Just a reminder of the current rankings.
Parker is fighting midweek.

Only one of those upcoming fights should be voted on here.

It's times like this, i think we shouldn't vote him down.
At least he'd fighting. Some hardly fight and keep their rankings, and the ones that do have the odd crap fight and win, we end up dropping them.
I wouldn't see him above Joyce. Yes, JJ lost his last bout, but it was only 2 bouts ago that he was stopped by him.

I think it’s safe to say if Parker wins he remains where he is. Opelu isn’t terrible, he is absolutely no Martz like frank Sanchez fought… but he should be well and truely over matched here.
Re: BoxRec Forum HW Top 15 ranking - Joyce vs. Zhang
I think my take is to re-adjust for how perceptions of other records have changed over time. I'd still rank it as below. Might be worth doing a big one when Pulev gets voted out and vote on the movements of Bakole, Parker and whoever else has fought in the mean time.Ruthless-RKO wrote: ↑23 May 2023, 03:25It's times like this, i think we shouldn't vote him down.

winner may be candidate for spot 15? could he? close enough for a vote?
definitely worth a discussion about the possibilty of a discussion about that vote.

It was based on the boxrec algorithm that marks a boxer down for taking soft wins. That was a ridiculous fight, and absurdly it was PPV.gregregegg wrote: ↑25 May 2023, 17:19Can’t vote him down for demolishing opelu I. 90 seconds. Opelu isn’t great but he is better than a lot of tick over guys used…

Robert Helenius To Return on August 5 in Savonlinna, Finland
On August 5th, the 39-year old Nordic Nightmare, heavyweight contender Robert Helenius (31-4), returns to action for the first time since the short fight against Deontay Wilder in October of 2022 and takes on 41-year old Mika Mielonen (6-0) in the headliner of the annual show in Savonlinna, Finland.
It will be the first time as a pro that Helenius fights a compatriot.
None of Mielonen's previous fights has gone the distance - and this one isn't likely to go far either.

I think Huni's way underrated at #48, and Tabiti overrated at #32 as a heavyweight. I guess winning would help Huni in Boxrec's rankings but beating a guy one fight away from cruiserweight (who isn't Usyk obviously) won't really wake people up to him.
Obviously if he loses I'll have to re-evaluate both him and Tabiti

Tab is ranked 32 boxrec at cruiser. which is a very thin division. plus the little downgrade you get moving up.... probably converts to 50th-ish as a boxrec ranking at heavyweight.SportsRatings wrote: ↑26 May 2023, 16:21 I think Huni's way underrated at #48, and Tabiti overrated at #32 as a heavyweight. Ah you're right. I saw his last fight was at HW and assumed he was already moved there. Especially since that was 9 months ago and he has a scheduled HW fight.gregregegg wrote: ↑26 May 2023, 20:13Tab is ranked 32 boxrec at cruiser. which is a very thin division. plus the little downgrade you get moving up.... probably converts to 50th-ish as a boxrec ranking at heavyweight.SportsRatings wrote: ↑26 May 2023, 16:21 I think Huni's way underrated at #48, and Tabiti overrated at #32 as a heavyweight. Huni is being moved nicely. Respect for him.
Kownacki isn't an unknown prospect anymore, his upside is limited. I have no interest.
Makmuodov is a thunderous puncher and he's fighting an undefeated guy. IMO he is a top 15 guy.,
Anderson vs. Kossubutskiy is a match where two top 40 box rec young and undefeated prospect meet. A rarity in boxing. The winner advances into the top 20 at Box Rec.
