If Not Usyk, Then Who Fills Fury's April 29th Dance Card?
Re: If Not Usyk, Then Who Fills Fury's April 29th Dance Card?
Maybe give his old mukka Pricey a pay day
It beggars belief these shananighans but I very much doubt he’s fighting end of April.
I’m thinking the UFC guy. All the razzmatazz and bs. Big numbers little risk.

WWE will have someone available
Re: If Not Usyk, Then Who Fills Fury's April 29th Dance Card?
Is he going to fight on 29th?
And Usyk? I'm not sure Dubois is fit and Joyce is fighting Zhang
Apparently Wilder, Bakole and Wallin are showing interest

If Dubois isn't fit then Bakole could be a mandatory if they can pull enough strings with the WBA. Wilder will tempt Usyk. He will have no interest in Wallin.

Wilder - jesus, not again FFS.
At this stage, I seriously hope whoever fights him punches him into retirement. Fcking sick of listening to Fury spouting horseshite.

I've a feeling we will hear he's split with Steward soon.
I'd not be surprised to hear Fury announce his retirement again soon either. Then some more tales of him out getting twatted, then losing the plot and the inevitable comeback.

tHATS WHY THEY HAVE MANAGERS goes along the lines of WBA order the fight , both managers and promoters work out a deal on where and how much , and WHEN with the latter allowing time for a training camp , to get in peak condition ,, now if half that camp is spent losing weight and getting generally fit , i suggest that any boxer who is'nt reasonably fit going into camp drops any hope of being a world champ

Veering off topic, but with a slight connection. Longevity. Tyson, it appears, doesn't live 100% clean when not in competition training, as Hatton didn't but maybe not on that scale. Anyway, i was talking to a pro boxer friend of mine, 7-0, who's last three years have been blighted by inactivity and injury. He has sparred Callum Simpson his whole career, usually having 50-50 spars. Simpson has been active, sparring Beterbiev and has a full time sponsor. When my pal went for this time, Simpson fights in Manchester tomorrow, he said he was a machine and couldn't do anything with him. In their final spar, he said he "got knocked fuk out of". The bad behaviour will catch up with you. *even if it isn't your own fault.

If it's anyone else but Andy Ruiz I'll be beyond sick and tired of the heavyweight division as a whole. Good thing the summer is nearly here, so can take my mind completely off the sport and go kayaking and camping and gardening.

Yeah. I think inactivity for a lot of fighters is the worst possible thing for the longevity of their careers. I always thought for Hatton it hit him when he started fighting just twice a year. When he was fighting 3/4 times a year it didn’t give him as much time to get out of shape yet he’d massively balloon later on his career which can’t help.mickey1975 wrote: ↑24 Mar 2023, 03:09 Veering off topic, but with a slight connection. It’s surprised me it hasn’t impacted Fury. Amazing to do what he did post Klitschko and then come back so well. It may still catch up with him at some point.
I watched the Jarrett Hurd and Tony Harrison fights in recent weeks. I thought both had them deteriorated and that’s likely due to inactivity.

I very much doubt Fury will be fighting 29th April.
He will probably put out dozens more stupid instagram videos about how he's 'nothing left to prove' and that's 'why I'm retiring.'
Hopefully for the final time.
What a huge waste - there was an opportunity to have a proper heavyweight champ - I guess I will settle for Usyk.

I can honestly see Fury retire.
Either that or a remote chance of facing AJ.
Usyk& AJ are the only fights financially that Tyson would get out of bed for.

“I’ve done everything there is to do in boxing.
“Usyk, the middleweight, gap-toothed dosser, was too scared to fight the Gypsy King and there is no other man fit to be in the same ring as me.
“This time the gypsy king is retiring for good. I’ve promised my wife.”
- Tyson Fury at some point in the future.

There is no way he will retire, and stick to it.

Nobody's going to fill the card - that simple.
Re: If Not Usyk, Then Who Fills Fury's April 29th Dance Card?
Personally, I think Joyce is probably one of the easier top level fights for Fury. He's just too slow. Joyce's strengths are his size, his chin, his engine, his output, his power and his jab. I think Fury's size, engine, defence and willingness to go the distance will negate most of them. I'd love to be proven wrong though.
Joyce is the "interim WBO world champion". I wonder if Fury would count that as a fourth belt and retire. Alternatively, the WBO don't put it up in that fight but he loses and you could end up with dregs fighting in an eliminator.
Re: If Not Usyk, Then Who Fills Fury's April 29th Dance Card?
Just a Fury distraction from his recent embarrassment; wouldn't face Usyk, but will fight Joyce instead .. absolutely no chance and will be surprised if people believe this.
Joyce is painfully slow - but he makes the opponent fight hard to keep him off - not good for someone like Fury who needs to fight at his own plodding pace; plus Fury is never going to stop Joyce so it's a no-no.
It's the classic Fury distraction of using a credible opponents name to give himself kudos.
I think he will claim to retire to avoid further fall out with fans. Fully expect him to give up the WBC title too .. because he will just use the lineal champion when he decides to fight again at end of year or this time next year.

It's said he beat Joyce up in sparring whilst 27 stone.

As the other thread proved - a lot of things said we're actually just nonsense.

In the end Partridge started calling out Mike Tyson instead as his distraction opponent.
Re: If Not Usyk, Then Who Fills Fury's April 29th Dance Card?
I feel sorry for Joyce in this situation. He is mandatory for one of Usyk`s belts, and I imagine he is about a year at least from realistically having that fight made (at best).
At his age, and the big shots he eats, the wheels can come off very suddenly. I`d say he is as good as he is ever going to get about now ... the last thing he needs is getting messed about by Fury who will just use his name as he did AJ for so long.

It probably is just a distraction tactic but I'm sure he'd fancy his chances against Joyce more than he would Usyk, so you never know.tonyevs wrote: ↑25 Mar 2023, 03:25Just a Fury distraction from his recent embarrassment; wouldn't face Usyk, but will fight Joyce instead .. absolutely no chance and will be surprised if people believe this.

Worst opinion of the day. BT Sport's shill mode activated.
