Now I was a massive Tyson fan back in the day, but it was truly back in the day. I just find seeing him now really sad, seeing him almost trying to recapture glories on a heavy bag I find sad… but yes I still watch.

But what I don’t get is the near universal praise and respect he gets. I don’t mind forgiveness and saying “you’ve served your time” but he’s now lorded as a God, which is a bit much…and I hate to think how much his pot smoking is affecting him

I have no love for Tyson so I don't particularly care about his health. If it's a real fight and he takes the big money, he can take the beating that goes with it as well. Jake Paul and Mike Tyson have announced they will fight in a heavyweight boxing contest live on Netflix at AT&T Stadium in Texas on Saturday July 20.

It beckons as another beacon of the crossover era as YouTuber-turned-boxer Paul faces his toughest test yet against former world heavyweight champion Tyson.

Paul is 9-1 in the ring after recording a first-round stoppage win over Ryan Bourland at the beginning of March, the only blemish on his record being a defeat to Tommy Fury in the pair's grudge match last year.

Tyson, who will have turned 58 by the time the fight arrives, retired from professional boxing back in 2005 with a 50-6 record as a former undisputed heavyweight champion.

I was talking to an American friend who cares nothing about boxing. He wouldn't know who Fury or Usyk are. He's heard of Jake Paul, but is not bothered by him and has no interest in his career.

He had heard about this and said he wouldn't mind watching it, simply because Mike Tyson's name is involved.

It’s amazing how many people think Tyson will blitz him in a few seconds. Jake Paul is far from being a good fighter but he’s been boxing for at least 7 years now so not a complete novice. We can argue about the quality of his opponents but he’ 9-1 on boxrec and I think he had other fights that weren’t recognised too? Add to that he is very wealthy so can have the best equipment, food, trainers etc. He is also 27 so close to his physical peak and looks strong and in good shape. I’d love Tyson to flatten him but I doubt Tyson has the stamina to fight at any decent pace. The only thing we have to go on is Tyson's exhibition in 2020 with a 51 year old Jones who was also well past his best.
