Richard was one of my favourite boxers to watch a couple of years ago, but he has only had one fight in almost 20 months, and that wasn't the toughest match.

2 fights actually.

Lockett WBUseless.

Elcock - had his chance.

Rhodes?.. Went down the wbu route.

Who else is there?.

Bendall?

Halder?.

Yes - he deserves the shot.

:TU:
I think Darren McDermott's recent form has been good. He's beaten Monaghan and Halder.

But yes, given his success as a Light Middle and the way he's performed at Super Middle - I would say he deserves the shot. Might have been nice to have seen him in an eliminator.

In all honesty. Mcdermott needs to show more.

Mcdonagh and Halder are average.

Dann knocked out Halder in 1 round and DANN wanted no part of RW.

RW is a former IBO and Commonwealth Title Holer.

He deserves the shot and an eliminator would be pointless for RW at this stage.

RW Vs HE...

Yes!!!

Sweet, it will be a nice fight if it comes off. Still got to have Eastman as a fave though, as I feel he would be against any brit middle, just because of who he is.

Maybe Eastman is the favourite - but I would not count out a RW win on points - Howard is LAZY with a Capital L!

I am happy that RW is oin line for such a fight.

British Boxing NEEDS some intersting fights and this is an interesting fight!

I'd have to go with Eastman, i just think he's going to have that extra strength and power over Richard. Although Eastman has lost his last 3 they have been in good company, and before losing to Abraham and Miranda he had both of them in trouble. It was those boxers strength that got them out of trouble, and I don't think that Williams has that same strength.
I can see Williams starting the better boxer, but Eastman coming through in the later rounds for a stoppage. 9-10 rounds.

On a different note anyone else think that Sergio Gabriel Martinez, who beat Williams twice, is wasting his career, he looked great over here , but since then all he's done is fight in low level matches.

Absolutely, he's looked good since his stint in Britain but against no names. I really wanted to see him and Karmazin go for it.

He had the same problem at Welter.

No one wants to fight him because he is too good and brings nothing to the table.

He needs to be with a Promoter like Golden Boy.

Yes he is wasting his time.

Matchroom had options on him - but could not get him the fights and let him go.

Eastman has seen better days. I agree its either an Eastman stoppage late or Williams on points. I can't see Eastman outworking Williams.

Awesome! The Battersea Bomber is back! And finally humbled, thank f--k. Realistically Howard has nowhere to go now, so has to rebuild from this level. Could way to judge what he has left. I still hope for Eastman to get one last crack, but it looks like Miranda might clean up these mediocre middles, so future may be bleak...

Eastman hasn't accepted yet.

Lets hope he does!

Darren McDermott's form is good enough for a British title shot. I've seen a lot worse nominations than McDermott.

I'd fancy McDermott to give a very good account of himself if someone gave him the chance. His fitness and desire in when the 1st bell goes is very impressive.

No one complained about the Rankings..

1) Howard Eastman

2) Scott Dann

3) Richard Williams.

Dann Vacates - so 1 & 3 fight.

Mcdermottts time will come - 18 months to 2 years he may be the finished article.

Sorry DG, I do agree - I applauded the BBBoC's nomination of Williams - for past achievements at the lower weight more than anything else.

I mentioned McDermmot, cause you mentioned Halder (with a question mark) as one of only 2 other potential canditates.... well, McDermott beat Halder.

I like the sounds of Eastman vs Williams and liked the sounds of it two years back.... but if not Eastman then how about Williams vs McDermmot for the vacant title.

Williams has noithing to gain ( apart from the belt) from Beating Mcdermott or even Dann.

Beating Eastman?...

DOOR KKICKED OPEN AND RW WILL BE IN DEMAND FOR SOME GOOD FIGHTS!

WOULD NOT SURPRISE ME TO SEE ABRAHMS WANT TO DEFEND AGAINST WILLIAMS IF HE BEATS EASTMAN.

Mcdermotts of this world - not great motivating fights imo.

To guys like Williams I'm sure the thought of winning a British title should be motivation enough.

If Eastman doesn't take the fight and McDermott was available, Richard would have to on top form to beat him IMO. Any British middleweight who takes McDermott lightly will probably lose. He's that good already.

Not cponvinced re: Mcdermott.

I doubt RW takes anyone lightly.

Hopefully Howard steps up!

Has everyone on this board lost their minds..? The co Howard has mixed in is leagues above Richard Williams! Who the hell is this geezer?! Why are you all so high on him? Hes 35 & has been stopped in light-middle company...

Eastman bangs this chump out regardless of how long he sticks & moves. Eastman WORLD CLASS, williams, with lowercase w, domestic class.

Eastman isn't world class, he's good Euro class. Also I can't see him wanting to come back to British level to rebuild again at his age, remember how long it took him last time round to get back to a world title shot. I also feel he's got a bit of a name now so finding fights with other fringe top 10 fighters shouldn't be that difficult. It's not like losing writes you off esp not in the middleweight division (Shannan Taylor, Javier Castillejo).

If Eastman was to beat Williams it would probably rank as one of his best wins. I don't think their levels are that different.

Eastman is world class on what basis? Beating McCracken? Thats how he got the high WBC ranking. McCracken was overrated himself off the back of beating Lonnie Beasley.

Exactly, and outside of that what do you have? Soliman who was fighting anyone at any weight on any sort of notice in those days, Scott Dann? Hacine Cherifi?

You could def make a case for a win over Williams ranking as his second best

Eastman beat Joppy but didnt get the nod. Even if you dont believe that, i'd love to see how williams would have coped in fights with Joppy, Hopkins, Abraham. All losses, all knockouts.

Eastman did not beat Joppy, he lost it fair and square by standing and posing when he should have been throwing punches. Joppy was too good for him, simple as. I believe Howard to be a fringe world class fighter at his peak, but always beatable by someone who wanted it more.

I agree with James, Eastman did not beat Joppy he did nothing for the majority of the fight. Face it guys Eastman is just not that good. A hard hitter but one paced and predictable.
