I had the legendary Skeletor on R5.

I can't quite believe that.
We all thought Joe could get one punch KOs at domestic level with the speed and skillz, but it's just so rare to spark out a champ at world level with one clean shot ! He didn't catch him cold, he wasn't tired, he just took him straight out with one shot.
Really, really REALLY good performance, BUT..

There are still a lot of questions about Cordina. He wouldn't be that big a favourite against Zelfa.
I doubt he could spark Barrett out with one shot, but who expected him to do that to Ogawa.
He could with that shot

Maybe, but it seemed like something we might not see again. A "Hand of God" moment. Also Barrett might be a little more slippery

He could take out anyone with that it was perfect. :salut:

But, it was probably the shot of his career, you can't expect him to do that on a regular basis. If he does he'll be HOF PPV star.

Of course he's favourite to beat Barrett, but the fight is likely to be close and competitive, not a perfect KO2.

It was the perfect shot, it made the sound of a perfect shot so no question on Ogawa or his chin, it was powerful.
But as you said, it may not be repeated. It took Marquez 30 rounds to land the perfect shot on Manny...

It’s not common knowledge, but basically Ogawa and handsofstone used to play Monopoly occasionally, and Ogawa would always insist on being the banker and give himself more money whenever handsofstone wasn’t looking. Bit of a sore subject with him now.

Great shot from Cordina, I did not see that coming and neither did Ogawa, great punch.

Glad Ogawa is ok. I'd love to see that fight again, I think it would be more intriguing than a Barrett fight which I fear would be unexciting as I'm not convinced their styles would gel.

Eddie will have to give us Cordina/Stevenson but I smell a near future match-up with Zelfa given his IBF ranking and the notable recent performances.

Keeping an eye on Dalton Smith for some years now, efficient boxer and I hope he gets a serious test in his next fight.

Cordina showed a lot of speed there. I don't think Ogawa even saw the punch coming despite Cordina being right in front of him throwing it. It's not like it was a counter or anything. Ogawa was looking straight at him but Cordina really exploded into that one. That will really enhance his reputation and give opponents a little bit of a fear factor now. He's able to land power shots with that kind of speed right in front of you and leaving you out cold on the canvas. Japanese fighters don't usually get starched.

smokin joe starched a guy ko1 in his fight before this too, but none of us really took much note because the guy wasnt at this level. he may not be a raw ko artist huge power type, but he can land those quick clean shots ppl dont expect

Stoppage was a bit early I thought. Ogawa could have continued.

jameswilson wrote: 04 Jun 2022, 16:12 I think this is the first time I’ve seen a European title fight in this country with 3 neutral judges and a neutral referee.

Also good to know what Robert Smith’s middle initial is.
Dilmaghani/ Ziani, which was a strong euro level
Fight for the title. Kourbanov has a pretty record but when you look into it (lots of SD WINS, dropped by journeymen, and winning a majority against a 10-5 Italian for the belt) you realise he’d struggle to make the uk top 10. Kourbanov is proper fringe British level. A dominant win for zelfa…. Matchroom matchmaking is second to none, they have all the resources.
