Hard to say they have had disapointing carrers.

Jermell is currently undisputed. he probably has another 3 good years left.

Plant was a mediocour amature, with zero hype and managed to get a world title and be involved in a masssive undisputed clash for millions... Noone knew who he was till the Jose Uzcategui upset. Now he has a name and probably a good 5 years to go.

Both could easily be seen as overachievers.

plant was national golden gloves champ, he wasnt a mediocre amateur

and op meant jermall btw

i'd have to say jermall, as he's imo better of the two, yet it's plant who has landed the big fight. plant winning a wbc title , getting a few defenses, and a big fight vs canelo, now straight back on a ppv.....i think that's very good for his level and boring style

mall meanwhile has been stagnating for years, now 32 and never gotten a big fight. last fight vs a guy banged out by mung and adames

If you mean Jermall Charlo. I'd put Plant's accomplishments over his.

Jermell Charlo however has surpassed Caleb Plant.

Mediocre amateur is kinda a relative term... golden gloves is great, not taking away from it. but for a future world champ, id say failing to make the Olympic team is kinda mediocre...

Not going to blame the poster on this one.... Responsibility for these kinda mix ups lie solely on some deadshit parenting... Why are boxing parents so fornicating whack. jermall and jermell... Garry A russle x5ish? george formans kids names are the pisstake...

disagree, to me a mediocre amateur career is more like someone who couldnt even win a national title. if so many top fighters werent olympians, that shouldnt be the standard

looking at smw specifically, joe c, kessler, abraham. froch, bute, eubank, benn, toney etc......none were olympians either

not everyone got the super lax qualification standards that the aussies enjoyed for years. beat a samoan and a tongan and you're in ! :OhYes:

I mean, its just interpritation of how I use the term mediocre, which is probably my bad.

What i ment was, His amature carrer wasnt excelent, and he wasnt some blue chip prospect expected to become a world champ... so becoming a world champ is an overachivment in my eyes.

I think Charlo has had the better promotion backing, and therefore had more opportunities to turn down.

Jermell Charlo has not had a disappointing career; he shouldn't be in this conversation.

The smaller Charlo clearly achieved more, the bigger one has a more disappointing career indeed.

Actually, Plant's career isn't that bad. The division is far from the great state now and Plant tried to challenge the best guy there. Now it's interesting to see him against Benavidez.

Jermall Charlo achieved more.

Caleb Plant probably earned more.

Both men are underachievers, but most boxers would prefer to earn more money than accolades.

So Plant did better out of the two, at this point in time.

But ifJermall gets his shot at Canelo, then he’ll overtake Plant.
