ITV commentary sucks!!!
Used to like John Rawling but he just irritates me now. Duke Mckenzie is ok but says some bizarre things.
p.s Calzaghe looks gutted!!! He wanted Johnson

Blah blah blah... This is what does my head in bout people on this board. All the complaining. At the end of the day im happy its on terestrial tv, they are goin out to a wider audience not just us boxing fanatics.
All the time on here its people complaining about things cause they arnt up to your perfect standards. Seriously take a step back and just enjoy the fights. Seriously stop complainin about things it weas a great fight... After every broadcast after ITV theres one of these posts.
If there wasnt no boxing on TV people would moan, and when it is they still moan. Does my head in

come on people, commenters need to bring excitement and intensity sure but also intelligence, analysis and insight and above all objectivity
its like listening to the bloke down the pub doing the commentary
people should have standards and expectations and not just accept things if they dont feel its good enough

It was crap. McKenzie is getting worse every fight. As for the 'you should be happy to be just getting free boxing.....' rubbish. We paid through the nose and still do for Sky and monthly subscription fee just to get channels like Eurosport and ITV 4. ITV are making a fortune in advertisement and have a responsibility to provide quality analysis. They are not and should be criticised for it.stujones wrote:What about this its so close when Johnson was about 5 rounds up. Both were saying that.hitman_hatton1 wrote:ha ha we always get one of these.
i thought rawling had a good one tonight.
duke came out with a few dodgy comments again but that's what he's there for.
well to be honest they are on terrestrial tele, and i think they balance boxing knowledge with dumbed down talk for the average fan quite well. They picked up on the main points about how Clinton shouldnt let Glencoffe dictate the pace and put rounds in the bag, and pointed out when Glencoffe was tired but also mentioned points about how the arm punches were not effective from Johnson etc i did feel like screaming tactics at the tele and wondered why i never heard the commentators go "it seems to me that he just needs to..." because it was staring you right in the face but overall i did think they were very good and although lacking some technical points brought emotion to the fight.

I enjoyed the fights. If you could combine ITV cards with Sky's analysis and commentary you would be on to a winner. One good thing about Amir getting fed another tomato Khan was that he slapped him silly quick enough to let us see M'Baye-Balbi.lvlarc_uk wrote:Well the show has finished, overall I thought it was one of ITV's best cards to date, enjoyed it.
Its a totally shit commentry team alltogether, Duke is just shit...I have tried to be polite before but the guy is just shit..." I scored the 3rd for Johnson" which just happened to be a very good rnd for Clinton...and that old fella Rawlings is just an advert for age concern....and McGuigan...Khan wants to keep his arse against a wall when Barry`s about
Sky got some stick in the past but since they cleared out the rubbish they have gone from strength to strength...and ITV just lap it up

Yes, imagine if it would have gone the distance - we wouldn't have seen any of that fight... and it was a classic.WayoftheCass wrote:I enjoyed the fights. "Johnson seems to be throwing just arm punches now"
BANG!!! Johnson presses Woods against the ropes and nails him with a right. John Rawling should ask Clinton whether he thought it was an arm punch
The commentary IS getting better though I suppose it depends on the quality of the fights aswell. Duke McKenzie just needs to calm down telling everybody fighter X is gone when they're clearly not and we'll be alright.

To be fair, with the current situation with ITV boxing McGuigan has only got two prospects to rave about - so really its his job to keep punters interested.tonyevs wrote:and McGuigan...Khan wants to keep his arse against a wall when Barry`s about:
He know longer has the likes of John Murray domestically and the likes of Escobedo, Chavez Jnr, Paez Jnr etc to discuss.
Of course its great that it's on Terrestrial, with a wider audience exposure, but they do need to beef up their coverage to keep people interested. Last night was a great card and after the drama of the Woods Johnson fight, there is a good argument for showing the rest of the card (Jenings, etc) on one of their Digital platforms, or as part of a Sunday re-run. However all we get is Khan and M'Baye, following the news and 2 lots of weather. The Khan fight was shown not long before midnight - this is a chap who has a great presence in British sport - surely he would be able to attract a TV audience earlier in the evening and certainly the following day? Showing his fights at either of these times, would attract more people, especially in the younger age groups.Razor wrote:Blah blah blah... This is what does my head in bout people on this board. I mean, Curtis Woodhouse is getting his fight shown on ITV4 and he is famous for being an average footballer who decided he wanted to follow his lifelong passion for boxing. So where is the justification for not showcasing the likes of Michael Jennings and Denton Vassell.
Overall, I'd give ITV 6/10 for their performance - good showing overall, but definitely areas for improvement.
