Despite it not being the Thurman of 5 years ago, we would not be able to discredit Benn any longer if he picked up the win. It would be a top 10 win (unless Thurman's performances crumble after that).
Conor Benn vs. Mikey Garcia
Re: Conor Benn vs. Mikey Garcia
Would be ironic to see Ben get a 50/50 SD against Thurman for Thurman to get banged out in 1 next by Harry Scarff.

Re: Conor Benn vs. Mikey Garcia
I thought it was decided he would fight the bloke who Thurman beat last time out and Tank Davis knocked out the fight before that? Barrios
Re: Conor Benn vs. Mikey Garcia
Hadn't heard that. Bit of a hard sell though.forcefraser wrote: ↑06 Jul 2022, 15:54 I thought it was decided he would fight the bloke who Thurman beat last time out and Tank Davis knocked out the fight before that? Barrios
He's been calling out Davis and Thurman (and everyone above him) so if they feed him their sloppy seconds, who is going to be interested in that?

Re: Conor Benn vs. Mikey Garcia
We can banter names all day long only thing for sure its going to be a good fighter coming well up in weight and on the end of there good days , , someome his own size who can't punch and is still past there used by date , . Or someone probably smaller who can punch his weight but is still past his use by date ,
Only thing for sure is Hearn is still going to pay him above his worth , for beating easier people than he should for the money he gets ,, Theres a reason he's being nursed along , and i just can't think why , after all does he sell enough tickets , i know i've kept an eye on him but i would never pay for a ppv he's in , Hearn is'nt gonna piss on my back and tell me its raining

Re: Conor Benn vs. Mikey Garcia
Mikey Garcia was there last night at the 02.
Re: Conor Benn vs. Mikey Garcia
Could possibly just be hanging round the training camp with his brother , But then again he would probably be the sort of opponent they will look for , small won't do 147 to good , bit out of shape , not really got the interest in the game , offered terrific money for his name ,, sounds like theve got Connors opponent
Re: Conor Benn vs. Mikey Garcia

Hearn Says Thurman, Not Eubank, Is Top Target for Benn: We've Got The Money
“We want the Keith Thurman fight,” Hearn reiterated to Pro Boxing Fans. “I’ve had a million questions today about Conor Benn against Chris Eubank Jr. We’re not in final negotiations about that fight. It’s a fight that always gets brought up because, of course, it’s one of the biggest fights of all time, but right now we’re focused on the welterweight division and hopefully that will be Keith Thurman.”
He’s a big star, Conor Benn,” Hearn continued. “We’ve got the money to make sure we can do that. We’ll see what happens.”
“I think it’s a sad moment in the sport if you can’t mention fighters that are outside of your stable,” Hearn told iFL TV, Hearn said. “We should always be looking to fight the best, and Keith Thurman is one of the best 147-pounders in the world. I’ve spoken to Luis DeCubas, and I’ve mentioned to him that we would like to fight Keith Thurman.”

Re: Conor Benn vs. Mikey Garcia
I’d be really disappointed if this is legit. I think it’s true but I think it’s really messing with Benn’s career and putting short term cash for him, and business for Eddie and DAZN, over properly building his career.
Eubank will simply be too big and Benn, who’s not a big welter, will struggle to carry the additional weight and additional power of his opponent.
Eddie teased a massive announcement on the daily DAZN show last night which makes me think this is it.

It isn't one of the biggest fights "of all time". Nowhere near.Ruthless-RKO wrote: ↑13 Jul 2022, 10:18 Hearn Says Thurman, Not Eubank, Is Top Target for Benn: We've Got The Money

Re: Conor Benn vs. Mikey Garcia

Re: Conor Benn vs. Mikey Garcia
They need to launch DAZN PPV for sure. No other opponent for Benn does that apart from Eubank.
Dunno what to make of it. In one sense if Benn loses then he hasn’t lost anything really and can say he was outsized, ect and go back to 147lbs.
On the other hand maybe he gets damaged by the bigger guy ala Kell Brook and it may hinder him going forward if it’s a bad bad defeat.
On the other hand it could end up like PAC/ODLH and a win for Benn tells us we dealing with a star.
Too much. I dunno what way to go.

I know Garcia had his promotional problems as a 3 weight champion in limbo.
Could not understand the step up to WW to face Spence......must be dollars.
Now he's facing the prodigal son. Can't blame either tbh. Or the promotional teams to get best dollar for both.

Quite right Mikey doesn’t need a chime of Father Time to enable a retirement watch.Dioufy wrote: ↑14 Jul 2022, 03:42Retired due to fear of Benn banging him out in 1.Ruthless-RKO wrote: ↑14 Jul 2022, 03:28Mikey has announced his retirement.SticknMove wrote: ↑13 Jul 2022, 23:36 I know Garcia had his promotional problems as a 3 weight champion in limbo.
