thanks for content. He had a gym iirc based on Crossfit but think that's not open anymore. Would be interesting to get his take on PEDS as he's been bang on them in the past.Controversial wrote: ↑16 Jan 2024, 17:46No he seems to juggle various things and said the podcast is quite time consuming as he does it all himself. A shame though, hardly seems worth signing up to and paying for Patreon if he is doing less of themSeanBrennan wrote: ↑16 Jan 2024, 17:03ah that's a shame, I thought he was doing it full time.Controversial wrote: ↑15 Jan 2024, 18:33 It does sound like Tris is knocking it on the head, I listened to the last one which is the 250th episode (Calzaghe). He then ends the Calzaghe chat with a 20 minute chat with his sponsors talking about the podcast and finishes saying "over and out" and thanks everyone for listening over the years. He did mention earlier he would still do them but far less frequent and they will go onto Patreon which you have to pay for.

Finally caught up with the Julius Francis one. What a guy, and still sounds very good too, you can say he's lived a life.

Just finished the Jim McDonnell episode. Another quality listen.
No idea how I've gone around 20 years being aware of them both, and not realising Jim and Marcus are brothers

thanks for the offer mate, but have read it already. agree that and bunce's book are among the best out there. tris' book damage is decent too although obviously a difficult read.SeanBrennan wrote: ↑16 Jan 2024, 17:01Tris is genuine isn't he, have you read his book about where he is travelling across America sparring - it's fantastic. I've got it if not, happy to post it (if you're in UK). That and Bunce's book on British boxing are must reads for me.veriton wrote: ↑16 Jan 2024, 15:48 Just got the latest Calzaghe one to listen to. I can remember in the previous JC one Joe started choking up about his dad, I was driving to work listening to it at the time and was almost in tears myself. Very emotional moment from Joe and there have been a lot of really good moments over the Boxing Life Stories series. If it doesn't get Tris in the IBHOF then something seriously wrong.

no problem mate. I've bought Damage but not read it yet, bought it myself for xmas. Currently reading a biography of Eamonn Magee from a few years back. Won William Hill Sports Book of the Year, it's fascinating.veriton wrote: ↑17 Jan 2024, 15:31thanks for the offer mate, but have read it already. agree that and bunce's book are among the best out there. tris' book damage is decent too although obviously a difficult read.SeanBrennan wrote: ↑16 Jan 2024, 17:01Tris is genuine isn't he, have you read his book about where he is travelling across America sparring - it's fantastic. Wouldn’t it be nice to see Tris as a sort of floating pundit used by Sky and TNT and DAZN to bring a bit of gravitas to the panels.
He’s a man who seems to be respected across the board and you could always be sure of insightful, well informed and impartial comments from Tris

From listening to him talk about it, it was a real labour of love and took a lot of his time up travelling, filming, editing etc. Not sure what sort of income it generated but can’t imagine it was a lot.

yeah sometimes you can burn yourself out or the fire and passion dies. I used to be addicted to the gym like twice a day now dred the thought of going and cancelled my membership last month.Controversial wrote: ↑27 Mar 2024, 13:19From listening to him talk about it, it was a real labour of love and took a lot of his time up travelling, filming, editing etc. Not sure what sort of income it generated but can’t imagine it was a lot.

A real shame because there could have been so many more interviews.
Some of them were absolutely superb

If you listen to the last one (Joe Calzaghe #2), there is an hours chat afterwards with his long running sponsors where he talks about how the series has developed etc.
He says he wants to get off the treadmill for a while and the pressure to release a new episode every week.
But he doesn’t rule out bringing it back.

Just listened to his interview of Julian Jackson. I really enjoyed it. The Hawk sounds like a nice fella and was very complimentary of Herol Graham. I liked his interview of Jackie Kallen and Kathy Duva as well! I used to listen to his podcasts on the way to judo or at the gym. Great journalist

Tales from the ring is good in BLS absence. I've just listened to Wayne Alexander.
