Re: BoxRec Forum HW Top 15 ranking - Joyce vs. Zhang
This may be an unpopular opinion in some circles but if the WBC forces Fury-Wilder IV, then it's our duty to demote both Fury and Wilder from their present rankings. Nobody who is a serious boxing fan wants to see that. Fighting somebody you have beaten multiple times at this point ought to be held against you.

The only way you should be 32 and undefeated is if you are the best boxer at your weight.
How many “prospects” have pissed away too much time and are over 30 befor they have a real fight?
It’s becoming the standard to not have a real fight in your 20s which just creates a bottleneck of “prospects” waiting for a shot in their 30s and most will miss out.
Ivan is 32 now, doing nothing. Hrg 31 but we’ll positioned, mak 34, miller 34, kosabuski 34, kem 32, dempsy 32, Lardner 33, siwy 32, Fraz Clarke 31, Raphael 32…. That’s just in the boxrec top 75, and I probably missed some.

At 32 Ali had won the HW title, defended many times, been stripped and idle for 3 years, then battled back and recaptured the belt from George Foreman. People thought he might retire due to his advanced age! Today's heavyweights don't even get started until they're 32!gregregegg wrote: ↑08 Jun 2023, 23:25 The only way you should be 32 and undefeated is if you are the best boxer at your weight.

Yes Sir. I remember back when 32 was considered ancient in the division.SportsRatings wrote: ↑08 Jun 2023, 23:55At 32 Ali had won the HW title, defended many times, been stripped and idle for 3 years, then battled back and recaptured the belt from George Foreman. same question applies to 95 % of all match ups in this anyways comatose division.
it's absolutely mindboggling to see promoters just not getting the fact that u have to pick somehow challenging opposition to get ahead. no risk, no reward.
protecting your fighter should mean not putting him up against an opponent objectively still way out of his league or who's style is all wrong.
but by constantly hand picking the least challenging opponent for years and years to keep the holy O and maybe by accident stumble upon a decent paxday you are depriving your fighter of any chance of improvement.

Re: BoxRec Forum HW Top 15 ranking - Joyce vs. Zhang
I think once you move past 6 rounders you should never be a be a 90-10 favourite again.
And I think 10/12 rounders really should never be 80-20 or more.
Problem is for con jobs this makes being undefeated for years and years nearly impossible (as it should be)
If I was a commission I would not sanction 90-10 odds fights over 10 rounds, especially not at heavyweight, it’s either too dangerous or it requires premature stoppages to keep it safe, both are bad options.
Add into that I think there needs to be minimum amounts of notice for camps… 2 weeks notice for 4 rounders, 3 for 6rounders, 4 for 8 and 6 weeks for 10/12 rounders… minimum.
I didn’t hate Adeleye opponent (if he came in shape), but in that condition it should have been limited to an 8 round contest I think. Don’t actually know how much warning he got but coming in 30lb more than ever befor isn’t great.

Just saw the fight live. That was embarassing. Dychko by stoppage in the 2nd. Should have been stopped in the 1st because of bleeding. Not even close.Ruthless-RKO wrote: ↑07 Jun 2023, 03:20 Upcoming Heavyweight Fights

I think given where guido is (29 with a ko loss and a lucky draw) you need a significant bounce back … if you’re not good enough to beat kean why keep going…. I have kean a slight favourite, but it’s a live fight surely.oogiebe wrote: ↑15 Jun 2023, 17:02Bye bye Guido. Not sure why they would make that matchup. But look honestly I would have fed him 2 absolut cans after that rice loss, just so you’re not risking consecutive defeats….

kean can punch some but he's got a glass chin and is easy to hit. shawndell winters almost ko'd him and of course carmin did. guido can defo ko him too. actually it's a pretty solid match up

Would have to think of a list of those moving into top 15? Or are we going to have empty slots until some meaningful fights?Ruthless-RKO wrote: ↑17 Jun 2023, 05:34 Gonna be voting on Pulev soon..
