have they done that in the other markets they’ve actually spent heavily in (Italy, Japan etc)? If that was their business MO then it’s quite easy to get a TV channel sorted and live.
