Re: Fury vs Ngannou
Why doesn't Fury have a BBBofC licence?
Why did Fury never attend a hearing when he was banned?
What kind of testing does Fury have for the Ngannou fight?

AJ can be proud. He has boxed Uysk twice, boxed Ruiz twice and both Fury and Wilder have walked away from fights with him.BigDoofus wrote: ↑02 Oct 2023, 11:10He’s on his 8th year of not fighting Wilder and he’s turned down 2 World title fights in 9 months.big lennox wrote: ↑02 Oct 2023, 10:49Maybe he didn't trust it wouldn't happen even if he agreed. Re: Fury vs Ngannou
If the top contender, can't agree terms then the WBC should go down the list of ranked boxers to get a shot. Fair enough if number ranked won't fight go to number 2 and so on. I'm guessing a top 10 or 15 would face Fury and for a mediocre pay check.
The WBC at some point has to find a boxer to face the champion. I would have thought the WBC should say, Fury has to fight someone in the top 10 in the next 3 months. If a fight cannot be made tough shit on Fury you are going to be stripped. If the WBC aren't bothered about stripping Fury then of course he will knock his heals and just fight dumb ass exhibitions and make money from those.

He can duck Fury and Wilder for evermore but big Lennox will ignore it because he lost to Ruiz and Usyk.big lennox wrote: ↑02 Oct 2023, 11:19AJ can be proud. Re: Fury vs Ngannou
I'm pretty sure if AJ had beaten Usyk the 1st time around, he'd probably have already fought Fury, but the best laid plans of mice and men...and boxing promoters don't always work out
AJ vs Wilder is still definitely a marketable fight.
Usyk vs Zhang would be good.
Even if Fury wants to play Tiddlywinks and fight none of the above. It'll be alright. Eventually he'll have to sh*t or get off the pot as they say.

Hopefully the Fury vs Uysk fight being made will lead to Joshua vs Wilder being made as well.gilgamesh wrote: ↑02 Oct 2023, 13:40 I'm pretty sure if AJ had beaten Usyk the 1st time around, he'd probably have already fought Fury, but the best laid plans of mice and men...and boxing promoters don't always work out

The first few months of the year, in the heavyweight division, were tedious, but the start of 2024 could be amazing. You can make a case for each fighter winning.
I hope Zhang lands a big fight as well. Him vs Ruiz would be a good watch.
I'd keep Dubois away from Hrgovic at this stage, but he can come again. There are some really good fights to be made in the coming months.

I suspect Usyk vs Zhang would be a huge fight in Macau, China. Are they still trying to make that city the "Vegas of the East" I remember that was the idea when Pacquiao fought their a while back.
I figure that'd be the biggest possible location for that fight. Although obviously if Usyk can fight Fury. I'd rather see that.

It would be massive in China? I wonder if they invest in Boxing? Would be great if they did.gilgamesh wrote: ↑02 Oct 2023, 13:46 I suspect Usyk vs Zhang would be a huge fight in Macau, China. Re: Fury vs Ngannou
They tried it once with Pacquiao. I'd think if ever they could market Boxing in China it'd be when they have a Chinese Heavyweight Champion. Though maybe they'd rather wait for him to be the defending Champion, and not challenging for it.big lennox wrote: ↑02 Oct 2023, 13:51It would be massive in China? I wonder if they invest in Boxing? this is a good forum but many of you spend a lot of time trying to score petty meaningless points against each other, it's quite sad.

I now consider Joshua, as well as Fury - semi retired effectively. All they do is talk these days. Yes the heavyweight division has become very much a ‘business’ and not a sport. People are just not competing against other. The division could really do with a Super Six competition, but clearly that’s not happening.jamesmcdonnell wrote: ↑03 Oct 2023, 06:41I now consider Joshua, as well as Fury - semi retired effectively. The old farts need to clear off, but then I suspect the reason they haven't is that there's so little new blood in the division.polecateddy wrote: ↑03 Oct 2023, 07:31Yes the heavyweight division has become very much a ‘business’ and not a sport. Look at the top 50 on boxrec, it makes for really depressing reading.
Of the top 50, only 10 are under 30 years old! Pretty daming.

Jalolov is the obvious one if he sticks to the pros.
Who else? RIchard Torrez has failed to convince me yet as looks too small but is exciting and can sell.
Really quite worrying lol

Re: Fury vs Ngannou
I'm amazed someone like Frank Sanchez isn't champing at the bit to get a mando spot with someone. Beat that Efe Agjaba guy in 2021 which was prospect v prospect but has fought cans since then rather than go for a final eliminator.
