It’s nothing to do with knowledge.TopGun wrote: ↑15 Jun 2022, 11:28 Boxrec is the only forum I read for boxing insights these days. I used to subscribe to Boxing news, read BS every hour but not anymore. As Ive got older Ive filtered where I get my info from.

It says you joined in 2013 on your profileLenny Cravats wrote: ↑15 Jun 2022, 12:46 I joined here in 2003 as a 21 year old.
There was a lot of people in that 20-30 age bracket.
In the near 20 years that have passed, a lot of those people are still here. Average age seems to have moved up to 35+
So? I first joined in 2001 or 2002. Livingstone has been here for what seems like forever.Controversial wrote: ↑15 Jun 2022, 13:13It says you joined in 2013 on your profileLenny Cravats wrote: ↑15 Jun 2022, 12:46 I joined here in 2003 as a 21 year old.

Very similar age/timeframe for me and couldn't agree more. It's like a second community, except one where I don't actually know anyone in personLenny Cravats wrote: ↑15 Jun 2022, 12:46 I joined here in 2003 as a 21 year old.

On a side note Spud.... you ex forces? Ex Sapper myself... wishing you well with the Parkinsons
Big Mark is a good lad, you can buy his book on Amazon https://www.amazon.co.uk/Darker-Day-Mar ... 8469749986the patriot wrote: ↑16 Jun 2022, 15:31 This is the only boxing forum I've visited, and that's not very often nowadays...
As has already been stated, social media seems to have taken over, especially for those involved in the sport professionally. I can remember the likes of Tony Bellew and Steve Bunce using this site (probably many more that escape me)
I used to help Big Mark with the prediction league, when I had a lot more time on my hands. He's a user I've not seen frequent this site in ages, another good user was Stuart?? Always made me laugh, is he still about?

It was the BBC 606 forum for me at first and then here. I don’t use social media and don’t use any other forums for anything else either. It’s not difficult to find anyone in person to have a semi knowledgeable fitba, rugby or politics debate around here but it’s harder with boxing.Boxerbeetle wrote: ↑14 Jun 2022, 15:05 I used to like the old BBC 606 boxing message board and the SecondsOut forum many years ago, other than that I’ve only really ever come on here. The Boxing sub on Reddit can be decent for RBR / post-fight reaction threads, but it’s very heavily skewed with US posters and there’s not much collective historical knowledge, whereas Boxrec clearly has some old-time gurus.
Twitter is just absolute shit.

I worked doing odd bits for Frank Maloney, working for Frank came at about the sametime as the emergence of the boxing forums (Britishboxing.com)
I then went to work for Mick Hennessy and then Robert Waterman & Dennis Hobson (Fight Academy) … which included working on 2 shows in Las Vegas (Robert was the owner of secondsout.com)
Then out of the blue I got a DM on here from David Haye inviting me to London for an interview … which eventually led to a job offer.
I gained a reputation as doing a good job as a “whip” … worked on quite a few promoters shows.
Then I received an invite to work for Sauerland on the WBSS shows … working for them was an absolute dream because I worked on shows in:
UK
Germany
Latvia
Saudi Arabia
Russia
I fully understand why people dislike me from the forums … I was controversial to say the least and if I were honest I cringe at what I was like …
But a lot of what I wrote on the forums got my name known whether that is good or bad. So actual regrets I have to say no ..
I have lived the dream as a boxing fan and for that I will be forever grateful.
Having Parkinson’s has mellowed me an awful lot …
I still get invites from various promoters to work but the condition has f*cked me up good and proper .. it definitely hasn’t made me bitter as I have had a damn good life…
To some peoples dislike I am redirecting my energies to the forums…
