Mak would be easy to make, both TR.

You can chose 10-15 for a challenger too.

Shane was the one who put out Ruiz and I think that would be a good substitute if Usyk couldn't be made. It would be one of those legacy fights because 10 or 20 or 30 years from now when people argue about this time they could point out that Tyson Fury fought everyone who held a belt basically. He definitely needs more than just Wilder 3x's on his resume. Beating Ruiz would put him ahead of Usyk and Joshua because that'd mean Fury fought and beat three title holders: Klitschko, Wilder, and Ruiz.
Joshua beat Klitschko, Ruiz, Parker and the great Prince Charles Martin. That's four former champs he has beat, so that makes Joshua better than Fury or is that a flawed argument that you're using? Even Wilder has the same amount as Fury currently.

Who's in that lot.
1. Wilder - Already beaten but gained attention. Already rumours circulating but Wilder is reportedly pursuing a two fight deal with Ngannou.
2. Ruiz - Easy win on paper which gives him bragging rights over Joshua. Could also get approved as a mandatory.
3. Sanchez - Both Top rank affiliated. Sanchez poses no threat of power and is much smaller but his speed could be an issue so poses a higher risk than reward as he is unknown.
4. Makhmudov - Top Rank but also very high risk with low reward as he has big KO power but is unknown to casuals.
5. Joshua - Fight scheduled and all the other business.
6. Whyte - Just beat him.
7. Bakole - has a fight scheduled.
8. Kossobutskiy - Very unknown to casuals. Would not sell well. Untested at the highest level so could surprise but hasn't looked spectacular.
9. Wallin - Already beaten in a non-competitive fight.
10. Parker - A close friend who was the stand in for his previous fight. Has proven that he will fight friends to give them a payday.
11. Anderson - Has a fight scheduled.
12. Ortiz - Known name and very beatable.
13. Ajagba - Top Rank and beaten already so poses no threat. Could be seen as an easy to arrange stay busy fight but would not sell massively well.
14. Hrgovic - Promotional conflict and has a mandatory eliminator opportunity currently.
15. Jalolov - Untested and talented but probably would not even accept the opportunity. High risk, very low reward for Fury and very high risk for Jalolov.
16. Kabayel - Was considered an option previously and a fight was nearly made. May depend on the outcome of his fight this weekend.
17. Huni - Only 7-0. Probably wouldn't take it at this stage.
18. Wardley - Promotional conflict.
19. Yoka - Fight scheduled.
20. Pulev - Would not sell well given Pulev recently lost to Chisora.

Dubois - Would count as a unification so would get that signed off by WBC easily. In house so easy to make. Frank might not want to gamble his future (Dubois) against his present (Fury)
Joyce - Has a fight scheduled.
Ngannou - Easy days work. Doesn't have to make a choice of who else to face. Easy option and pumps up his ego. However, Wilder is reportedly pursuing a two fight deal with Ngannou.

Ruiz and Parker would be my favourites for it, should Fury not want to face Usyk, followed by Ortiz (low risk and known name), Kabayel (previously tried to make the fight) and Ajagba (Top Rank & low risk). Then there's Ngannou of course but I think he'll likely face Wilder or Whyte if any of them.

I really hope the Usyk fight happens, but if it don't, Fury will have managed to not fight Joshua and Usyk. He's the common denominator.

What’s the time frame? Aj had five years to fight his main rivals and ducked both.

Wilder v Joshua - During a rant directed at Fury last week where Wilder thought the Gypsy King would take on Carlos Takam, he said: “You know I was offered more money to fight Joshua than I was getting to fight you.
“Again being a man of my word, I fought you.” :maybe:

Fury v Joshua 1 - The ball is now in Wilder’s court as to whether he is willing to take a financial incentive to stand aside. If not, Fury may have no choice but to rekindle his feud with the “Bronze Bomber”.

Joel Leigh, partner at Howard Kennedy law firm, told i: “It’s very binding. Even Fury’s own team seem to accept that it’s binding. We know that technically, under terms of contract, that fight [Fury vs Wilder 3] needed to be activated within a specific period of time and it wasn’t. Of course, the reason for that was given as Covid.

“The judge essentially concluded that the effect of all of this had been to extend the period within which the right to that fight could be activated. :maybe:

Fury v Joshua 2 - Tyson Fury has demanded "s***house" Derek Chisora signs the contract for their heavyweight trilogy fight.

Fury has already beaten Chisora twice, outpointing him in 2011 and then stopping him in 2014, but has long insisted he would face his fellow countryman for a third time. And despite announcing his retirement after beating Dillian Whyte in April, Fury seems determined to fight Chisora. :maybe:

A man of his word, he fought Chisora, albeit with some mugging for the Netflix cameras regarding Joshua for his upcoming series.

You know that's not quite right. Joshua called out Fury after beating Klitschko, at which time Fury said he wasn't ready. By the time he was he signed for Wilder instead, branching into a trilogy that ran three years. Joshua announced he wanted Fury again before Wilder triggered his final clause, and then rematched Usyk.

So Wilder was effectively unavailable to anyone who might beat him except Fury for three years, while Fury wasn't available for AJ for almost five (save 2019 when they fought Schwarz and Ruiz respectively).

Joshua-Fury could happen right now with step-aside for Franklin, sure. Ditto Joyce-Fury, and of course Usyk-Fury.

With the exceptions of Parker and Ortiz, I think it's totally fair to criticise AJ and Wilder for not meeting after Klitschko's retirement. Spending the best part of two years fighting one top-rated challenger each* isn't good enough.

*Two for AJ if you count Povetkin.

Looks like, as a result of Fury's ducking, we will probably be getting something like this:
  • Usyk Vs Dubois as WBA mandatory
  • Fury Vs Ruiz (possibly as WBC mandatory)
  • Wilder Vs Ngannou
  • Hrgovic Vs Joshua for IBF final eliminator
    OR
Hrgovic Vs Sanchez for IBF final eliminator plus Joshua Vs Whyte

Great work, good summary. Yeah but neither Parker nor Ruiz can bring anywhere near the money that Usyk can at 60/40. Tyson’s logic is very contradictory

They couldn't come close to selling out Wembley in 5 weeks now unless it was AJ or Usyk so I'm guessing you are right.
