Re: Dave Allen v Jake Darnell
Just a bid of incidental chat. My daughter and Mrs have gone to the amateur show in Whitby tonight. I told my daughter to keep an eye out for Henry Wharton and mention me to him. Luckily he remembered me and is going to send me a souvenir in the post.

I won't go to local amateurs as I do not like local families shouting 'kbock the effers head off' and booing away young lads. I think it's a terrible way to treat young kids by booing them

To be fair, King did knock his opponent over with good shots. He didn't fall over.

Lovely picture, thanks for sharing. I met Henry when I was a little boy as a family member knew him (travellers). He was really nice to everyone, never forgot thatMasterG wrote: ↑06 Apr 2024, 15:38 Just a bid of incidental chat. My daughter and Mrs have gone to the amateur show in Whitby tonight. Great to see Wharton looking well
Re: Dave Allen v Jake Darnell
I bumped into Henry a few years ago in town. Had a really good chat with him. I have to say though, for atmosphere his fight with Eubank was the most electrifying fight I've seen live.SeanBrennan wrote: ↑06 Apr 2024, 15:42Lovely picture, thanks for sharing. Just spoken to heavyweight who was offered this fight with Allen 1 weeks notice for 3 grandTHEBUTCH wrote: ↑06 Apr 2024, 15:24 Really, MasterG ? I'd be surprised if he got £5k for a 4 rounder against a guy with a long losing record.
Allen kept busy during the 4 rounds and at least didn't sleepwalk his way through it.
Forget Dave's talk of having much boxing ability....it's levels. When he steps up against a winner, the result will always be the same.
Re: Dave Allen v Jake Darnell
Hmmm, but would Allen be on £5k ??

That's my suspicion about the £5k payday, but will stand corrected.

He didn't get into a pickle tonight !
Fleet footed, throwing combinations throughout. His opponent couldn't lay a glove on Billy.

Re: Dave Allen v Jake Darnell
I doubt Allen gets paid for fights like this.
If fighters were making money for these fights then no domestic guys would ever suffer from inactivity.
These probably cost a bit in reality, but are nessasary to get the fraze type fights where he makes good money.
