1979. 15 rounds. How does a prime Cuevas fair against Duran ?
Re: Pipino Cuevas versus Roberto Duran
Cuevas gets caught on the ropes and KO’d a couple of rounds later than in 1983
Re: Pipino Cuevas versus Roberto Duran
Roberto the Great knocks out Cuevas.
There is no other way.

Re: Pipino Cuevas versus Roberto Duran
It would have been a great fight. A phenomenal slugfest. But, Roberto Duran's all around technical game was superior to Pipino Cuevas and that's where is the difference.
I think that if Cuevas would have unified the welter crowns with Carlos Palomino, Palomino would have taken him, too! Palomino was very underrated.
You gotta have more than a hell of a punch to beat one of the greatest boxers that ever happened in this life. The Hands of Stone was better. How much better? I don't know. But he was much better.

There was never a time when Duran wouldn't have beaten Cuevas. I figure 1977 or so would've been when it would've been toughest for Duran.
Even then I think he still ultimately wins by KO.
