tHATS WHY THEY HAVE MANAGERS goes along the lines of WBA order the fight , both managers and promoters work out a deal on where and how much , and WHEN with the latter allowing time for a training camp , to get in peak condition ,, now if half that camp is spent losing weight and getting generally fit , i suggest that any boxer who is'nt reasonably fit going into camp drops any hope of being a world champ

Anyway, i was talking to a pro boxer friend of mine, 7-0, who's last three years have been blighted by inactivity and injury. He has sparred Callum Simpson his whole career, usually having 50-50 spars. Simpson has been active, sparring Beterbiev and has a full time sponsor. When my pal went for this time, Simpson fights in Manchester tomorrow, he said he was a machine and couldn't do anything with him. In their final spar, he said he "got knocked fuk out of". The bad behaviour will catch up with you. *even if it isn't your own fault.

Yeah. I think inactivity for a lot of fighters is the worst possible thing for the longevity of their careers. I always thought for Hatton it hit him when he started fighting just twice a year. When he was fighting 3/4 times a year it didn’t give him as much time to get out of shape yet he’d massively balloon later on his career which can’t help.

It’s surprised me it hasn’t impacted Fury. Amazing to do what he did post Klitschko and then come back so well. It may still catch up with him at some point.

I watched the Jarrett Hurd and Tony Harrison fights in recent weeks. I thought both had them deteriorated and that’s likely due to inactivity.

Personally, I think Joyce is probably one of the easier top level fights for Fury. He's just too slow. Joyce's strengths are his size, his chin, his engine, his output, his power and his jab. I think Fury's size, engine, defence and willingness to go the distance will negate most of them. I'd love to be proven wrong though.

Joyce is the "interim WBO world champion". I wonder if Fury would count that as a fourth belt and retire. Alternatively, the WBO don't put it up in that fight but he loses and you could end up with dregs fighting in an eliminator.

I feel sorry for Joyce in this situation. He is mandatory for one of Usyk`s belts, and I imagine he is about a year at least from realistically having that fight made (at best).
At his age, and the big shots he eats, the wheels can come off very suddenly. I`d say he is as good as he is ever going to get about now ... the last thing he needs is getting messed about by Fury who will just use his name as he did AJ for so long.

It probably is just a distraction tactic but I'm sure he'd fancy his chances against Joyce more than he would Usyk, so you never know.
