Seriously? If that is true then it does show what a proffessional job he does. I always thought his enthusiam shine (especially immediately post fight).

No.... I actually don't mind his commentary - he SEEMS enthusiastic at least if a bit samey and his interviews are okay (remember allegedly!).

However, when he did that one off last season as presenter he wasn't at all good. I just kept looking at his wig.

I also thought he did a good job and it's a bit sad that SKY haven't been able to hang onto him.....after the years he has put in.

Nah, he'd ask a respected trainer how the girl with the green peg got such a fit arse and then nod at the right points before throwing it to the panel. He could probably talk to an accountant and make himself look earnest and interested.

Totally off-course but how about drafting Kamara in to shout and scream a bit? They could give him a crash course in boxing and send him to small-hall shows, he'd go off his tits with some of the action.

Can you imagine? He gets overexcited at Bury v Burnley type games. Imagine him at a packed York Hall?

If it's true about Dempsey leaving SkySports, then it's a real shame. I thought he was excellent. I don't know he really liked boxing or not, but for me he nearly always treated boxing with respect and seemed to take it seriously. For genuine boxing fans this is a big plus point.

I really like Ron McIntosh as a presenter, but not sure if he'd suit the SkySports style.

McIntosh clearly holds boxing in high regard and obviously does his homework. Unlike the other twats at the BBC like John Inverdale. I remember some other tosser at the Beeb who treated the De La Hoya-Fernando Vargas match like it was joke fight.

I should hope not. Derek's shows are going to be of the strictly small hall not usually televised type. You have to have a subscription to Setanta to receive it don't you? I think non-subscribers can get the PPVs though.

Well good on him....but I love my boxing and turn up to a lot of shows but that doesn't make me a good presenter...... he lacks the necessary presence, quick thinking and verbal skills to make a presenter.

I've always taken Dempsey for granted and its a surprise to hear that he's moving on, with hindsight I have to say he's been very good in the position. Sometimes you don't appreciate people until they've moved on...

I hope Adam Smith gets the job, he was very competent last night (Sky's Quartey vs Forrest show), and his enthusiasm and knowledge for the sport have been quite evident over the years. The worst criticism I've heard of Smith is that he has sometimes got over-excited by events, which really isn't anything to be ashamed of, is it ? I'd rather see that than the kind of bored attitude that Colin Hart always brings to proceedings, as an earlier poster on this thread pointed out.

Good luck to Adam Smith

And to Dempsey in his new job, for that matter.

At the moment, Setanta has a range of sports/channels on a subcription. I believe (although not sure) that if you want one - you have to get the lot. To my knowledge, boxing has only been on there on a PPV basis, with prices varying - cheapest being Bennett vs Earl.

I do believe Sky are in negotations with Setanta in trying to make their regular channels free to Sky Sports subscribers. This is because they want the 100% of the live premiership games on their digital platform only. I'm not sure (if successful) this will be for just the football or for the whole channel.

I personally wouldn't mind paying a one off small fee for each of Derek Williams' show - but I wouldn't like it to be part of the subscription service (i.e. not PPV but on their regular channels) if I have to pay any extra on a regular basis for sports actions I'm not that interested in.

No, you are quite right that being a good bloke doesn't make you a good presenter. I was merely coming to his defence after you unnecessarily went over the top.
