Tyson Fury’s real ranking in The Pantheon of HWs

Post by si7dog7 »

I struggle to find a place for him in the top 20 or 30 all-time to be honest. Mind you, I struggle with Wlad and Joshua too.

None of these are in the conversation.

Are they?

Really?

Wlad deserves a place of recognition. It was a very poor era, but he did face what was there and deservedly sat atop the dung heap.

Joshua fell short - Fury hasn't tried.

Can't rate him properly until he's finished fighting. At the moment, he's only beat an ancient Wlad and a wilder swinger who's beaten nobody good.

Don’t rate Fury, Joshua or Wilder in historical terms.

Don’t rate Wlad either, for that matter. Dominated a very weak era and would have been brutally ktfo by Vitali if they weren’t brothers.

I’d have slipped Luis Ortiz in at number 7 and dropped Holmes out. Agree with the rest though.

Tyson Fury doesn’t currently have any historical standing as one of the greats.
That may change but I don’t think it will.

Come on now, Teddy, who are we to question Terry O Connor's judgement? Having been knocked out by McDermott Sr, he was surely best-placed to objectively assess his son's performance against Fury.

I think he would need Hrgovic over Ruiz .. Hrg beat Zhang fairly recently, and Ruiz lost to AJ quite awhile back and has done practically nothing of note since.

Those Usyk, AJ, Zhang and Hrgovic fights would possibly take 3-4 yrs to do .. despite Fury saying he is after a new 10 fight deal, we all know he hasn't got long left - so they won't happen.

The thing is. I do f think there is anyone around near to give Iron Mike and I’ve got him 10-15 at best.
It’s all subjective of course. A matter of opinion.

Wlad might get number 20 coz he did beat Samuel Peter.

Wladimir is undoubtedly an all time Top 20 guy. I'd probably have him in the Top 10.

Fury has arguably surpassed Wladimir's accomplishments already or at least is on par with them. If he reigns a few more years, and gets the other names that are missing on his record in the Win column it elevates him greatly.

Surpassed Wlad’s accomplishments?
Really
Ok he beat him in a bore fest
But surpassed his accomplishments?
Just can’t see that. Sorry.

Pray tell your reasoning. I’m happy to doff my cap to a good counter argument.
