If you subscribe to the TV channel you can access the app free of charge but if you already subscribe to the app you can't access the TV channel

Nice little earner for Sky then.
Linear TV for live sports - the only way to have a chance at breaking even. Finally, DAZN learning.

No - you still have to subscribe. It's just like the myriad of other niche pay per view sports channels on Sky.Nightmare Roy wrote: ↑16 Mar 2023, 11:07I'm confused, so everyone will cancel their subs and watch it for free on sky?
Re: DAZN launches on SKY
Was impressed with this until I saw KSI at the top of the launch poster. C***s.

If you can’t beat them, join them.
Wasn’t 429 the old BNation channel?

Re: DAZN launches on SKY
So last month they launched a new price where they urge people to tie themselves in for 12 months and then make a TV channel where you can't view it if you're an existing subscriber. So basically any existing yearly DAZN subscriber would have to pay twice if they want to watch it on Sky
absolute con men.
They'd have known this deal was in the works. Very cynical behaviour.

I really don't think that's what they would do. However, absolutely it shows the chaotic approach that they couldn't tie all this together.ashall2 wrote: ↑16 Mar 2023, 12:07 So last month they launched a new price where they urge people to tie themselves in for 12 months and then make a TV channel where you can't view it if you're an existing subscriber. DAZN are going to be going balls out to try and minimise their losses off this upcoming Joshua fight, and this is part of that.
Re: DAZN launches on SKY
Seems to be no clear plan at DAZN. Constant price hikes, no PPV to PPV, changes in contract terms and now trying the TV channel route. It seems the Russian billionaire is a bit of a silent partner who’s given the posh kid Markowski free reign to throw enough mud at the wall and hope something sticks.garethhop wrote: ↑16 Mar 2023, 12:20I really don't think that's what they would do. At least you might be able to haggle on the price with Sky
Re: DAZN launches on SKY
I imagine it will be like Racing TV where you subscribe directly through them and SKY have nothing to do with it

Re: DAZN launches on SKY
My understanding is that they needed a channel on Sky to have DAZN be shown in pubs. I’d imagine it’s something to do with pub contracts with Sky that means they can only show stuff through Sky and no one else.
Having a channel on Sky isn’t crazy expensive. The Sky fee is around £100k a year for a channel and Sky can’t reject you unless completely valid. I.E. they can’t show bias but rejecting a channel simply because it’s a competitor to Sky Sports.
They’d also have to pay someone to broadcast their signal. I’ve always used Arqiva in the past which was €12k/month.

Part of the Press Release
At the moment, DAZN 1 HD will only be available to new customers of DAZN and pre-existing customers who purchased a yearly subscription will not have access to the channel - which has left many of their customers fuming over the announcement.
DAZN 1 HD is currently unavailable to existing DAZN subscribers on monthly saver instalment plans and those paying for the annual super saver plan. Only users paying the monthly flexible pass (£19.99) will have access to DAZN 1 HD.
Alternatively, existing customers can watch DAZN 1 HD if they sign up with a new account. However, they will be billed twice each month, though, due to having two active subscriptions - because customers are unable to combine a new account with your existing contract.
DAZN Group CEO, Shay Segev said, “Getting DAZN widely distributed is a priority for us as it delivers our great and growing array of content to more and more fans. We have ambitious, long-term and strategic plans for the UK market. The more people get to know DAZN and what we offer, not just in terms of rights but the full range of digital, interactive and sports entertainment we are developing, the better.
“This launch is great news for sports fans. DAZN 1 HD will optimize exposure for the upcoming Anthony Joshua fight, ensuring it is his most hotly anticipated and accessible bout in over a decade.”

Re: DAZN launches on SKY
Get ready for a future. DAZN 2, 3, Box Office.
Still nothing compared to Sky.
That’s a machine.
Even BT is levels below Sky. They don’t have any news channels.
It’s a good direction though.
Surely this wasn’t overnight. They must have been sorting this out for a while.
Like Mav said. Most likely for Pub contracts.
What they do when there’s 2 cards on?

Re: DAZN launches on SKY
So basically DAZN hiked all the prices up for subscribers, tried to coerce them into entering year long contracts, then all the while they were negotiating with SKY unbeknownst….. And existing DAZN subscribers will not have access to the SKY service, even though they may have signed for a year, unless they want to pay in addition.Ruthless-RKO wrote: ↑16 Mar 2023, 14:10 Part of the Press Release

If you have the DAZN app on ur tv. It’s not gonna. Akee a huge difference.
Depends what programs they have during the day.
When I used to have the app, I literally used to only open it when there was a card on.

Do any of the people who said we were tight or mad for balking at the £99 fee because we didn’t trust DAZN want to apologise?

Not really. I’ve been fairly happy with the content in March and the shows in April and May look strong and worth the money.Frostieballs wrote: ↑16 Mar 2023, 15:16 Any of the people who said we were mad at balking at the £99 fee because we didn’t trust DAZN want to apologise?
I, as I imagine most people do nowadays, have a smart TV and it’s 3 clicks to get on DAZN and watch it.
Re: DAZN launches on SKY
They are fornicating shite. Last week I thought "sod it" - I watch enough boxing (and PFL) on the app to justify the 100 quid for a year. Now I'm told I can't watch it on the Sky channel unless I take out a second contract or wait a year and pay for the "flexible" monthly option (£20 a month).
That wouldn't be hugely annoying if it weren't for the terrible app design, which insists on not giving you an option to start a live event from the beginning (I often turn it on to see replays of a knock-out, interview with a winner etc) or not allowing you to visually skim through stuff (as you can on Sky).
Amazing way to reward loyalty.
