If AJ - Whyte was on Sky Box Office, it might have a chance. Not on DAZN PPV though.

Re: Which Fight Gets More UK PPV Buys?
You'd have to assume that Fury v the MMA man will do more through curiosity value and MMA fans who wouldn't usually buy.
I would suggest that actual boxing fans will more likely go for Joshua v Whyte if they can't afford both.

Undercard so far for AJ is Hrgovic v McKean and Fisher v Armstrong for the southern area title. Fabio Wardley also likely to be on there.
I say make it a night of the heavyweights with say 6 heavyweight fights.

Partialy depends on what the UFC do..... Dana could put a mega card on the same day just to fornicate with francis.

I don’t follow UFC, do they care? Presumably if the guy was a draw they would have done more to keep him?gregregegg wrote: ↑15 Jul 2023, 17:52 Partialy depends on what the UFC do..... Dana could put a mega card on the same day just to fornicate with francis.

I think dana cares... if the heavyweight champ of the ufc leaves and goes and boxes for 30 million how many other UFC guys will start wondering if they can do it....leejonesjnr wrote: ↑15 Jul 2023, 18:04I don’t follow UFC, do they care? Re: Which Fight Gets More UK PPV Buys?
Let's put it this way....
Fury-Ngannou is gonna be bigger than Joshua-Whyte, Joyce-Zhang, and Usyk-Dubois combined. You can take that to the bank. Two are rematches nobody wants to really see (let's be honest) and the other is a title match with a guy who never really earned that shot in the first place. The heavyweight division sucks right now. So the gimmick match will be the event of the year potentially.

UK?
Might just be AJ-Whyte.
UK prime time.
Fury-Ngannou is daft o clock.
Both will be heavily streamed illegally.

AJ fight is only PPV in the U.K. and included in DAZN sub everywhere else, so can only really compare U.K. numbers.

Wonder what time they’ll do Fury-Ngannou.Boxerbeetle wrote: ↑15 Jul 2023, 19:47 AJ fight is only PPV in the U.K. and included in DAZN sub everywhere else, so can only really compare U.K. numbers.
Either they do it primetime UK, which will be around 1am Saudi time then. If they cater to US fans, cus that market might just be more money. Then it would be daft o clock in UK.

Think its more than that. jake paul (not a great source) claims it was 8 figures not 8 million.... so more than 10 million. now as i said not a great source.. but arriel backs it and he seems to know everything with these things.leejonesjnr wrote: ↑15 Jul 2023, 19:57Ah ok.gregregegg wrote: ↑15 Jul 2023, 19:53oh i just made that part up. i dunno an arbitrarily large sum of money.

What makes you think Fury/Ngannou is going to be at a daft time? I’d imagine it’ll be 9pm U.K. time similar to the AJ fights in Saudi and then in the afternoon US time.Ruthless-RKO wrote: ↑15 Jul 2023, 19:45 UK?

Re: Which Fight Gets More UK PPV Buys?
Yes that's how it appears. Potentially an existential threat for Dana/UFC if other top names decide to leave and work for rival promotions.gregregegg wrote: ↑15 Jul 2023, 18:21I think dana cares... if the heavyweight champ of the ufc leaves and goes and boxes for 30 million how many other UFC guys will start wondering if they can do it....leejonesjnr wrote: ↑15 Jul 2023, 18:04I don’t follow UFC, do they care? That's a decent night's entertainment.Undercard so far for AJ is Hrgovic v McKean and Fisher v Armstrong for the southern area title. Fabio Wardley also likely to be on there.
I think Hrgovic is the real top contender currently - he had a close fight against Zhang, but looked a lot stronger and able to force Zhang back than Joyce did.
Fisher is always entertaining .. so whilst AJ v Whyte PPV will struggle on DAZN, it should do similar to Fury v Ngannou

Re: Which Fight Gets More UK PPV Buys?
They are being very cagey with announcing the deal for subscribers. August is a shocking month for DAZN, it could end up £70 for Jake Paul, Yafai and AJ. Alienating subscribers won't help, but asking them for £27 is a bit much. The fight obviously is free worldwide, over on the current scene forum it has similar views to what Jarred Anderson v Charles Martin has on here.tonyevs wrote: ↑16 Jul 2023, 04:44Yes that's how it appears. Re: Which Fight Gets More UK PPV Buys?
I'm not sure if Eddie will be just happy to just fill the venue rather than getting a million PPVs .. I don't think he is that off his game with unrealistic expectations.

Re: Which Fight Gets More UK PPV Buys?
I think this fight was insisted on by DAZN. Eddie more or less said so. They haven't had an AJ PPV yet and who knowsmwhat the tv situation will be for Wilder.
